I'm originally from the north of Scotland, so know the difficulties of growing food crops in a chancy climate. If you know frost is coming, one emergency measure (and inexpensive) is to cover your outdoor crops with bedsheets. Plastic is even better of course but old white or pale bedsheets keep frost off the plants (the trick is to not let them touch the plants though so use plastic piping or stout branches to keep them off) and they still let light and water through. I did this in May this year when we had hard frosts and snow. We're retired, but next spring we will be selling our property here and relocating to Sweden. So your lovely videos are very valuable for us to watch. Thank you for making them and showing reality, the good and the "bad" (which isn't really). :)
We pay a lot of attention to Scotland because we don't get very warm in summer either- watermelons are impossible without a poly tunnel to trap the heat.
Why Sweden? it is so cold there or did you go in the south? We have our self-catering garden in Germany and i think its even could here. Without greenhouse you can`t earn so much you need to have for whole Year. This year we had no Frost only from June to July- thats not enough time for the most plants. Greatings from Germany!- From Gardener to Gardener :-)
From other homesteaders in Alaska, I've seen that they ensure planting below the frost line when they make greenhouses, using logs to cover the walls. then having the beds raised - some use reflective tin so that the sunshine bounces off each other. Many cover the greenhouse either with a polly tunnel, or with reclaimed old windows. Because the greenhouse is dug way below the frost line, the earth's warmth adds to the overall warmth of the greenhouse. Also an old plastic barrel painted black filled with water and sealed is used to absorb the heat of the sun then release during the night. If added warmth is needed, a Finnish Candle can be used to heat the area.
Very nice video .... Ivar is buzzing around like a big bee checking everything out. He is growing like a weed now, and is a riot to watch! Take care Mathias, Tova & the little whirlwind Ivar.
Fantastic filming and the music was just perfect. Ivar is lovely,💓 as always. The falling of the drone was funny, but it made your video more unique. I am sorry about the early frost. Where I live is still hot ..30 to 40 degree in north America. Enjoyed watching your video very much, thank you.

The ram story was fun, renegade rams 🤣 such naughty boys. The flights through woods are breath taking, such a joy to watch, along with you little who is adorable.

Wow, the colors are beautiful of fall there. I didn't realize that fall came so early there. We here in Missouri are still hot. Today will be 1st day of September. We do not have frost yet. Your videos are so beautiful and that boy is so sweet! Would love to squeeze him tight. He's so loveable. I'm guessing your summer is over. And no red tomatoes....wow your time frame for growing must be very short. Thank you for video. Take care of that boy.

Wow, that's really early. Here, in southern Portugal, still around 30 degrees Celsius every day. People can grow and harvest all year around. Oranges and lemons twice a year. Warmth in the house is needed from December till end of March. But I do miss the 4 seasons of the year like in northern countries. Your filming (and choice of music) is beautiful!! that feeling when you live in thousand kilometers away but you saw this family from the start (and the birth of little Ivar) and keep seeing them growing more than your own people!!!
Excellent video! Thanks so much. Ivar in the berry patch was just adorable. The stick incident at the end reminded me of my old Granny. She would shout at us It is all fun and games until someone pokes their eye out. It made me smile to remember my childhood.
I do hope you will not get more frost until the tomatoes are ripe. I have had an abundance of tomtoes this year and have loved every bite! We have had it very hot this summer, NE Tennesse USA. I am looking forward to fall, but not winter. Ivar is such a lovely child, I can't get enough of watching him. Your drone footage is amazing, glad you didn't fall out of the tree when retrieving it.
Stunning, just stunning skills you both have...a most Perfect life 💕 tough, rewarding, real, spiritually fulfilling, astounding. Slow hard work, I feel the burn in your muscles, and the splendor of all you take detail notice of around you. I cannot express adequately how deeply your sharing has touched my mind...I lose myself for hours at a time... definitely become a Patreon person....I hope you are all fortunate enough to live out your lives as you are today....
Your footage is always SO beautiful, and I keep saying that. I hope it doesn't get old to hear it, because I can never get enough of your filming. The misty drone footage... Your land almost looks alien. So, so beautiful! Every single second of it. And Ivar, ... I can't help but love the little guy! I can almost taste those blueberries too :)) Thank you for taking us along on your wonderful journey. The sheep situation sure made me laugh 😄, Hey, two more?! Wut? Hahaha, I guess the owner is very happy with you, now that they've got them back. I hope your food will still ripen, usually tomatoes WILL ripen quickly after frost if they haven't died yet. They will also after-ripen if they're far enough along. I'd be scared if I HAD to live off the land! I am glad we do have supermarkets, you know... just in case. ;-)
I live in northern Alberta we got a light touch of frost 2 days ago Got a garden and green house like you yes something it's frustrating one night frost at the end of August then nothing till October so I got plastic sheets to cover the crops save it all again this time now we finally got some decent rain was dry all summer very little hay and the canola is about 30%less Oh well that part of the game it as happens before it will happen again no worries mate it will all come together you're guys are doing good keep at it take care be safe
Wow, inspirational as always guys. Off-grid living is so desirable for us, you guys make it seem so accessible. I'd love to see how that TV show ended up!
Ok, so I may have a huge request... Matias, please please PLEASE make a compilation of aerial and macroshots of nature that lasts for 3 hours! I'm sitting here enjoying your intro and I am so sad it had to end.... The music, cinematography and most of all the feelings and emotions is just outstanding....
Wow, its soooo beautiful at the beginning😍😍😍😍 Thank you so much for this beauty👍🙌 P.S. I'm not ready for autumn yet either. August was like September and September is gonna be like August here in Germany. June was hot as July and July was like June. I don't know whats going on this year🤷♀️

