Digimon always had boobs in it! The first series/season already had Angewomon and LadyDevimon... Mervamon is not bad either (the one that drew your attention)
You're not crazy, the Digimon song & the movie that you remember was the English/American localization where they changed the names of the characters and edit out the violent stuff from the original anime. The (American) Digimon movie that you saw was an amalgamation of three separate original Japanese Digimon movies rolled into one 😅. Typical American localization of late 90s & early 2000s. Same thing happened to Yu-Gi-Oh.
Digimon Adventure and 02 are in the same continuity. Digimon Tamers takes place in the real world where Digimon exists only as a show and a game. The other seasons take place in their own universe including the games and on occasion they will crossover.
@@FalconSpirit A huge chunk of the audience is not english speaker, that's why he activates subtitles for the episodes during the reactions. He should stick only to original opening reactions in japanese.
@@FalconSpirit by going though that way it is also missing the German openings, european spanish, latin spanish, european portuguese, french, italian, brazilian portuguese and so on
So, to clear up a couple of things for this: The second opening is for the direct sequel of the first show. After that each one was a completely new show, with new characters, and mostly new Digimon being shown. Up until tri. which brings back the original cast. (And then there is the 2020 remake of the first show)
The connected threads: Adventure 01 (season 1), Adventure 02 (season 2), and Tri (season 7) are direct sequels. Adventure 01 takes place with the original cast in mid to late elementary school. Adventure 02 follows the youngest two members of the A01 cast and a new group of friends; the older A01 members are in late middle school/early high school at this point. Tri reconnects with the original A01 cast at the tail end of high school. The 2000 Digimon movie shows backstory for the A01 cast 8 years ago, 4 years ago, and present day (as of A01). Season 3, Digimon Tamers is the first standalone series. However, IIRC in the world of Tamers, the stories of Adventure 01 and Adventure 02 are in-universe anime seasons, and the main characters think of Digimon as fiction. [medium connectivity] From here on, each subsequent season is a standalone story with a new setting and new cast. Season 4, Digimon Frontier plays very fast and loose with what is a Digimon. This is the one where you asked "wait, they can turn into things now?" to which the answer is: yes, the kids are now Digimon... I really don't like this season. As far as I can recall, there is little to no connection to other Digimon seasons here. Not even recurring "background" Digimon like our good rocky boi Gotsumon make very many appearances. [0 connectivity] Season 5, Digimon Data Squad is set in a world where Digimon coexist with humans out in the open. We get recurring background Digimon again, so that's nice. The MC here has an Agumon (the yellow t-rex boy) that's different from A01 Tai's Agumon. [low connectivity] Season 6, translated as either Digimon Xros Wars (pronounced "Cross Wars") or Digimon Fusion paid homage to older series via cameos. DIgimon fuse together like Power Ranger mechs here. It is literally part of the lore of Xros Wars that the stories of the prior Digimon series are "legends" in the Digimon world and entities like Tai's Agumon from A01 or Takato's Guilmon from Tamers are legendary figures of a long forgotten past. Don't think too hard about how that works. [medium to high connectivity] Season 8, Digimon Universe: App Monsters. I didn't watch this one, so not sure about connections. From what I saw, it seems to just be advertisement for a loosely connected mobile game. [?? connectivity] Season 9, Digimon Adventure 01 (2020 remake). Don't bother. Not worth it. They somehow took everything that was charming and emotionally poignant about the original Adventure 01, and burned it all to the ground. [negative connectivity] Season 10, Digimon Ghost Game uses Digimon in a "mystery of the week" sort of setting. Classic recurring Digimon get a lot of spotlight here. [low connectivity]
Not exactly, Savers have two openings, so they belong together. (And possibly some other ones later, I haven't watched anything beyond Savers, but Xcorss Wars also seem to have more than one)
@@dragonbretheren There is one small thing you missed. Tamers does have another connection to Adventure as Ken's brother appears in Tamers. Granted this is barely elaborated on as he's barely in a single flashback in 02 and not many people played the Wonder Swan games that have him.
@@thedingokid8325 there is a direct conection betweem adventure 02 and tamers, ryu from tamers is originally from adventure but because of the events of his fight against Zeed Milleniummon in a wonder swam game, he ends up in the tamer time line without any memories from adventure (he shows in the ken ichijoji flashbacks as they tried to mention thar game)
13:52 Funfact, the digimon series story and plot are in fact have been very dark, even from the original series. There are a lot of realism, betrayal, despression, trauma, friendship falling off and many other things you normally wouldn't find in other shows. However, it also have a lot of heartwarming moments and morale that comes naturally due to the Human and "Talking Pet Animal" Digimon relationship and bonding experience. It is a shame that adults don't watch the show since it was marketed as a children show but the kids won't even get most of the story.
