everlong sounded like shit lmao
The verse part of Everlong was so off
One day soon the world will run out of gh guitars. That will be a sad sad day
when that gets close to happening, we'll find a way to make new guitars. *i have hope for this community*
Damn never thought about that
Get some guys from the 3d printing community to work on that lol
I've been thinking about. You know how Xbox has their elite controller with more weight and special features? What if a third party made like elite guitar hero guitars?
The logic of the controllers are on ICs that last for a very long time. The mechanical bits go bad much sooner, and can be replaced with almost identical parts
the reason your guitar overstrums is because the reelback from the springs inside the switches themselves propels the strum bar to pop back into its neutral position with a bit too much force, causing it to either up strum or down strum inadvertently. the tape just decreases the distance in between the down/up strum and neutral position, which decreases the force exerted on the spring and thereby decreases the reelback on the other switch.
ive found that all you need to do is replace the springs inside the switches with weaker springs and voila, no overstrum :)
I thought about it myself too when I took my overstrumming switches apart but didn't bother to test new springs. Good to know it works. I have many overstrumming xplorers but all the les pauls are fine. I wonder if they used different springs in the production, the switches I've soldered off of xplorers aren't nearly as rigid as Les paul switches.
Where do you recommend getting said springs? My Wii guitar has always been overstrummy but recently it's gotten ridiculous. Can't even play the Soulless 4 intro (yes, the slow 4 notes part) without it overstrumming 30%+ of the notes for reference.
@@0dayExploit mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_list&c=740
any springs that are less 60cn :) (i went with 30)
@@0dayExploit keep in mind that not all overstrum issues are the same; the reelback from the springs is the most common issue, but there are other less common overstrum issues where the switches themselves actuate more than they need to randomly. ive found that the only way to fix THAT issue is to just replace the switches altogether.
@@MrCurryCH Ah yeah that sounds more like my issue. So, instead of just springs, where would I find switches?

You dont... lol
Did you try scissors and cutting around the edges?
This has been one of my favorite series of yours. I think content creators really undervalue how much people love to see their 'setup' or their tricks-of-the-trade. You build a brand off of inspiring people to play and chase scores like you, it's awesome that you want to share your tips!
As for a Part 3 I'd love to see the same tutorials done on an X-plorer or your top 10 warmup songs and why.
Part 3: How to hit notez?!?!?!
That's the one I really need
Thanks for the awesome guide, just opened up 2 guitars like those and everything was perfectly matching yours even including a piece of hair inside.
I must saying that it's a wonder most of those guitars still work to this day considering how cheaply they were assembled with pieces of hot glue and solder all over the boards
Interesting! I've been repairing my guitars for probably 6 years or so now, and I never knew about this. Another solution, which is what I use, is strengthening/replacing the springs within the switches themselves! If you're able to solder, before you solder on the new switches, open them up and either A) double up the springs by taking a spring from an unused switch and placing it inside the first spring or B) outright replacing the current spring with a stronger one (though, you don't want a spring with TOO much tension!) I use this solution as it eliminates 100% of all overstrums, though it makes raking significantly harder (borderline impossible tbh). You can even do this without removing your current switch, though it's a little trickier because getting the switch put back together while it's still on the board is a bit irritating lol. So yeah, there's another way to do it!
Either way, really awesome to see someone in the community make a nice in depth repair/mod tutorial for everyone! Hope we'll see a soldering tutorial in the future :)
If the strumbar switches are too sensitive on your guitar, you can place some paper thin plastic washers in between the circuit board and screw holes to slightly increase the distance between the switches and the strumbar. You can either swipe them from other electronics that you have, or you can buy them online.
I have been having issues with my Wireless Xbox360 GH World Tour guitar over strumming and this video helped me fix it super easily
Epic tutorial bruh lets get them fcs boi all day every day guitar hero way!
I had to open my unit for the xbox 360 three times and readjust the tape but on the third time was the charm and it worked flawlessly! Thanks for the video!
I use double sided foam tape without removing the protective film. So it's basically just a foam tape. Works.great.
Thank you so much! I actually play guitars and i also love GH series. I was almost 1 year without playing due to my guitar doing overstrum and your method workerd after adding a second layer of tape! Nice work!
