Digitrax can be great. All of the systems have some sort of learning curve. I would say digitrax is a bit more difficult, but once you know it, you actually understand how the DCC functions work from the inside out.
I am finally done with my benchwork and I layed out some of my old EZ track on it just to test out some of my zephyr's functions. your videos are EXTREMELY helpful, seriously, you actually saved me from sending in a mikado just like this one into service because it wasnt responding no matter what i did to reset it. turns out i was hitting the buttons in the wrong order. Now I have it fully programed with volume and address. I was also able to program my old Proto 2000 NYC E8. Thank you again so much for all your help and videos. They are LIFE SAVERS! :D
@Kvr3005 No problem, thats what this channel is for. I'm glad i was able to help. It would be nice if digitrax made it clearer for people that are new to DCC. I spent many frustrating hours with that box until I finally figured it out
Watched your video and it was totally helpful. My volume was way to loud also. Wrote down the steps and went in and got my volume lowered to a much less irritating decibel level. Thanks so much. Dan
Thanks for pointing that out. I had tested this and it worked for me before, but I wasnt sure if it was just a fluke coincidence, I will mention this in a future video. Thanks
I noticed that when you were taking your locomotive out of it's bow the was a little sticker on the box that said that to reset decoder to it's factor settings program CV8, does programming CV8 in any decoder reset it or does it do it for that specific decoder?
This is a simple solution. Just change the direction of the locomotive before MU'ing them. SO in the right throttle set in your loco, then on the left side of the throttle set in the second loco and change the direction to reverse. MU them and they will work in tandem in the direction you need to go.
For virtually all NMRA compliant DCC decoders, Setting CV8 to 8 will reset all settings back to the way the were when the decoder was made. As far as I know, MTH trains are the only exception.
I have a question. I have a digitrax zepher and I am trying to speed match two locomotives using a 28 step speed table.in the manual it says program cv's 65 through 95 with cv values from table v. For instance it says program cv 65 to a value of x01. My question is how do you program the value to the cv?
What decoder do you use the manual for my sd40-2 say digitrax dz 143ip what does ur manual say to use and what is mobil decoders that say four functions please help
you make the CV values be the number on the side of the cab, like 1630. IF your locomotive is new though it will be an address of 0003. You must program in any address (most people use the loco cab number).
@Sinistar24 all NMRA compliant dcc decoders, as far as I know, will be reset with CV8 by being re-written to a value of 08. I do not know about MTH trains. NCE, digitrax, TCS, and tsunami are some that will definitely work.
one more question. I just MU'd two locomotives they will run together in the same physical direction, but I want to run them enn to end (both locomotives facing the away from each other). How would I do this ?
Im sure there is a way to change it, but Im not quite sure how. Check the tsunami manual if you have it, or google it to figure out what will control that.
@Kvr3005 okay, if you want to program (lets say) CV 65 to a value of 100. First, press the program button with the locomotive on the main track to OPS mode, press the CV button and enter 6 5, press CV again and then press 100. After entering 100 press the CVWR button
I have the same controller as you I wanted to ask you something when I put the switch to forward my loco goes backwards and my head lights turn on when I put in in reverse it goes forward and my rear lights come on how do I change or fix this
+Twin Fun Connect the EZ track as you would with any other DC or DCC system, then plug the power leads ( one for each rail) into the rail A and rail B port on the back of the system.
I have installed a loco with tsunami sound and its chuffs WAY to fast. Could I change the speed of the locos chuffs with this? BTW im at a DC club so after programming will all that I have programmed carry on to DC?
You can change CV 29 and make it so the locomotive runs in reverse. I know there is a much easier way, but to be honest im not quite sure what it is. Good luck!
hey man my digitrax is flashing d nd when i try to change the address of one of my locos and it wont lit me change the address . only thing i can guess is it mean decoder not digitrax ? its not a digitrax decoder does have to be , its just a stock bachman decoder.
+Bud Whiteman there are a few standard NMRA CV's, but many are determined by the decoder manufacture. best to check manuals/online info for your specific decoder

Thank you for making this simple.
What a great video. Thank you for assisting me in how to work this.

ok just gona get digitrax for all my units then wont have worry about it wish i would have started out with digitrax lot better system.

Thanks for the demonstration! This really helped! :)

Can I use both Rail A & B and program A & B to run both my DCC locomotives with my Digitrax DCS 51 I have the Kato V11 double track set

Noob question; CV8 set to 8 applies to all decoders, all brands?

@modeltrain9500 Thank you so much. The digitrax manual assumes that you already know how to do this.

Glad I found your video think this should solve my quiet sounding loco?
How do you set up the digitrax zephyr with bachmann e-z track?
+Twin Fun
Connect the EZ track as you would with any other DC or DCC system, then plug the power leads ( one for each rail) into the rail A and rail B port on the back of the system.
ok, actually I have a athearn dc power pack, the wires are different from a lead wire and the plug in wire
I have installed a loco with tsunami sound and its chuffs WAY to fast. Could I change the speed of the locos chuffs with this? BTW im at a DC club so after programming will all that I have programmed carry on to DC?
so basically you put in your locos number??? so for exp: a frsico 1630(in the mid-west) you put in 1630 to change its cv's???
If you have any DCC questions I can help... I am the tech Director of my MRRC so please feel free to ask anything.
does the loksound select work with this system?
You can change CV 29 and make it so the locomotive runs in reverse. I know there is a much easier way, but to be honest im not quite sure what it is. Good luck!
I dont see why not, although you may have to reset the decoder and start fresh.
I have seen that message when the decoder is broken, and/or there is a short in the track somewhere. If it is a new decoder I would replace it
@ronoc931
I use a DH123, or DN143IP
It should, just find the volume CV and set them to your liking

do you know of a list of cv codes and what they do that is easy to understand?
+Bud Whiteman

Thanks, all of my stuff is either proto or atlas.
im running a blue line sd-40 with dcc and sound with a digitrax decoder
Exactly!
no problem!
I like this
thanks!
@BNSFCSX1
thank!, oh... haha i should fix that :P
your rear trucks on the loco were off.
nice video!..uhh.. u spell the tittle wrong!