So digimon is broken up into separate "generations" in a sense. With some generations being tied together. You have Original gen: Digimon adventure Adventure 02 Adventure Tri Adventure Kizuna Adventure 02 "the beginning" 2nd Gen Tamers Third Gen Frontier Fourth gen Savers 5th Gen Xros Wars Xros Wars: Boy hunters who kept through time (this season had a special crossover with all the past seasons) 6th Gen Ghost game Then theres the spin-off series Digimon Universe Applimon And then finally the reboot Digimon Adventure: (also called Digimon adventure 2020)
@@GOTGames yeah, the digimon series in particular you would have most remember, since you said you watched the movie, would have been Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02.
since someone already pointed out my girl ladydevimon, i'll also mention sakuyamon. don't know if she was ever in the anime, i just know it's the final digivolution of renamon from tamers.
Digimon The Movie was actually an extremly cut version (arround 40 minutes) of 3 movies they combined and thus the story doesnt make too much sense in some parts. Movie 1 takes place before the first season, movie 2 after the first season and the third movie takes place in the middle of the second season. There is a 4th movie that takes place after the second season but I dont think that was published outaside a few areas. They are all canon to the first 2 seasons which are connected. (The third season and following movies were published for the 15th anniversary)
@@inkchariot6147 I would say before his redemption and after Chimeramon. I dont think there is every a specified point when it takes place. Atleast i would suggest to watch it after that arc. I think its parrallel to Kens rediscovery of himself.
wait, huh?? the movie is cut?? whats the name or how can i find the originals? far as i remembered the movie was basically an anthology of 3 stories, each about the size of a digimon episode
@@DogManProductions Yeah it's an anthology because it's 3 movies merged. The one about baby Kari and Tai was released in theatres in Japan before the first season was released. It was a prelude to the show.
@@DogManProductions Lot of movies in japan arent necessarily 2 hours long. Lot of them get bundle up with another movie for the runtime. Fairly common atleast back then. The US took the first 3 movies and made them into one cutting arround 40 minutes. Just search for Digimon movie for the first. The second is bokura no wargame (our wargame) and the third one is Digimon Hurricane Touchdown. I dont think an englished dubbed version for these exist uncut.
The pure joy you're giving off through this reaction, thats so wholesome. You loved the digimon movie as a kid, maybe you could watch the Adventure seasons with japanese subs. The english movie was a mix of three different digimon movies they shoved together. Chronologically the seasons are labled as Adventure, Adventure 02, and Tri. The first movie "Digimon Adventure (1999)" takes place before Adventure, the second movie "Digimon Adventure: Our War Game" takes place between adventure and 02, the third movie "Digimon Adventure: Hurricane Touchdown" takes place between episodes 21 and 22 during 02, the fourth movie "Digimon Adventure: Revenge of Diaboromon" is between 02 and Tri, the fifth movie "Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna" takes place after Tri, and the final movie "Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning" is after that. edit: I'm not saying to watch it as a reaction thing, I just mean on your own free time when you want to, you could even watch it with your kids for fun
Thank you for reacting to these. The Japanese Digimon songs are prodigious. The Japanese digivolution songs are good too. From what I remember, Digimon have several stages. Baby, Rookie, champion, ultimate, and Mega.
the german version of all these songs also slapped rly rly hard back in the days (still do) - had some of the best soundtracks at the time. angemon is best.
i found digimon and most anime in ger and the dubbed ops are magnificent. i still listen to them on the regular. i reccomend after listening to the originals for shows like dbz, pokemon, digimon, monster rancher etc to do the german ver. for comparison.
MY FAVORITE CHILDHOOD ANIME OMG. DIGIMON IS THE BEST THING EVER. And on Tuesday? Not me waiting for Taylor and here you are giving me 2 gifts lmao 😭❤️ THANK YOU THANK YOU. Honestly, the best seasons are 1 (adventure) and 3 (tamers). The movies are 3. One of the 2000s and the other two with the 01 and 02 characters and are currently premiering, Kizuna(2020) and the beginning (2023). Also there is Digimon Tri, where the characters from season 1 are in high school. Literally I've grown up with them. Sometimes the plot is not that good, but damn, I love it so much that I just watch it without question 😭❤️ and the music? Well... it's my soundtrack when I feel down lmao
@@johnnynoise7897 Actually I believe the American version is Baby, In-training, Rookie, Champion, Ultimate, Mega, Ultra. I don't think we had In-Training 1 and 2.
