GAME MAKER: STUDIO 3D - RESIDENTIAL MAP TEST

- This is pretty similar to the previous video on this map, but I'm very happy how this turned out. The map itself has been ~ 70 hours of work, most of which in the creation & modeling of specific models & textures. The goal of this project has really only been to see how closely I could replicate my real life neighborhood. It's unlikely that I will turn this into any sort of game, but I may change my mind. Regardless, I think it turned out well!
Uhhh. I can't even get my 2D games to look halfway decent in GM:S. So.. This deserves major props.
At first glance I thought this was made with Unity 3D, but are you serious? Game Maker: Studio? That's beyond amazing.
I think this just goes to show the power that GM:S is capable of, especially with the right skill set. It's just a shame how much more difficult it is to create something of equal results with Unity in GM:S.
Game Maker is actually an extremely powerful engine but get's a bad rap because of the simplified programming language and how much asset flip crap get's made with either pirated copies or the free versions of the pre-studio versions
You've got to be kidding me! It is mind blowing that this was made in GM:S.
Holy cow that looks absolutely gorgeous! The only thing that sticks out to me however, is the map bordering. The map and it's detail is absolutely incredible however. Great job!
This may be one of the most amazing things Ive ever seen..
I cant believe that you were able to do something like that with game maker. You are a genious!.
Back when I was working with Game Maker, 5-10 years ago, these graphics were unthinkable. To see these graphics in a Game Maker project is a bit surreal, to be honest.
That's it. I give up. Screw gamemaker. That looked like real life and I can barely manage a damn stick figure.
Heh heh.
Graphics isnt matter what matter is how much you love making games and telling stories.
Jone Dylan graphics matter if you have a good game that you think it needs it or not, and to me, i love graphics, but i cant make them
@@dj420j2 graphics doesn't matter look at fall guys and fortnite and pubg and among us they don't have that great graphics
If you see this video on low video quality.....It will look so realistic...... Awesome Work
Ou my god! Its very beautiful 3d models in gamemaker Big like for you! :)
I pretended not to have seen this video when showing our favorite member of the Hundred Acre woods, CHRISTOPHER BOBIN!
oh hey jfun what are you doing here.
Nothing
I see you on a lot of videos too but I don't reply tbh :P
jfun300 lol me neither.
This is very impressive. Not the kind of thing I would want (or know how) to do but it is incredible that this is possible.
Dude, this is breathtaking work :) i love it !!
Holy shit. Nice. Your programming skills have xome a long way. O havent watched your videos in months.
How could this possibly be game maker? The graphic is so beautiful. :3
Jared. thank you for uploading this. I now have an idea of GM 3D limitations. they are preaty extended. Appriciate this alot. Hope to see a game of yours released or small demo. Great Job on this.
Hey great job on this little project you did, it blew me away!
I am impressed by this being made with game maker. I started with game maker 5.1 and have since moved on to python, c# and javascript.
This is insanely beuatiful!
You need to publish a game, weather its simple walkaround or maybe make like a horror it would be awesome! you have som skill.
Я просто уважаю тех людей, которые смогли до такой степени осилить game maker
Nice. I assume you were able to harness the GPU for the grass and stuff somehow, packing lots and lots of them into one model file or something? The GM I know would have a stroke if it tried to do that many draw calls on its own o-o
Also, you use GMMC? That program is a life saver, ain't it? 8)
Holy shit!! You made that in Game Maker Studio???? Wow!!
looks GORGEUS!
It's just wonderful.
Pretty awesome, I'd expect much more offerings from Game Maker Studio soon, as Yo Yo games was recently acquired by another company, they are pushing for a 2.0 soon, with this buy out it looks like they may be making big improvements to the software.
I've always wanted to play a game where it's like you're playing in real life like if you commit a crime then the police will arrest you and you have to escape. And you know just other real-life events
How did you do this? It would be great to know.
This is...
FUCKING AMAZING!
AWESOME !!!
This shit looks way better than COD Nuketown map.
Honestly thought thumbnail was a picture of a real house. Nice! I couldn't even get a 3D model to load correctly. Wondering, how does one do 3D animations, like skeletons and such? Making a 3D Space/Sci-Fi/Horror with my dad, and we couldn't figure anything out.