Coldest night in August was 3 C here, and August has not been a summer month this year really.. I commute to Gävle for work, and one day i didn't! LOL! Worst flood i have ever seen in a city.. Harvest this year was kind of.. nothing.. Besides turnip. That all.. Well i guess it all starts over in the spring, lets hope for a change then together with healthy natural nutrition for the soil. Rams on the run, babies soon then, oh how fun! :)
Hello from Portland, Oregon! Love your projects. We enjoy watching and listening to your presentations! Excellent music and video... You are a gifted videographer! Thank you for all the effort. Jim and Cheryl
"Dont try that tree climb at home" 😁 I am sure Mathias used a few swear words
A beautiful video! I look forward to seeing you all every month and thank you for sharing your lives with us
Another amazing video 💯 📸
It's still 100°f in my area, Arkansas USA.
We're grilling hamburgers on the BBQ right now. Yummy 😋
Much 💕
that feeling when you live in thousand kilometers away but you saw this family from the start (and the birth of little Ivar) and keep seeing them growing more than your own people!!!
Amazing cinima photos.! Beautifully 🌴🌷. Thank you for sharing a day in your live with us. Love your videos.🙋🏻♀️🙏🏻
Absolutely beautiful! Greetings from Manitoba, Canada. 🙂. Best of luck with your garden.
Such a lovely family. Thank you.

Winter is comming, sooner as we like.
God bless your family from northern CA 🇺🇸❤️
Beautiful place to live in.
Sure like watching your videos!
Autumn has hit Northumberland too been a cold year ✌🏻root veg love frosts
Also if the tomatoes get too late, just pull them and put them on the windowsill in the sun... or make green tomato chutney that’s my plan
Thank you for sharing your life with us. Greetings from USA
Thank you so much for your kind words! ♡
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME THE LITTLE FOLLOW IS GROWING UP SO FAST GOD BLESS YOU ALL
Your footage is always SO beautiful, and I keep saying that. I hope it doesn't get old to hear it, because I can never get enough of your filming. The misty drone footage... Your land almost looks alien. So, so beautiful! Every single second of it.
And Ivar, ... I can't help but love the little guy! I can almost taste those blueberries too :))
Thank you for taking us along on your wonderful journey.
I am glad we do have supermarkets, you know... just in case. ;-)
U are the reason for a word called Life, I'm filled with joy every time I see yr post. 🐂🐣🦋🌹 See u soon .

Oh well that part of the game it as happens before it will happen again no worries mate it will all come together you're guys are doing good keep at it take care be safe
I love watching your life! Your son is adorable- thank you for sharing- I find it so inspiring to watch you both. Thank you for sharing-

Your baby is getting so big. He's such a darling little toddler. Quite adept at berry picking too. : )
it is so adorable to watch that your baby is picking and eating berries, so cute.......