@@nexidal9656 those are just alternates to evolution they still fall to stages like armor evolutions are champion to ultimate and even mega stages omegamon is still mega stage maybe mercifull mode is ultra/ super mega
22:08 That is the opening for the American localization. Also, the localized "movie" was actually 3 different higher quality short films mashed together. (still have a big soft spot for it though)
As someone who watched every Digimon show starting from Adventure I was hit with wave after wave of nostalgia that it literally brought tears to my eyes
Wow, finally! Its been so long. I remember tuning in every Sunday morning. So nostalgic. Digimon Adventure came out in 1999. Also RIP to the singer Kouji Wada who passed away from cancer in 2016. Thanks for the reaction, Luke! Here are my 5 + 3(90s era) recommendations for your next OP & ED reactions: 1. Macross Frontier ED & OP (esp the EDs like "Diamond Crevasse" & "Northern Cross" are a MUST! and their longer forms!) 2. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha OP & ED (with 5 series and 4 movies; OPs sung by that era's anisong queen) 3. Shakugan no Shana OP & ED (since u have watched Toaru OPs, they have some some similar singers) 4. Vandread OP & ED (fire retro songs) 5. Horizon in the middle of Nowhere OP & ED 90s era: 1. Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure (1999) 2. Rurouni Kenshin (the 1996 series) 3. Inuyasha (anime: 2000; manga: 1996)
oh boy Digimon - I love the German versions of almost ALL Digimon songs - so many childhood flashbacks - one of the best classic animes with the best anime music of all time
To be fair, the german openings are basically the japanese openings with better audioquality and german lyrics. At least for the first 5 seasons/shows (op 1-6), after Savers (or Data Squad in german) I stopped watching.
I am from the US and they were billed as seasons. Didn't even differentiate their names until they adapted Savers as Data Squad, which was still billed as season 5.@@KurayamiSaidai

Digimon is split up into different "universes"/canons. You can tell by the title of the anime, such as Digimon Adventure or Digimon Tamers, etc. The original and main storyline spans Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Adventure Tri, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, and Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning. Everything from Tri onwards is relatively modern. Every other anime is basically it's own universe with some references to the Adventure series.
A lot of people mistake Digimon for Pokemon when in truth it's about kids with trauma fighting wars with monsters inspired by 90's action comics and learning to be better people and getting stronger otherwise everyone will die. Love this franchise so much.
So, the list of openings in this were: Digimon adventure: Butter-fly, sung by the late Koji Wada. Digimon adventure 02: Target ~ Akai Shougeki, sung again by Koji Wada. Digimon Tamers: The biggest dreamer, sung a third time by Koji Wada. Digimon Frontier: FIRE!!, sung by, you guessed it, Koji Wada. Digimon Data Squad(first half): Gou'ing! Going! My Soul!, sung by DinamiteSHU. Digimon Data Squad (second half): Hikari, sung by Koji Wada. Digimon Fusion/Xros: Never Give Up, sung by Sonar Pocket. Digimon Fusion/Xros (against the 7 generals): New World, sung by Twill. Digimon Fusion/Xros Wars: Stand up, sung by Twill. Digimon Universe, Appli-monsters (first half): DIVE!!, sung by Amatsuki. Digimon Adventure Tri.: Butter-fly (reprise), sung by Koji Wada. And the openings that were missing were: Digimon Universe, Appli-monsters (second half): Gacchen, sung by SymaG. Digimon adventure ('20 reboot): Mikakunin Hikousen, sung by Tanimoto Takayoshi. Digimon Ghost Game: FACTION, sung by Wienners. And the American adaptations, which most of them were untitled, but the most infamous was the Digirap, a remix of the English opening of Adventure & Adventure 02, used for the stitched up movie they did. (They took 3 completely different shorts and tried to make a cohesive story out of them).
That last opening, tells the story of the first digimon adventure series, those who adventured as children in the first series closed with their digimon returning to the digital world (the world of digimon) and in the series that in the last opening they met a big tragedy again when they became teenagers (high school) and reunited with their digimon as children.😄

Yeah, the opening song that you are remembering is the US opening. Way back during the 1990s and 2000s, when anime got exported from Japan to other countries, it was a pretty common practice for most countries to make their own opening songs. Some countries still do it. It's really a complete rabbit hole in its own right. Many anime had unique opening songs in the USA, in Mexico, Brazil, India Germany etc. For example, try checking the German Sailor Moon opening. Or the US and German Dragon Ball openings.
tbf most german ops were the japanese songs with german lyrics (even if they were changed more often then not) and they are absolutely legendary to this day 0. 0You can probably start singing 0000000000"Leb deinen Traum" or "der Grösste Träumer" around almost everyone from certain generations and theyll sing along XD
The movie you watched had characters from the first two seasons of the show. Each season has its own cast and mostly is its own thing. Season 2 is a direct continuation of season 1. The searies called "Digimon Adventure 1 & 2" later followed by 3, with the original cast being older. But aside from those three, each season is its own thing. Although i think it is implied in one season that the teacher of the kids is one of the original kids.
