    When teams welcome their franchise legends back for one more go-around, it's usually for sentimental value. But in these cases, these All-Star players went out on a high-note in their old stomping grounds.

      Pujols emptied the tank. I remember he had to change his foot part of stance since he got injured with plantar fasciitis. Maybe he went out with all he had, because more than likely wouldn’t be able to recover next season.

      @@Hacksaw_HIM_Thugginyou’re right. Though plantar fasciitis isn’t as much as an acute injury as it is a chronic problem. 0:16 As a Rays fan they absolutely need to do this, it'd be the perfect sendoff for him and give him a chance to reach 2,000 hits and 350 home runs to put him back in the HOF conversation, not to mention he's still good at hitting against lefties and solid at defending so they might as well go for it and use him as a platoon piece. Plus imagine how much it would increase attendance and jersey sales from his return.

    • @robinsiefkin8326
      @robinsiefkin8326 Месяц назад

      As much as I would love this personally, there is no way they would do that without more things going seriously wrong in the injury department. Paredes, Mead, Caminero, and Rosario are all righties that mash lefties and can play third base. DH is Yandy's on his day off in the field, and Harold's when its not Yandy's. There just is not space at the moment. Longo wouldn't get enough, if any, at-bats to get those achievements.

      👏👏👏

    • @ryangale3757
      @ryangale3757 Месяц назад +3

      Problem is, where do you play him? He's not getting much time at 3rd since Paredes is already there, hits righty, and is probably a better overall player, and the Rays already have Harold Ramirez to DH against lefties (he's struggling now, but expect at least that part of his game will normalize with time). What the Rays need is more lefty bats, and well, there are 3 who will be back eventually that will need roster spots and Longoria isn't likely to hold onto one over them. Now, if Harold Ramirez gets hurt, then Longoria makes a ton of sense, but til then, Brandon Belt makes more sense as a bench bat/DH addition than Longo does, which pains me to say since I too would very much like for him to come back home for a nice sendoff season.

    As a Yankees fan, having Tino Martinez come back to finish his career in 2005 was awesome. He was a big part of that dynasty era and seeing him get dismissed so easily to make room for Giambi really hurt as Tino had a monster year in 2001.
    It seemed like just a nostalgia farewell tour at first. The Yanks got out to a terrible start in 2005 and were in the AL East basement by the time May came around. Out of nowhere, Tino went on this crazy home run stretch and his hot streak singlehandedly helped them climb out of the hole.
    In that eight game span, he hit 8 homers with 17 RBI.

      Probably would have gotten in the Hall of Fame his 2nd or 3rd year too. Probably would've placed higher in MVP voting. Probably gets another all star nod and a silver slugger or two (probably steals one from Juan Gonzalez or Jose Canseco)

    Eddie Murray went back to Baltimore in 1996, hit his 500th home run at home in Baltimore, then hit .333 in the playoffs over two series.
    Considering the somewhat ugly way Eddie left town in the first place this was a miraculous re-union. The relationship was repaired enough that when Eddie retired after 1997 he became an Orioles coach for 4 years.

    What I think happened with Pujols is, and mind you I have no proof just a feeling, I think pitchers were throwing some easy to hit pitches for him. Putting on my tin foil hat for a moment, his homecoming to st.Louis, him turning back the clock to reach 700 seems a lil to perfect to me lol

    Kenny not being in the Hall is so infuriating.

    Didn't Lofton do it twice with the Indians? He was traded to Atlanta, returned to Cleveland for another great run and then came back a third time late in his career.
    He also started with the Astros if we're getting technical.

    Kenny Lofton had a season with the Stros before becoming an Indian, so the statistic should be 9 out of his first 11 seasons, also accounting for his uear with the Braves

    In my opinion, Pujols would have gotten the HR record if he didn't leave STL.

    Rickey fuckin’ Henderson! Oakland A’s, 1989! Excuse my language, but Rickey would have wanted it that way.

    All jokes aside how the hell is Kenny Lofton less worthy of being in the hall of fame than Harold baines

      I guess the veterans committee is simply working chronologically. Since thats how Baines got voted in. And his career ended first
