I concel carry my 97B in a iwb looped leather holster. It concels very nicely under my jacket, and no one is the wiser. I owned the FNX 45, but got rid of it. Way too snappy for my liking. My 97B handles recoil much more manageable. Can't beat CZs.
There are a lot of people who see lighter as better in a hand gun but in reality, especially in 45acp, a heavier gun will recoil much less making it much more controllable. I have been getting new people into shooting, friends and family who have are no familiar with firearms, and have been finding they don't like the polymer guns, they tend to be more comfortable shooting my all metal guns.
Only recently have I gotten into CZ. They are awesome!! I like the all steel guns, I've always been a wheel guy!! I've been looking at Sig and others, but CZ wins. I've tried the fnx tactical and it's ready for a fight. But I love metal guns. I'll probably get the 97bd as I never used the safety on my ruger's. ( Lol ). Capacity isn't important, if I haven't won in 8 or 9 rounds I'm probably dead anyway. Have a great day!! Rich 😁😁👍👍🔫🔫🔫🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sand paper, it is large but not as large as the FNX. Just as the FNX can have a smaller grip insert, the cx can have thinner grips. Some nice ones are aluminum. I have medium hands and the FNX feels like a 2x4 even with small grips. The CZ 97s and 75s feel just right to me. I think because they are more rounded and not flat sided all around. But that's just me.
I'm a Colt 1911 fan. Very old school. I just picked up a FN FNX with 4 15 round mags. It immediately made me a fan! Nothing against CZ or 1911 it's just that the FN just keeps impressing me. I even find carrying it more often than my compact and sub compact 9mm. It actually seems for one reason or another easier to carry.
Just sold a standard FNX-45 and bought a CZ97B, there really is no comparison on accuracy between the FNX and the CZ. The FNX was all over the place at 15 yards, even on a sand bag. The CZ was making 2 inch groups two handed at 15 yards.
That's got to be your hand or shooting style. My FNX was the most accurate pistol I've ever shot. Would have kept it if it didn't make blowing through 200 rounds of .45 in 20 minutes so damn easy.😆
Nice comparison. The only FN I like is the FNX 45 and I've have my eye on one. The CZ 97B is one of my favorite in my collection, I'm shooting it more than my 1911's. Great video as always.
Dear Big Johnson Guns and Gear - My apologies for the late reply as this is a new video to me. Did you end up changing out the rear sight? If so, what model did you choose and why? Also, did swapping out the rear sight require a different front sight too? Any information you could provide would be appreciated. Thank you. Take care. -Phil
The CZ can have a phenomenal trigger quite easily with some Cajun Gunworks parts. You also can find original grips that have more palmswell if you prefer. With the gun in single action mode you'll have plenty of room in that trigger guard too, or if you prefer DA Cajun sells a reduced reach kit which helps a lot.
You forgot to mention that the CZ 97B is also a double action /single action. Rock Island makes a double stack 2011 45acp 14&1. or you can step it up with the Big Rock 10mm 16 rounds double stack 2011. Both good choices.
If i had to pick one it would be the CZ 97B. Because you can get a spring kit for not that much money and make it into a competition gun. Also it's pretty accurate right out of the box. Another great review Big Johnson
The FNX45 is an outstanding handgun and the more modern choice for sure. I had an standard FNX45 a few years back that had a major issue though. When the gun's frame would get warm it would get soft and the gun would not fire in double action. The mag well would get so soft you could squeeze both sides and touch them together. FN took it back and fixed it on my dime. I bought it used, so that was ok by me. The FNP40 I had at the time ended up having the same issue, but FN took it back and replaced it free of charge with a new FNX40.