Missed 1 opening from Digimon Ghost Game, but anyway reactiong supa sick 🔥🔥🔥🔥thank you, since Digimon are not so popular this is very important for us fans
Loved all of the digimon songs so much! Wada Kouji's voice is just perfect imo. Given i only watched the first and second season to completion it has such nostalgia!
Duel Monsters isn't the original. There's an older version we like to refer to as Yu-Gi-Oh zero or season 0 and it's OP is also a banger and you can find it here
Digimon is really such a vibe. Watching it, even after growing up, it's like eating comfort food. It just goes by so fast, and it's really fun all the way, even the seasons that are not as good as the others. I just keep coming back to re watch it every few years or so. Another one that is a nostalgia trip for me is Yu-Gi-Oh, and there are some AMAZING openings in it.
Oh my goodness I laughed the whole time I was watching your reaction. It made me feel really good. I want more feel good anime reaction openings like this from you if at all possible because it brought me joy and the world needs more joy. You did miss a few openings though which I'd love to see your reaction to the opening of Digimon Ghost Game and the reboot of the original Adventure. But this has been such a feel good moment and I actually did cry a little bit.
Im sure the comments here have explained everything so I'll just give my thanks for reacting to this! Yea the openings really gave me nostalgia vibes, I mainly watched Digimon 1, and 02 a bit of Digimon tri too, didn't really like tri but it was an interesting one since we got to see the original cast for the first generation all grown up. A lot to learn and take away from the deeper messages they had in it. I loved Digimon Tamers(the 3rd show) & Digimon Fusion (transformers/power ranger feeling from opening) as it was called in the English version (Xros Wars is the actual name of the season). I loved those the most. Technically Digimon Xros Wars had 3 whole seasons and I'm pretty sure each generation also has a few seasons for the actual anime. So I'm not really sure what the best way of classifying this is. Generations--> Seasons maybe?
same, loved the anime as well, it had it's issues, mainly that it fumbled a bit trying to balance it's episodic nature with the overall story but watching it just for the episodic stuff was so fun to watch every week
Digimon is one of my favorites for nostalgia reasons, specifically the first three ops because they were the ones i watched with my brother. They were so good and im glad that you liked it. And the movie was great too, rewatched that so many times. Then digimon Tri was so good too. Great reaction as always
This show was my whole childhood. I remember watching up to the 4th season. I recently re watched the first 3 seasons in english and was really impressed at how well they held up.
Digimon was a huge part of my childhood. I even bought a big boxset a few years ago which includes the first 4 series. I'd never seen the 4th one before. So much nostalgia.
The digimon theme where they repeat the word digimon was in the og dub of the anime with the last song being the first gen characters as adults. That said they is also a reboot of season one and soon season two. Along with that there is many games of digimon with Digimon dusk and dawn for the ds and cyberslueth both one and two as my favorites so far.
By the way, the one you say you recognize at the 24 min mark is the same song as the original season, and same characters, because it was the 15th anniversary of the original so they made a new season with older versions of the original cast
Aaaah my childhood this is actually making me cry so much especially listening to Digimon tri song at the end. You need to do a reaction to all digimon series let's relive our childhood together again and go on a wonderful journey once more
16:55 ohh you have no idea, Luke. That really happened, it was a time when hire some h3ntai artist to design some female form digimon, big titties and some designs look like girls on a cosplay. That was because they wanted to attract back fans who had grown up and promote the TCG.
My dude, Boobs were in Digimon since the first season and oh boy I hope you do a reaction for all the Digivolutions from said first season, please, trust me on that one. For the best results, also in japanese.
Im really glad you enjoyed the openings. We enjoyed it too. Thanks for the reaction. It is sad that most of your old Digi toys were either thrown/given away/stashed away.... Just.... am glad you had a funny nostalgic trip.