Using GM (what the engine in the video is using), skeletal animations/animations and general aren't natively supported unfortunately. There are work-around's and tricks you can do to implement animations, but nothing ideal. If you really want to get right into decently looking 3D fast, I'd probably recommend something like Unity, as it supports pretty much all aspects of 3D you'd really need.
You should get UE4 for something like that. Don't waste your time trying to do 3d with Game Maker. Sure, this is impressive, but this is as far as you'll go with this.
I cannot believe this game was not made using unity or blender or unreal engine 4, surprisingly it was created using game maker studio
the future of game maker...
Only 70+ hours to do this in game maker, that's unbelievable.
Well done! That looks like it was made in Unreal 4!
What? You must be blind or something. There are everywhere low poly models, textures looks blurry and they has no basic stuff like spec map and bump map. It still needs improvements.
TheExtremeGamer ! unmm i dont think youve ever seen something made in unreal
still nothing compared to unreal engine 4
because it's unreal it doesn't mean it is super graphics, you can make the same thing with game maker too. unreal is for lazy people. game maker is like a package with software to help programming. regards.
Julio Cesar Acevedo I agree it does look like made in unreal engine 4
Nice work man!
Pretty impressive.
So hard to even imagine.
27,000 billion codes, for this.
Sam321x [Labbo.us] lol 220000000000000000 lines of code I bet.
You too clearly don't know anything about coding. It's not the quantity of the codes. I am not an expert on 3D but I'll explain since I know GM for almost 2 years now:
1. 3D models: Use an EXTERNAL 3D editor and just export that and import to GM. I think the model movement is the difficult part.
2. Everything else with 3D (shadows, lighting etc.) is done by code but since it's just repeating for every model it's written juat once - in a script.
This is my opinion and my belief so no hate.
this is so amazing
Question: Which would be simpler to do when developing a small 3D game in the nature of Pokemon X & Y, GameMaker Studio or Unreal Engine 4? I mean, UE4 is powerful and all, but it's not really an FPS or a Physics-heavy game that we're talking about here, just a turn-based RPG with 3D meshes instead of sprites. Would the hassle of getting Gamemaker to 3D be much more demanding than getting up to speed of what UE4 demands, which includes proficiency in C++?
+Rune Knytling I have worked with game maker for a long time i would recommend ue4, the skills you will learn can be used in more platforms later on and with better resource management.
aww memories
wow, I'm pretty amazed by the graphics you have achieved. However, I think that it might be a better idea to use an engine more fitting to your skill. I recommend the unity3d engine simply because it's easy to use and for me it was the next step up. Plus you get the and/or better graphics for little to no effort. BTW dynamic shadows come included :3
improfision plz tell me your joking right? I'm not hating I'm just saying that if you spent that much time in an engine why not use that talent on a better/ more powerful one. Seriously though I didn't just mean unity3d, I also meant other engines like UDK or Cry engine. BTW don't tell me that you could recreate "The Forest" in Gamemaker :3.
Hi. Demonstration looks great. How do you animate grass? Does it animated by vertex shader or other technology?
Amazing.
This... Is.. Amazing
that is amazing!
this is amazing
Is that realy made with gamemaker:studio?when yes, that is a good job! - and now I learn gm:s ;-)
Arissa Sissy Hi
Dark Amulet hi
Arissa Sissy How are you?
Dark Amulet not so good...
Why?
Hello Neighbor... In GM...
this is awesome
Wow it would make a great new Myst engine.
very nice men!
This is really cool *claps*
How did he do this AMAZING WORK!!! I've been trying to figure out how to import 3d models into GameMaker for quite a while now. Plus so can't find a modeling software out there that works well with GameMaker...
you make the model, export it, then you have to convert it with a special program actually made in game maker
Jared, Michael, and I have been working together on games for over three years now ;)
It just takes time and dedication to create good-looking content in Game Maker, stick with it!
orange451 or just make the game in unity if it is 3d :/
Thats legitness
C'est incroyable !!!!!!!!
dude I have been using gamemaker for a long time but still cant get the 3d light stuff down do u think I can get some source code from you. And how did u get the grass and trees to look like that truly amazing
what program did you use to draw all this and make it look like that?
Hey Jared, why did you add weapons in this :) ? When you uploaded the picture to prove that this is made in GM, why did you add them...I am looking forward to see some zombie apocalypse stuff going on soon.
