The data tells us that if we want to see gender equality in our lifetimes, we need to start doing things differently. That’s why we helped create the Equality Can't Wait Challenge, which called for innovative ideas to accelerate progress for women and girls and promised to put real resources behind them. While these submissions rose to the top, if there’s one thing the response to the Challenge proved, it’s that there are many more great ideas where these came from. Our country has a long history of underinvesting in gender equality, and it’s time for that to change. I hope today’s awards bring us one step closer to a future where gender equality gets the energy, attention, and investment it deserves.