Oh man, this is really nostalgic for me too. I think it aired on tv only briefly where i live, and i watched the movies on tape. That movie stuck with me in particular, because of the beautiful animation and the banger 90s music. It's where they go on the internet to defeat this internet virus digimon in order to stop a missile attack or something 😂. It's probably the one you watched as well! Maybe it'd be a fun idea to react to parts of the movie? Have a trip down memory lane 😊
Digimon Adventure 01 leads directly into Digimon Adventure 02, it's a direct sequel taking place a few years later with a changed up cast. From then on, none of the seasons have anything to do with each other, completely different human and digital worlds. (Until Adventure Tri, the last opening you watched, which is another sequel to Adventure 01 and 02.) The "Digimon, Digital Monsters, Digimon are the champions" was the english opening for the first series. It appeared in 02, and the movie (which was actually, I think, three different digimon movies stitched together then redubbed to be a continuous story, and made as much sense as that sounds like it would).
Digimon was my earliest obsession so its no surprise (and a bit embarrassing to say) that I have watched all of these series apart from Digimon Universe and most of Digimon Frontier (school got serious back then). Just unlocked every core memory I had missing with this video. Thanks!
I remember when The Movie was in theatres here, my gramma said that she'd take me to see it when it came to our local theatre, rather than go to one of the neighbouring cities. It never came to our local theatre. So I didn't see it until I got it on VHS, and now I've seen it nearly 40 times. Though my favourite Digimon series is Tamers, the third one.
Ok, Luke, how about if SOMEONE said to you that there is a six part set of movies that released from 2015-2018, then "Last Evolution:Kizuna" in 2020, as well as "The Beginning" that was recently out in 2023? . . Oh there is also the Digimon Adventure(the very first season) remake that aired from April 2020 all the way to September 2021. Now that was a fun and nostalgic thing to watch during the big-C days of quarantine. . . . . As for the evolution stages, as far as I remember: - Fresh. Literal babies that hatched from the eggs. E.g. Botamon. - In-training. The blobs that Luke mentions in this reaction. E.g. Koromon. - Rookie. E.g. Agumon. - Champion. E.g. Greymon. - Ultimate. E.g. MetalGreymon. - Mega. E.g. WarGreymon. Something to notice here after hearing the remake japanese dub. In japanese the WarGreymon stage is referred to as Ultimate.
digimon in japanese is a very different show, the english dub version was EXTREMLY censored, entire concepts were completly erased, its a much darker in themes in the original, also it doesnt have the extremly low iq jokes like the english version has
OH! Digimon finally! I love these series so much, it was one of my first conscious anime and I still do consider them one of my favourite anime to this day. Actually if you never saw the series, only the movie, it would be awesome if you reacted to them at one point!
Digimon was on in the UK, it was on Fox Kids and for a short time CITV. We only got season 1-3 though. And then years later seasons like Digimon Data Squad and Digimon Fusion were on Pop! and CITV.
I think I speak for everyone who has kept up with the original cast up until the latest movie that we just feel so melancholic seeing ALL of them already becoming grown ups, seeing them adulting and dealing with the adult world. We literally GREW UP alongside them and it feels so cathartic seeing how relatable they became in comparison to us in the real world 🥹 Sure, not all of the subsequent stories have hit the same (not talking about the spin offs, those deserve a different shout out), but seeing them going to college, working, hanging out at a bar as they're now older etc is just 😭 I love Pokemon too but the continuity and time progression of the story within the main Digimon story man... I don't want the story to end but at the same time that's how life is, things will come to an end eventually. My childhood 🥹❤️
These are so nostalgic, I watched most of the show and movies. Since you said you never watch the show it may be an interesting journey. Never seen the original Japanese show, but loved the English version of the show.
They don't make sense because these are from 9 different Digimon series. The first in the video is the first opening of the very first series and the rest are from all over. Here are the anime series in order (not of openings in video). Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers, Digimon Frontier, Digimon Data Squad, Digimon Fusion, Digimon Adventure tri., Digimon Universe: App Monsters, Digimon Adventure (2020 reboot of first series), Digimon Ghost Game
Digimon adventure 2 basically continue after the first one with more characters and older original cast characters, then it appears that xross wars had a sequel with the same principle.
Ahhh those songs...the anime..season 1, 2 and 4 were my ultimate favorite. I respect the english version but the japanese ones got me into the story and I became obsessed. Rip to the singer Wada Koji. His openings are unforgettable
Of all digimon season was Digimon Tamers the one I enjoyed the most. I was too young to process exactly everything, but it was the best when I couldn't watch Pokémon, now I appreaciate it for all the maturity it had while being digestible for kids back then. I should watch it again.