Also what did you use for this:
SSAO, Dynamic Shadows, Texture Filtering, anything else? :)
Add some walk sound effects, bird chirping sound effects, remove the music, make it night time and you have a horror game :D
Very good!
Its awsome!
You could send me an example of how you did, I'm trying to create a game in 3d that is in the video, I'll be happy for the help.
Imagine Half-Life but using this engine + shaders
Damn!
Just one question. Did you use any other programs?
no his just use game maker
DUDE PLEASE MAKE A TUTORIAL ON THIS... IF NOT PLEASE TELL ME HOW U DO THAT GRASS EFFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he made thousands of sprites, each sprite was a pixel zoomed out to max, I guess,
If I can make something like that I will be GOD...
I dont know how to do shadows and how to do grass animation so i would look asynchronic. How can i put so much grass on map without slowing down the game. Can you help me please?
Dude Iwish I could import models and make it look like gta 3 or vice city by the way the grass looks awsome good luck on your game
much better on occulus rift! :D
How did you manage the soft lighting?
He should answer this question!
+Alex Kunesh We used shaders to generate the shadow maps and then interpolated them at various transparencies and offsets to create a "smooth" fading effect.
+Jared sounds like a hard piece of code. This graphik looks amazing for Game Maker Studio!
Jared very inspiring!
not bad !
Hey i was wondering if you can tell me how to do the 3d grass
Can you help me start with 3D? ive been searching all day but all the videos i find are outdated af.
Lol, don't over-use the grass it's not like it's Cryengine or something :P
Just kidding, really nice, is this going to be in a game you guys are developing? Or is it just a side project?
Lol, I just love how the grass looks! xD! It's probs a tad too tall in this video, but that's not something which can't be fixed.
Right now, this is just a side project, but I'm having a pretty fun time making maps, lol.
the music reminds me of daredevil a little bit xd
Yo I first looked at this and I thought it was a fake because it looked so real and I thought you just took a picture of outside
wtf! how'd you do DAT?
+R Endras :3
programming is megic powers
holy shit you should like make like map remakes of maps in call of duty like you know zombies maps :)
how to follow camera player
3 days? hard to believe
The 70+ hours is a literal count of how long it roughly took. Say I worked on this 6 hours a day, then it took about 11 and a half days to make. The bulk of the time was simply because I was relatively new to 3D modeling and I modeled everything from scratch myself using software which was not ideal.
you made models with blender?
I don't suppose the houses, fences...are imported models?
They are loaded externally and were made by me in a GM-based programmed called Model Creator.
I found the program and a tut for it. Thanks! I see you use Shaders too! Nice.
wait...... this is GAME MAKER!!!???
IN GAME MAKER STUDIO?!?! HOW???
+Stupidityanimatedstudios Dear Stupidityanimatedstudios. If you want to make a game like this, you need very good experience, like shader programming, 3d coding, etc. if you want to look nice.
wow! incredible! are you using the free version or pro? if pro.. do you think you can spare me the details on the difference between free and pro that way i know if i can just work with free?
LinkMasterM7 I use the pro version. The main difference is just the extent of extra features and functions you can utilize. Like, with the lite edition, you can't do any 3D. Then there are things like extended draw calls, etc., (which are very useful) which you also can not use. And, I'm not sure if it's still this way or not, but I'm pretty sure the lite edition had the GM/YYG logo plastered onto your game.. which I'm not sure if you'd want. If you are seriously considering using GM, I would recommend buying one of the advanced packages. They go on sales quite often, also.
how the hell do you do raytracing in game maker?
Did you use a tutorial to make this? If not, will you make a tutorial? Did you create your 3d meshes in 3ds or Maya?
It think it's Blender, because I think the only way to make models for Game Maker is through that.
+Alex Kunesh Blender wasn't used. We used a program created with GM called Model Creator to make the models. I have a timelapse of me making a model with it on my channel, if you're interested.
if u made a titan wich is running to eat u and u can hide and run trust me it will be awsome because this game havent any goal
Where did you get graphic
Now do this in Game Maker 8
I want this game
you need to tell me how to make that sexy grass
How u made it possible on game maker studio 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Did you make it with GameMaker?
Aleksandr Q of fucking course you idiot
+The Green Developer Peoples don't like aggressive comments. Thanks!
Are you going to sell this in the Game Maker Marketplace?
what the hell did u do that dude can u post a video on how to make 3d games
