"VS" is such a strong phrase, I see them as supporting elements for each franchise. I love Classified and Action Force with no end. Especially since the Action Sailor/Soldier are awesome, like any figures not perfect but damn are both figures close to being so
I'm a sucker for both lines too. One more for Nostalgia and the other for something new, fun, and rebellious. I definitely have both lines assisting each other in my head lol
For all the talk I have heard for a looong time now about Valaverse/Classified figs intended to be compatible, this is probly the first time I've seen them mixed in together in a manner that makes them look like they really do fit in with each other. 👍🏻
Look at the Infantry Commando as a Marine. The camo pattern is somewhat close and the colors are almost an inverse of MarPat. Neither Valaverse or Hasbro are going to pay the licensing fee and go through the approval process to use the official MarPat or AOR camo patterns and colors-just doesn’t make sense economically(although it would be great if they did). That’s why Classified Gung Ho didn’t come with the eagle, globe and anchor on his chest like the original o ring version did. As far as the equipment, reuse of bucks and repaints, both companies do that to the extreme. Neither could survive if they didn’t. Yes, Action Force needs new bucks, and they are supposed to be released in Series 5. They also need some new plate carriers and armored vests, but to design and produce a unique vest or carrier for each figure would drive Valaverse (or Hasbro, for that matter) into bankruptcy. The Action Soldier is a clever reuse of Stalker’s upper torso, which has been used for Retro SE, Wolf Spider and Grunt, as well as Rock ‘n Roll’s lower torso. The backpack, like you said is Outback’s, and the light/medium machine gun and AR rifle are Big Ben’s,p. The pistol and holster are from Rock ‘n Roll, as is the battle belt and radio. When you look at the entire history of G.I. Joe, you can see where reuse has been a driving force behind the line since the beginning. The original Action Soldier, Sailor, Marine and Pilot all reused bodies and headsculpts, just with different hair colors. They all reused uniforms and equipment, except for service specific uniforms. The RAH line did this with the original 13 figures, except for Scarlett, and now it’s Classified’s turn. I’m sorry for getting so deep in the weeds. I’m am older collector and G.I. Joe (and other action figures) have been a humongous part of my life since I was a little boy. I have a slightly different perspective because I have lived through and collected all of the eras of Joe. As such, I appreciate what Hasbro is doing now but I also like and appreciate what Bobby Vala is doing with the Action Force line. If he hadn’t brought out the AF line, Classified would still be stuck on Cobra Island with the sci-fi weapons and weird colors. You made and presented a great comparison and review and I didn’t mean to take away from that.
Bro i always appreciate your feedback. I'm glad you are passionate about all of this enough to comment so elaborately. I don't have an issue of reuse of parts especially if it works. As you can see my wallet doesn't mind lol. I've been trying to buy more Valaverse Action Force troop builders but once Bobby said to wait for the new bucks and it's possible they will be using them for version 2.0 of the troop builders I missed out on I decided to give the wallet a bit of a rest on paying $60+ for each fig I missed lol. As far as joes go man.... I can't wait to find a bunch of figs at Ross at 5.99. I definitely buy my doubles in the cheap of I can for customs. My only real beef with GI Joe Classified is those bad hands and sometimes defective torso like the very Loosy Goosey Firefly 2.0. I even enjoy the gumminess of the weapons now ever since I got a heat gun lol.
@@stephenhabacon6380 they are easily my favorites Wolf Spider is a close second for Classified and desert/ spec ops Steel Brigade is tied as Favorite with Infantry Commando.
@@CocoasmoothTheCasualColl-yo8bc Wolf Spider for me like Shockwave has potential but is underwhelming possibly due to his buck and other parts being borrowed from other Joes. He doesn't strike me as unique. Shockwave while great looking I feel lacks that certain something to make him memorable and take him to the top. Maybe it's the lack of backpack that's hindering him from reaching that full potential in terms of character coolness.
@@stephenhabacon6380 I don't like his backpack, his flimsy shotgun, and the yellow on his vest. It's his functionality (especially his hands) and troop buiding potential is why he's up there for me. If they sold him as a generic trooper and not an actual character I think he would be received better.
Dude great review. I Love these figures you are very detail oriented and that is great. A quick observation, you are covering a lot of the figure with your hands, and it makes the camera go out of focus.
Pretty good and fair assessment between both figures. I do like both and I will say having one of the infantry commandos I would buy more of the Action Soldier. They would work well for the grunts of the infantry commando and excellent fodder for other figures as I can swap in and out parts for customs. Each got their own highs and lows but at the end of the day we win as collectors.
@@CocoasmoothTheCasualColl-yo8bc hopefully not, though you might get the occasional troll here and there that wants to cause trouble but we buy what we like and I buy both lines too even if I tend to lean towards one brand over the other.
I agree for the most part. I think GI Joe is more a Nostalgia Market. The 60th anniversary was there attempt at trying to copy Action Force by using a bunch of parts and weapons that were already made. For me personally I don't like the weapons of the Action Infantry Soldier so I armed them up with 3rd Party Weapons. Valaverse gets there weapons right. I just wish that Action Force made closer to accurate US Army and Marines uniform colors and patterns.
Agreed! The wrist peg articulation was very tight. I had to work it loose, to get the right angle for. Now it moves nicely! Thankfully the plastic is softer. That wrist peg would have snapped if it were a more solid plastic.
First off I really enjoyed your comparison of these particular figures. Good Job. It’s fun hearing another collectors opinion on stuff many others have. I have these figures too & I’m originally a big G.I.Joe fan for decades. That said, to me Action Force troops won the battle here. Upon just the visual of these, AF guys look more intimidating & sharp. I like the various coloring. The Joe troops look generic & bland, I think the real world take isn’t as interesting. Remember Joe’s are supposed to be a “Special Mission Force” so I like them to be unique & exciting in appearance. Regular Joe troops have never been exciting, they are only for backup to the real “Joe Specialists”. AF troops pop better & they can pop their weapons with hands that hold on to those weapons. What good is a soldier who can’t properly maneuver & fire his weapons? No Joe ;) And those Joe weapons are weak soft & ugly..not what ya need for a true operator. I collect both lines, big Joe fan, enjoy the AF stuff, no hate here. After seeing your fair take, I told you mine. Keep it up, I will keep watching.
The one question that I should have answered was if I could only choose either AF or GI Joe then the answer would be AF because I already lived 80s GI Joe and I love where Valaverse is headed. Gun to my head AF is where I am going especially because of the points you brought up.
I like that GI Joes come with different figs & gear unlike Action Force that just keeps repainting the same shit over & over again. I get it Hasbro is bigger and Valaverse is saving money with the repaints, but I can't buy any more AF until they release new characters. Anyway I do like both sets. I did paint my action force boots tan, Valaverse likes to mix and match uniforms like the mint green on the snow figures. 🤮 Anyway thanks for the video Coco!
@@DanielRodriguez-bv9ud you assume too much and missed the point. You a grown man acting like you’re better because of what action dolls you collect. People will enjoy what they want to enjoy, while you’re on the internet puffing your weak ego over which dolls you play with and cheerleading for a toy brand like it’s a sports team. Congrats man.
