Excellent video! Always appreciate your explanation(s) and examples. Thanks for sharing!
Greatest addition to Photoshop EVER!! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much Anthony for the informative and useful tutorial on Generative Expand! God bless and good luck!
Great video as always. I too have loved this feature and have been quite happy with the results. Very helpful when I missed a short and did not have as much headroom on a portrait as desired.
One small point. Technically, I would say that the algorithm is extrapolating as opposed to interpolating. With generative fill, then interpolation would be correct.
Thank you
Thanks Anthony. Are the added areas low resolution?
Wow!
I think you mean extrapolate rather than interpolate when illustrating Generative expand. Another suggestion is rather than generate more images when an initial generation is a little off, use generative fill within a small selection to make the correction. The Remove tool might also do the trick.
I wonder why no one zooms in after the image is generated 🤔
It’s blurred like hell. 1024x1024px is the render cell. All above this will be stretched so it will end in a blurry mashed pixels.
Thanks Anthony! Did you find a type of image that Generative Expand did not work well on? Landscape, wide angle shots or ....
nicely explained, when i expand the crop, i do not get these blank pixels but just black. and it just creates something else or add more random stuff while i need the same image expanded.
Does generative fill expand also have the 1024 pixel slection limit before the fill gets degraded?
Thanks Anthony . Have you encountered any problems using “edit with “ Lightroom Classic to Photoshop beta version 25 ?
Amazing. Maybe we will see glitchy images like the cut softbox from now on. I wonder if the program will expand images with "forbidden" content. You can always take a spot from one generation and combine with another.
The program occasionally refuse to generate because of perceived inappropriate content even when it is not. Pixelimperfect suggested putting a full stop in the prompt box and then press generate. This sometimes eliminates the warning message and allows the generation to proceed.
It’s a Christmas miracle!
Hi Anthony great videos how do i open Beta from camera raw i can’t see how to do it you have explained how to access it from lightroom or have i missed it ?
When do you think they will ever add this to the regular Photoshop program? I have all my plug-ins in the regular version of Photoshop and don’t want to mess with switching all that around.
I upgraded to Beta v25.0 but the “edit in” from Lightroom doesn’t work any longer. Apparently this is now a know bug. So I rolled back to 24.7. Can you comment on this issue. Adobe is aware of the problem so I assume there will be an update to fix the problem.
I also upgraded to v25.0 but generative fill wouldn’t work for 90% of the time
I have the same problem. After a number of error messages it eventually works (but it really slows down the work flow).
Did something change with this feature today? it worked great for me before but now on the new update it shows the lines were composition use to be and doesnt blend at all looks . ive been messing with the new update all day and this option doesnt
not work good with new update.
A cool feature.....when it works.
Does it keep the original resolution or is it still 1024?
I'm surprised you didn't mention this 😵💫☺️
I was about to post something similar. He was using low res images which was OK but it becomes very noticeable with high res images.
@@19Photographer76 apparently it still renders at 1024 🫤
Hopefully they'll release the full version very soon.
Many Thanks for these kind of videos. Great to learn in these fast turning KI/AI - times. Follow since a long time (from Germany).
I have updated the latest version and have an issue with PS beta.
Generative fill answers alsways with fault 408 in the latest version of beta (Version 25.0.0).
On the other had it is not possible to start PS Beta from LR Classic. Since in LR the 1st external software is named as Photoshop 2024. But LR can not start since in the application folder I have only PS Beta or PS 2023 (the regular software). This occurs on a Win10 system where I am not able to chance the application - only choice is Photoshop 2024 - do you have the same issue with your Mac system?
I have Windows 11 and experience the same problems going from LRC to Photoshop 24. I have found that by launching P24 I click out of it and go back to LRC a couple of times and wait for a boy a minute or so. Then Adobe says it can't launch so I hit the OK button each time the message come up and then Ps24 opens up and I can use Generative Expand. It's tedious and time consuming but worth the weight.
Version 25 is broken at the moment. Generative fill won't load and it's frustrating.
It's not "Wow" until they can manage 6000 pixel/300ppi expansions. 1024 is very limiting for quality printing.
You can try to expand it again. Expand it 2 times or even 6 times and you have a 6000 px expansion.
You would get MUCH better results if you were to add some of the original image to the selection!
its resolution capped, so better to do one side at a time
Isn't it about time these beta things were migrated to the main prog?
not use for hight resolution image...
A no go for me until it works with full resolution. But that will take a lot of waiting time I suppose!
All this does is save a few clicks, it's nothing new.