22:15 "Digimon, Digital Monsters" is the English opening/ theme song and it is an absolute banger. Also, the original Digimon show and the movie holds up very well to this day. Even though it is a "kids show"
When you need boppers, these are just 👌I open them at least once a week, so yes its a great time! :P Sadly the English content for the show is...controversial on the internet, but it exists, you're not crazy :p Also as a clarification, yes they all start as pretty much small blobs after they hatch from an egg. In most continuities, they are "Digital Monsters" because they are made up of digital data. When the monster acquires enough data, the data changes form and they "evolve". if they die and, they turn back into an egg and have to re-evolve through the stages, but they can take a different path, evolving into different creatures. Which evolutions they become can depend on a variety of reasons, but in the show its mostly linked to their personality and how their "monster tamer" treats them because human emotions are also expressed into data that empowers them (You'd have to actually watch the show or have a discussion to completely get it). Wild Digimon on the other hand dont have a partner to empower them, so the only way they can grow is by absorbing data from other monsters, in which case that monster does not get revived as an egg. Most of the monsters have 7 stages, but there's exceptions to the rules. Sometimes I'd just wanna ramble on for hours, but it's a comment section lol
This is something i did not expect but i do welcome. BUUUUUUUUUUUT please react to the German version of Tamers Digimon Opening. Overall i grew up with the german versions of the digimon openings at least the first 3 or 4. So you could react to them too cause in germany they Just rewamped the whole openings into whole other songs.

React to the English digimon openings!
Digimon Adventure and 02 are in the same continuity. Digimon Tamers takes place in the real world where Digimon exists only as a show and a game. The other seasons take place in their own universe including the games and on occasion they will crossover.
@@dansgaming2064 That is not accurate for Digimon Tri

And Brave Heart is the most HYPE inducing evolution song/battle song ever!
So true RIP Koji Wada

"Never give up" always cheers me up as well.
Best opening is the English opening of frontier.
Openings missing from the video:
-Digimon Universe opening 2
-Digimon Adventure: (2020)
-Digimon Ghost Game
He's an idiot, let it slide.
And all the English openings. I rather like the Digimon Frontier english opening too.
@@FalconSpirit A huge chunk of the audience is not english speaker, that's why he activates subtitles for the episodes during the reactions.
He should stick only to original opening reactions in japanese.
EVERYONE FORGET ABOUT "GHOST GAME" V': IT IS ONE OF THE BEST IN MY OPINION
@@FalconSpirit by going though that way it is also missing the German openings, european spanish, latin spanish, european portuguese, french, italian, brazilian portuguese and so on
So, to clear up a couple of things for this: The second opening is for the direct sequel of the first show. After that each one was a completely new show, with new characters, and mostly new Digimon being shown. Up until tri. which brings back the original cast. (And then there is the 2020 remake of the first show)
The connected threads:
Adventure 01 (season 1), Adventure 02 (season 2), and Tri (season 7) are direct sequels.
[medium connectivity]
From here on, each subsequent season is a standalone story with a new setting and new cast.
[0 connectivity]
Season 5, Digimon Data Squad is set in a world where Digimon coexist with humans out in the open. We get recurring background Digimon again, so that's nice. The MC here has an Agumon (the yellow t-rex boy) that's different from A01 Tai's Agumon. [low connectivity]
Season 6, translated as either Digimon Xros Wars (pronounced "Cross Wars") or Digimon Fusion paid homage to older series via cameos. [medium to high connectivity]
Season 8, Digimon Universe: App Monsters. I didn't watch this one, so not sure about connections. From what I saw, it seems to just be advertisement for a loosely connected mobile game. [?? connectivity]
Season 9, Digimon Adventure 01 (2020 remake). Don't bother. Not worth it. They somehow took everything that was charming and emotionally poignant about the original Adventure 01, and burned it all to the ground. [negative connectivity]
Season 10, Digimon Ghost Game uses Digimon in a "mystery of the week" sort of setting.
Adventure 2020 is a Reboot (not remake)
The biggest dreamer is so fire!
🔥
You have
Original gen:
Digimon adventure
Adventure 02
Adventure Tri
Adventure Kizuna
Adventure 02 "the beginning"
2nd Gen
Tamers
Third Gen
Frontier
Fourth gen
Savers
5th Gen
Xros Wars
Xros Wars: Boy hunters who kept through time (this season had a special crossover with all the past seasons)
6th Gen
Ghost game
Then theres the spin-off series
Digimon Universe Applimon
And then finally the reboot
Digimon Adventure: (also called Digimon adventure 2020)
Oh I had no clue 🤯🤯🤯
@@GOTGames yeah, the digimon series in particular you would have most remember, since you said you watched the movie, would have been Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02.