Ok I've just bought the CZ 97B 45. I'm interested in those grips for it. But have you ever tried a rounded grip on one side and the thin grip on the other. I'm right handed and small hands actually. But I've been thinking the rounded grips for the right side and the thin grips for the left side might be an awesome combo for me. I know you have huge hands, but what do yo think of my idea? Though the cost would be way more and I'm disabled an low income, I admit. But the CZ is a long term handgun. These polymer guns are great for duty use where you don't care about long term pass it down qualities. I carry a CZ P-10c and I know what great gun it is as a workhorse of a gun. But it is a work horse, not a gun you pass down per say. I am a 45 calibur fan, basic old fashioned American in that sense. But I can't have both a work horse and an awesome all steal 45 handgun. So I choose the CZ 97B 45, which is a great 45 made of all steal. Over a workhorse FN 45 that has more rounds but is made of polymer. Both great guns costing about the same. But if I'm paying more, I choose all steal construction which is a better long term investment. But saying this is only because I'm limited to one or the other and a CZ is a great brand vs a good brand polymer at higher capacity or because it's a 1911. So better brand quality, with a great calibur wins over a great calibur of a lesser brand quality. . This is coming from a 1911 45 calibur fan. I still want a decent 1911, but I prefer quality of make over model of 45.
It is a wide gun already so you may want thins on both sides...some offset grips can cause a pulled shot. You can also use my discount code BJGG10 & save 10% off any LOK Grips. Thanks for Watching, Carry On
I opted for CZ 97B..but I'm a CZ nut. Do you know if this gun is IDPA legal. I'm also going to send to CGW for "E" conversion. I changed to Dawson fiber optic sights & black rear but having trouble. I feel like front sight to low or perhaps I need adjustable rear...any suggestions. Great video & I subscribed. Thx

Big Johnson - I am guessing your CZ came with the Aluminum grips. I live in California and mine came with the original wood grips. I highly recommend you try a pair. I wear gloves in size large and thought a set of slim grips would fit my hand better, I was wrong. I sent the thin grips back almost immediately. What I found is that with the thin grips I don't get purchase on the sides, only the front and back. But with the wood grips they completely fill my hand.
Yes it did but I prefer lokgrips, he’s actually making me a set of G10 palm swells right now for my 97. I run lokgrips on all my CZ’s as you will see in my other videos. TFW Carry On
I've had the FNX 45 as well as other FN hand guns. Personally I don't see what all the fuss is about. Everybody gets excited over the 15 rounds it holds and to some im sure that's the deciding factor. I have sold all my FN's but I still have the CZ 97, there really is no comparison in accuracy or shooting operation, the CZ is solid and doesn't feel like a toy in your hand. Other than holding 5 more rounds there would be no reason to choose the FN over the CZ.
I would love to see a head to head CZ97B vs Jericho 941 .45 ACP I own Jericho's in 9mm and have other .45 platforms but these two should be a real interesting playoff and I would definitely buy the winner.

Mag bevel is good for grip but the whole bottom of the mag was designed so that if you had to take a dive, the angle would put your muzzle about were the target would be. So ive heard.
I have the fnx and I don’t know if it’s just me but if you shoot a pistol with your thumbs high, that safety bugs the sh&t out of my hand. I try to shoot it like a 1911 with my thumb on top of the safety but it’s not the most comfortable. However, it’s a cool friggin gun

Hey man, you obviously have damn good taste in guns, so I have a quick question! I have a FNX 45 tactical with the small backstrap, and it fits my tiny hands decently, how does the 97b compare to the fnx grip? Is the trigger reach in single action alot longer than the fnx? I appreciate ya and keep up the awesome work!
@@BigJohnsonGG and this is why I love all your videos because you have always been quick to answer questions and respond to your viewers, I appreciate it man, enjoy your labor day!
I've had the FNX for 3 years and it is my favorite out of all the guns I have. Not sure about the "snappyness" everyone is complaining about, my 5'2" wife handles it just fine as well.

I have shot both. I owned both. Both are good pistols, but one I think stands out more than other. Even though the FN holds more, is tactical, polymer, I found it snappier than the CZ. My CZ 97B is heavier, does hold less, I found it more manageable and accurate. In my opinion, Accuracy solved the capacity difference.I do own 15 CZ's and not bashing FN at all because I think they make a good product, but the CZ wins every time for me. More ergonomic, accurate and just feel better feel.
