Videos like this are golden gifts. Sincerely dear sir I cannot thank you enough. This info I am searching the past few years and even by teachers I couldn't find a clear answer. Thank you
After 17 years of not playing a guitar, I've decided to pick it up again. This time, I want to learn it right, So I have just started your Learn and Master course - and am loving it. So thankful you also have this youtube channel. You're an excellent teacher Steve and your enthusiasm and encouragement is so appreciated!
Hello Steve, thank you so much for your channel, I love it. I am completely blind, physically. And I am re-learning the guitar. Your practicing tips are awesome, thank you so much, many blessings.😎😎😎
Steve you are legend, keep your great work!!! 😁🎸 I like your lessons and your songs always sound great! I recommend to all guitarists to learn as much as possible from this man, he is among the best teacher you can find today.
This is great stuff! Thanks! I use 3x5 cards and I have a card for each song that I am working on. I have over 60 cards. As I play a song I place the card on top. This way I can see which songs I forget about as they move to the bottom of the stack. I have a spacer card with "Daily" on it. I make sure the songs I want to play everyday are above this card.
Thank you so much for this worthy refresh on guitar practice. It may seem obvious that practicing is learning something new, enhancing the horizon with new skills and so often after a while one is just "noodling" around the existing knowledge. This lesson helped me much to re-focus my daily practice. And I can confirm that 10 minutes a day is so much more than 1 hour during the week-end. The repetition is key to get the whole in the muscles. "Knowledge is only a rumour until it is in the muscle." proverb from Papua New Guinea.
Hope youre going to do the instructional you did in learn and master guitar the most practical and comprhentional guitar tutorial here in your channel lots of thanks been youre student for more than 10 now.
Oh Dear Stevie... I was starting to get worried where #guitargathering has gone...cuz I haven't been notified/updated hitherto! Oh, thank you, Sir! It's still here! 😍🙏 I'd always love to get notified whenever there's a new thing coming in here...🙏 And, yes, your 🎸 = 🔥...Wots that?! 😮😮

Isn't that third stage called noodling? It's how John Butler wrote Ocean! Great lesson btw. I have a practice schedule and stick to 3 songs at a time about 10 mins each. For a warm up I play stuff I aready know. The noodling bit is where I start composing and recording. I quite often find really late at night is a great time because its so still. I am still working on Steve Howe's Clap now for 2 years and there are some parts I just can't quite master. I break it up into sections and just repeat them until my fingers are sore. Then I leave off and let my muscle memory do the rest. Some days I can pick up my guitar and rip straight into it and some days it just doesn't work. We all have our peaks and troughs. I also do finger excersizes because I am pushing 70 and have some arthritis problems in my bones. Playing guitar keeps my spirit young. I would add to your lesson always keep your instrument clean and in tune and buy a quality instrument because this will motivate you more. I am just starting my channel devoted to the 12 string guitar. Check it out. ZEN and the ART of 12 String Maintenance.
Practice vs learning. My problem is I want to learn more and more. I have an hour a day. What do you suggest? I’m a senior at intermediate stage. The other problem is so much to learn. Fingerpicking, chord changing, scales etc etc. How do you find a balance? It can all be overwhelming. Got any suggestions? BTW your lessons are absolutely awesome. Thanks!
Great information Steve. I am a 'lazy' guitarist. I love playing along with songs that I like but I haven't been practicing on fundamentals. This will definitely help me to be more structured.
