God's Home Among Humans | 2 Samuel

- This passage about God’s establishment and protection of the Davidic kingdom was picked up for various purposes in the first-century world, perhaps most strikingly by the early Christians who applied it to Jesus. David’s impulse that God should have a grand house was right, but God had bigger plans than David had imagined. By coming in the person of Jesus, God made clear that the grand house of his dwelling is creation itself. God makes human beings in such a way that it will be appropriate for him to come himself in the person of his son and be a human among humans. This is the hope revealed at Advent.

Despite reservations about his perspective on Paul, I love listening to his insights and the thoughts on scripture.
Thank you.
I absolutely love this!
Thank you so much for bringing these gems to us! I've been studying Rev. Wright's material for a while and I find the "lens" through which he reads the New Testament very fruitful. I'm wondering who is the "N.T. Wright of the Old Testament"? That is, can you recommend authors that offer in-depth commentary & synthesis on the Old Testament and who would have a similar overall worldview & hermeneutic as Rev. Wright?
Thank you for your kind words! Recommending specific authors is challenging due to the diversity in Old Testament scholarship. Engaging in theology and asking your question in our community group on Admirato.org would be a great option! Many on our forum have read Prof. Wright's works alongside Old Testament scholars and would be happy to offer options: www.admirato.org/products/communities/discussion
That would be Tim Mackie of the Bible Project.
Sir.
Sir, I just found your videos and a few of them. Got me interested in your teaching and understanding. But I'm confused because I don't understand how somebody who sounds so wise knowledgeable with understanding. Doesn't know that Christmas has absolutely nothing to do With Jesus Christ?
How is this possible.?
sorry for being so off topic...does anyone know why Prof Wright wears gloves so often? I have reynauds syndrome and thought maybe he does as well.
Your thoughtfulness of Professor Wright is kind. He has been using compression gloves to ease arthritis discomfort, but we're glad to share that the condition has improved. Thank you for asking
Mr.Wright, what version of the Bible do you use? Thank you.
In addition to the Hebrew/Greek texts, Prof. Wright often reads from the NRSV for the Old Testament and his translation, the Kingdom New Testament.
Amen