Well good info but note that he never did say which one he liked more and why......which was the whole point of watching his video in the first place....like which one is better and which one would you prefer?
I own an fnx45, sweet shooting gun for the money and cant beat having 15+1 rounds of 45 acp at the ready. Dont buy a gun based on brand, buy based on what is more comfortable in the hand and practice practice and practice more. The best gun caliber is the one that hits the target consistently
I'd have to go with the FN I may not have gorilla hands like yours but my snausages finger with gloves would have a problem with the CZ. Plus I like the capacity
I like the CZ-97B more than the FNX-45, I wish CZ would do something about the magazine capacity. We're not living under the Federal AWB anymore. The largest extension I've seen is the +2 from Henning Group. Which is no greater than the FNX-45, or other 45s. Even with the P10F 45, they could only squeeze in 13 rds. Meanwhile FN dropped the FN545 with 18 rds in a factory extended magazine.
Might have ruined the video to give all the specs besides weight, like barrel length of each, height, width, oal, weight fully loaded, etc. BTW, how much do extra magazines cost for each? The 97’s can run $45 or more. That’s a comparative factor. It would have been nice to see the guns stacked, or side by side to see differences in width, length, height a bit more accurately. But all of those are objective comparators...too much to ask in a gun comparison video? Yep, a comparison that is a bit more objective than, “I really like .”
I have an fnx45. Never carry it. These guns are just too damn big. However, I will never sell mine, just too much fun and God forbid someone breaks in when I'm here. Lol :D
Big Johnson Guns and Gear I have no idea what the deal is but there are a lot of people who would like to buy Scar, Five-seveN or this FNX beauty but it is almost impossible because there are no FN distributors for civilian users.
Good deal, TFW Carry On
Absolutely 2A! Great video(s) BTW
Thanks Brother! Carry on
Well good info but note that he never did say which one he liked more and why......which was the whole point of watching his video in the first place....like which one is better and which one would you prefer?
I gave info on both & never said there will be a winner? I like & still own them both. Thanks for Watching, Carry On
Love the FNX 45, and I've had every iteration of it. I've never even shot the 97B, but not for lack of want. Looks like a winner for sure!
TFW my Brother! Carry on
Call it p97
I love them both equally for different reasons.
Anything against the tactical version?
No I have owned it. Carry on
I bought a SIG P220 legion yesterday and it’s absolutely amazing.
Why can’t my cz 97b not fit 10 plus 1? Is there something wrong with mine.
Mine is 10 in the mag & 1 in the chamber totaling 11. TFW Carry On
I have zero experience with the FN, but I love the CZ
Good deal, TFW Brother! Carry on
Should i get the FNX 45 or save for the staccato p
I like both, but much prefer the Staccato P.
@@BigJohnsonGG Thanks for the reply
At the 4:04 mark, what the hell? Lol, great review though. I gotta go with the CZ myself. Steel is Real.
Good deal, TFW Brother! Carry on
Just picked up cz 97bd traded steyr l9a2. Took 2 and half yrs for shop to get 2 cz 97s. No brainer. Czechnology for the win.
Nice video Big J . Love that CZ ! Hope you are doing well .
Thanks Dave, I appreciate ya! Carry on
I have had the FNP tactical for a couple years longer than the CZ 97, hasn’t been shot since
Cheers
Thanks for Watching Brother! Carry on
I own an fnx45, sweet shooting gun for the money and cant beat having 15+1 rounds of 45 acp at the ready. Dont buy a gun based on brand, buy based on what is more comfortable in the hand and practice practice and practice more. The best gun caliber is the one that hits the target consistently
Yes Sir, TFW Carry On
I'd have to go with the FN I may not have gorilla hands like yours but my snausages finger with gloves would have a problem with the CZ. Plus I like the capacity
Good deal, TFW Carry On
I like the CZ-97B more than the FNX-45, I wish CZ would do something about the magazine capacity.
