I get asked "Were you afraid he was going to bite?" -- Answer: Nope! Octopuses are SUPER smart and from my understanding & experience, they’ll only bite prey items they know they can subdue & eat - another fun fact about octopuses is that they have donut shaped brains that wrap around their esophagus- they tend to not bite off more than they can chew! 🐙💙💙💙 In the rare instance they do take a nibble-- it's because they're scared and being handled inappropriately. Glad you all are enjoying the video!!! If you're not apart of our facebook group - visit www.OctopusFanClub.com
I just found this Channel and I'm in love! The octopus is the most awesome Critter ever! It just never ceases to amaze me how smart they are! I recently saw a video of two female octopuses in their nests throwing sand and shells at each other, how awesome is that?
I believe that the donut-shaped brain is only part in squid, but not octopuses. I know that Squid can get actual brain damage from trying to bite off too much. Octopuses brains are actually located further up, sitting on top of their buccal mass. So slightly above their beaks.
Wow! The way he splayed himself out and changed that white color. It was like he was responding to your gentle and compassionate/understanding touch. He relaxed, let you “see the real” him. That was incredible.
Love my aquariums, all my fish. None are as fascinating as an octopus. Their curious, and intelligent nature is mesmerizing. I can watch them for hours. They not only interact with their humans, they like to be handled, they play with toys, they are simply the most fascinating creatures in the ocean. An invertebrate that can solve complex puzzles, make and use tools, they are simply amazing. If anyone hasnt seen the documentary, MY OCTOPUS TEACHER, I highly recomed it. It chronicles the lifespan of a small female that befriends a diver for the better part of a year. Its a great documentary of this fascinating animal.
Hi Godzilla! I definitely believe that they could be protective. I used to visit the Giant Pacifics regularly at the Vancouver Aquarium and sit on the little ledge by the tank and visit. Over the years, some would get to know me, and react quite emotionally when they recognized me, then sit and visit. One, in particular, would react aggressively toward others who were curious and seemed to be interrupting our time together.
@@octopusfanclub I've written a novel from the octopuses point of view wherein he fights polluters and the Chinese government using only brute strength and brutal violence.. it's called "Satan's Pawns Face Justice"

Since I’m rather new to the Octopus fan club, I always have to chuckle when the title says Giant Pacific Octopus and I immediately think of one in the process of pulling a ship underwater! Godzilla here is absolutely fascinating and one big enough to fight a Sperm Whale would be more than a match for an Aquarium collector, and old enough to avoid it.

Firecracker is right. You can just tell he's got a big brain and a intricate nervous system that's lit up like a christmas tree. I've always been attracted to octopus too, they're just amazing. I could probably get an octopus tattoo ;)
It's amazing to me, how they can control each individual sucker, on each individual tentacle, and, even remember which suckers, on which tentacles, they're wanting to put to use, at any given time lol ETA- Hello, run-on! 🤦🏽♀️😆
Yeah the amount of control of every single sucker was amazing to see. Each one is almost like a little hand. And there's like 250 of them per arm!?!? You can tell how that whole octopus is wired with an extraordinarily dense nervous system, plugged into an incredible brain.
Glorious! Love it that in Ian Tudyk's Resident Alien series octopus get recognized as being hyper intelligent. The only reason they don't communicate with us is because they don't like humans. :)
Friendly feller, looks like. Octopi are smart, they are probably curious of us as we are of them, especially in a non-threatening environment. One thing I've heard is their suckers can taste, so they get familiar with you by taste like some animals do scenting each other. They look like they would be slimy, but that probably just comes with being wet; if I had to guess it's what smooth muscle inside the body would feel like. This makes me want to hang out with one; these critters are so neat.

Are visitors to the exhibit able to touch him, interact with him? Will Godzilla play with humans? (He shoots water at you. If you splash back at him, will he shoot you again? Does he have toys?