16:55 digimon always had them. In season 1, there was a digimon called angewomon
Let's not forget LadyDevimon here, her catfight with Angewomon still lives rent free in the mind of many people.
Well Lilithmon and Mervamon oh forgot about Rosemon as well probably the most alluring one
👀
since someone already pointed out my girl ladydevimon, i'll also mention sakuyamon. don't know if she was ever in the anime, i just know it's the final digivolution of renamon from tamers.
@@icefox94 yup, she was: by fusion digivolving with her tamer, Rika.
When you say that Movie 3 takes place in the middle of Digimon Adventure 02, do you mean right after the point where Ken redeems himself?
So many people saying the German ones are great as well, I'll have to check them out 💯💯
i found digimon and most anime in ger and the dubbed ops are magnificent.
i still listen to them on the regular.
i reccomend after listening to the originals for shows like dbz, pokemon, digimon, monster rancher etc to do the german ver. for comparison.
Digimon was my first anime ever. And will always have a special place in my heart.
Happy 25th Anniversary Digimon Animation
When it comes to digimon evolutions, there are a few stages. It goes in-training 1, in-training 2, rookie, champion, ultimate, mega, ultra
American version. The original version are: Baby 1, Baby 2, Child, Adult, Pefect and Ultimate (ultra is part of the Ultimate)
And some may consider Super ultimate the 7th stage of evolution.
Plus the jogress, the armor, the hybrid (and its tiers)...
@@johnnynoise7897 Actually I believe the American version is Baby, In-training, Rookie, Champion, Ultimate, Mega, Ultra. I don't think we had In-Training 1 and 2.
few?
also is ultra the official title for the super mega?
@@nexidal9656 those are just alternates to evolution
they still fall to stages like armor evolutions are champion to ultimate and even mega stages
omegamon is still mega stage maybe mercifull mode is ultra/ super mega
22:08 That is the opening for the American localization. Also, the localized "movie" was actually 3 different higher quality short films mashed together. (still have a big soft spot for it though)
They're redubbing them soon 👀
We do NOT talk about the digi rap. It doesn't exist. It shouldn't. It mustn't.

To be fair, the german openings are basically the japanese openings with better audioquality and german lyrics. At least for the first 5 seasons/shows (op 1-6), after Savers (or Data Squad in german) I stopped watching.
Besonders da Spotify viele und bald noch mehr hat.
yeaa man the german one is soo goood
Whos gonna tell him these arent different seasons these are different shows and the intro at 11:50 is a completely different cast of character 0-0
Despite being different casts they are in fact seperated as seasons. There are many japanese shows that do that.

why would you recommend "the show must go on" when the original theme is such a banger
All Gundam opening. Especially the 80s and 90s songs.
So, the list of openings in this were:
Digimon adventure: Butter-fly, sung by the late Koji Wada.
And the openings that were missing were:
Digimon Universe, Appli-monsters (second half): Gacchen, sung by SymaG.
Fun fact: Guilmon the red one was voice by Masako Nozawa who also voiced Goku from Dragon Ball Z. Imagine Goku as a digimon.

Welcome to the club!! Now you know how we feel.
Digimon is such a big part of my childhood.... The ending of Frontier gave me trauma.
"The robot dog in the corner" of op season 4 is not the same "robot dog" of the season 1 that you remember of the movie xD
Digimon has so many cool openings but The Biggest Dreamer is still my favorite. So catchy and thrilling.
For Digimon not only do you need to also check out the endings, you also need to check out all the evolution songs
Interestingly enough, Digimon Adventure arguably counts as an isekai.
The intros you remember are the English localization of the Japanese intos
Luke if you want another anime that started in the 90s and is still relevant today then check out the Yu-Gi-Oh openings.

More Digimon! The songs are absolutely gorgeous (at least in japanese and german, not speaking for english, haha).
YEEEEESSSSSS MY REQUESTS WERE HEARD IM SO HAPPY
Generations--> Seasons maybe?
UGH! So much pain! Digimon Ghost Game 'Faction' wasn't on here! That opening theme is so good! D:
same, loved the anime as well, it had it's issues, mainly that it fumbled a bit trying to balance it's episodic nature with the overall story but watching it just for the episodic stuff was so fun to watch every week

He finally did it! Oh, man, kudos! Thanks for doing this!
I believe now it's time for the Yu-Gi-Oh Japanese openings!
you, which is one of my most favorite reaction channel, reacting to Digimon is like a dream comes true :D :D :D
FINALLY!!!!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG!!!