Agreed, thanks for Watching.
I'd have to go fn. For carry. Weighs less and higher capacity. But you can send me either one. Good comparison.
TFW My TX Brother, Carry On
With the extra ammo of the FN, wouldn't the weight difference be reduced to the point that the difference couldn't be determined while on the hip?
If you need more then 10......
@@chaboi7 sar. K2-45 has 14 rd mags lol, it's basically a 97 clone
@@joelriggs9153 micro draco, 75 round drum, end of story.
I put the same sights on my fnx 45 and a light. My home defense gun.
Good deal, Carry On
Cz for the win 🏆
Might have ruined the video to give all the specs besides weight, like barrel length of each, height, width, oal, weight fully loaded, etc. BTW, how much do extra magazines cost for each? The 97’s can run $45 or more. That’s a comparative factor. It would have been nice to see the guns stacked, or side by side to see differences in width, length, height a bit more accurately. But all of those are objective comparators...too much to ask in a gun comparison video? Yep, a comparison that is a bit more objective than, “I really like .”
Glad You Enjoyed It! Carry on
You can get a better side by side comparison by going to your local gun store and asking to look at both of them.....😬
Great content...thanks!!
Thanks so much Brother, Carry On
I blew up my fnx .45 so I bought the fnx 9, 5.7 and the 509 tactical. Im thinking about buying another fnx .45
There great Guns! Thanks for Watching, Carry On
I have an fnx45. Never carry it. These guns are just too damn big. However, I will never sell mine, just too much fun and God forbid someone breaks in when I'm here. Lol :D
CZ is fantastic.
Looks CZ all day long but if I were to buy one it'd be the FN! That FN is one heck of a gun!
It is a great gun for sure! TFW my Brother, Carry On
Both nice bro but i would go with the CZ!
Good deal, TFW Carry On
Sweet blasters! Awesome video Big J!
TFW my Brother, Carry On
CZ97B SIG P220 HK USP45 and Ed Brown are my 4.
Yeah 1911 mil-spec and XDM 5.25 AND my Desert Eagle in 44mag are my carry guns
Really? Desert Eagle and XDM 5.25" for carry?
Gotta love the 45s!
Yes Sir, TFW Carry On
If you want gun advice, you know you can trust a guy named Big Johnson.
Only gun chambered in 45acp missing 5 rounds in comparison to the fnx and some how you walk off happier with the cz that thing is sexy as hell
Good video
O Heck Yeah love the 45's
Yes Sir, Carry On
If the CZ could keep as many rds I would have purchased that but I have an FNP and a G20.
Good deal, TFW Carry On
Agreed, a CZ custom (not that this a CZ Custom) is hard to beat. That being said. If the CZ came in thirteen rounds or more CZ all the way.
I like the 15th plus one but i will go with the 97b
Good deal, TFW Carry On
It is so sad that it is almost impossible and at least very hard to get any modern FN firearm in Europe.
Wonder why that is? TFW Carry On
Big Johnson Guns and Gear
I have no idea what the deal is but there are a lot of people who would like to buy Scar, Five-seveN or this FNX beauty but it is almost impossible because there are no FN distributors for civilian users. In some countries it is possible to buy them with help of professional agents but you have to add that extra money for them.
Understood, Thanks brother. Carry on
Cz 97 B without question , but l want to see this guns new version for example they should change barrel lugs such as Tanfoglio 45 acp
No contest... I'll take the 1911 for the win Big J.... LOL
Thanks my Brother, Carry On
FNX45 Tactical is my fave 😍
👍
Thanks for Watching, Carry On
Glock 21. Or either..... STI is way too expensive, for now.
Good deal, TFW Carry On
Would have enjoyed seeing the trigger action of the CZ.
I have a full video review on it. Carry on