Digimon Adventure 01 leads directly into Digimon Adventure 02, it's a direct sequel taking place a few years later with a changed up cast.
From then on, none of the seasons have anything to do with each other, completely different human and digital worlds. (Until Adventure Tri, the last opening you watched, which is another sequel to Adventure 01 and 02.)
The "Digimon, Digital Monsters, Digimon are the champions" was the english opening for the first series.
Thanks!
Dude You finally reacted to the Digimon Openings, YES!
I almost cried omg!! 💜💜💜💜 The nostalgia hit me like a truck!
The series did actually air in the UK, I remember watching the first two series on CITV when it first aired back in the late 90's/early 2000's
you touched the strings of my soul 🥺so nostalgic...
As someone who grew up obsessed with Digimon your reaction brings me great joy
Now that was a fun and nostalgic thing to watch during the big-C days of quarantine.
. . .
.
As for the evolution stages, as far as I remember:
- Fresh. Literal babies that hatched from the eggs. E.g. Botamon.
- In-training. The blobs that Luke mentions in this reaction. E.g. Koromon.
- Rookie. E.g. Agumon.
- Champion. E.g. Greymon.
- Ultimate. E.g. MetalGreymon.
- Mega. E.g. WarGreymon.
Something to notice here after hearing the remake japanese dub. In japanese the WarGreymon stage is referred to as Ultimate.
👀👀
never have i thought you will react to my childhood anime. so excited man
digimon in japanese is a very different show, the english dub version was EXTREMLY censored, entire concepts were completly erased, its a much darker in themes in the original, also it doesnt have the extremly low iq jokes like the english version has
First intro is all I need, and it's so heavy on nostalgia holy cow dude!
And then years later seasons like Digimon Data Squad and Digimon Fusion were on Pop! and CITV.
Even though I didn't watch Digimon, butterfly always makes me nostalgic 💜 such a good song 💜
digimon 1-4 were pretty good, you can watch them and not cringe, unlike most nostalgic shows from our childhood. you should give it a try.
Oh my god, I currently re-playing DIGIMON DIGITAL CARD BATTLE from PS 1 and you react to this.
vamos fandom de digimon, por fin llego el momento de la reaccion a los openings, Lets go!!!
I love the digimon ops.
I think I speak for everyone who has kept up with the original cast up until the latest movie that we just feel so melancholic seeing ALL of them already becoming grown ups, seeing them adulting and dealing with the adult world. We literally GREW UP alongside them and it feels so cathartic seeing how relatable they became in comparison to us in the real world 🥹
Sure, not all of the subsequent stories have hit the same (not talking about the spin offs, those deserve a different shout out), but seeing them going to college, working, hanging out at a bar as they're now older etc is just 😭
I love Pokemon too but the continuity and time progression of the story within the main Digimon story man... I don't want the story to end but at the same time that's how life is, things will come to an end eventually. My childhood 🥹❤️
this is so fun, even my self didnt really know and close with digimon, but it felt so heart warming rn... 🥺🥺🥺
Nostalgia. Don't remember the openings but I remember watch it. It was in Spanish though, but I don't remember story anymore. Enjoyed video. 🥰
These are so nostalgic, I watched most of the show and movies. Since you said you never watch the show it may be an interesting journey. Never seen the original Japanese show, but loved the English version of the show.
Oh, I would absolutely love to see you do a watchalong of Digimon Adventure now!
Yess yess yesss yesssssssssssss💥💥💥💥💥
They don't make sense because these are from 9 different Digimon series. The first in the video is the first opening of the very first series and the rest are from all over. Here are the anime series in order (not of openings in video).
Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers, Digimon Frontier, Digimon Data Squad, Digimon Fusion, Digimon Adventure tri., Digimon Universe: App Monsters, Digimon Adventure (2020 reboot of first series), Digimon Ghost Game
You forgot Digimon Ghost Games
@@Timmir00everyone seems to...its weird
Some series are just sequels, so not all of them are completely different from each other.
Digimon adventure 2 basically continue after the first one with more characters and older original cast characters, then it appears that xross wars had a sequel with the same principle.
@@Timmir00 fixed, Thanks
Sadly the English content for the show is...controversial on the internet, but it exists, you're not crazy :p
Also as a clarification, yes they all start as pretty much small blobs after they hatch from an egg.
OMG YES!!! It's time Luke. Have a Digimarathon 😎
You should react to the Tri moves one day, it has the original cast all aged up.
Please react to the Pokemon and Inazuma Eleven opening! They're also full of happy vibes.