This tutorial helped me fix the strumming inconsistency on my x-plorer
Watched these back when they first came out. Recently been trying to get better with an actual fucking guitar instead of an Xbox One gamepad. My strumbar on my GH5 Wiitar just started overstrumming like hell. Looks like these are finally going to come in handy.
If you have a overstrum guitar just encourage it, lubricate the metal bar and remove the rubber pads, and the foam pad inside the strum bar
Thanks for the first part: My frets were so much easier to press and I got a small skill boost that improved my score on soulless 4 by 250k! Thanks again.
12:38 this guy is taping down tape with more tape lmao 😂
@UKOGMonkey, these guides are beautiful, and all of them about.. Les paul. So, if you had that problem, I think you should take a look to this thing and how to fix it. I'm taking about XBox360 backlash Les Paul problem - when some buttons is going dead cuz' of neck you can pull off. I have one, and there's a hardcore, when backlash kills me in the moment, where I need to use orange fret, but it is off! There's some cleaning, using paper or using the duct tape, and sometimes it really does not works at all.
Also I like to look how you can fix another issues, like the classic guitar controllers (SG, X-Plorer) or Guitar Hero WT/5 controllers (Genericaster). It will be interesting to everybody, and so useful.
Thanks for this video im going to try this with my overstrumming xplorer, i would appreciate if you made one putting new switches
Hey, I'm trying this on my Xplorer right now and I'm on my 4th layer of tape, but it still overstrums. Have you got yours working?
in the US, Warranty stickers are not legal to enforce. You can remove it and the warranty is still valid within the original manufacturer's dates.
Ive used this method for years and it works great forsure but I started using super thin insolation tape instead of duck tape a few years ago. Omg i highly recommend it if you're someone like me who lives in an apartment with paper thin walls. Its the best dude. Doesn't change the play feel of the strum bar, works magic for overstrumming, and I can play to my hearts content without waking anyone up. Fucking changed my life hahaha
One alternative method to stop overstrumming is to get really good at alt-strumming and never take your hand off the strum bar haha.
I've been using a rest stroke technique to avoid over strum. Takes some right hand precision but it seems to work well. Essentially I'm never letting go of the strum bar so it doesn't slap back and over strum.
But I've played guitar for 15 years so I'm not sure if that concept seems weird in the CH community.
Again, nice tattoos Ukog.
What if the guitar isn't strumming enough? What if it skips some strums when you're strumming? How would you go about fixing something like that?
Police yoshi scares me
Late comment but I had that happpen to my xplorere. I put the case together and pinched a cable between the screw poles and chopped the yellow frets wire off, but luckily it was an outside wire so I spliced taht wire with a copper whire I got from a scrap cord and it has been working ever since.
I have the opposite of the overstrum problem in one of my controllers. About 1 in every 5 down strums won't work in my World Tour controller
Those have crappy switches. Its probably defective
You can solder new switches with basic soldering skills. RUclips has tutorials
Yep, I have the same problem on a wt guitar I have. I could never really fix the issue. I probably could buy new switches, but I couldn’t get the original switches to work.
@@theherobrine6217 Yeah the only option is to solder new ones, still haven't fixed mine but I got a soldering kit now so all I need to get is some new switches
You are doing God's work my friend.
this was a major pain in the ass to do, but it was majorly worth it.

>cuts it with scissors
mario paint master of puppets is my favorite thing
Instructions unclear. There is now a hole in the wires from somehow screwing a hole in them
Then you haven't seen part 1.
When I use my wii guitar, the strum bar feels REALLY stiff. It reminds me of a Rockband guitar strumbar. Is there a way I can change the strumbar to something like the xplorer guitars?
Abliss Yes but it’s gonna be a lot harder to take apart because the neck is not detachable
This is as easy as fixing my wammy bar now that I just figured it out
Edit:wow thanks for the likes the most I have ever gotten😊🥳🤩
The whammy bar spring on my guitar broke so I had to replace it with a rubber band
1:31 I agree that is insane
I am keeping this video in mind. I have a GH3 Wii controller coming in the mail, and I don't want it to overstrum XD
Thanks for the video UKOG ! I'm going to try it today and hopefully I don't dun goof up
Just rounded 3 screws. Got them out but now I don’t trust myself so Imma just put it in with tape.
love these videos
Hello Sir, what if my Downward strim doesnt register but upwards only registers the strum, any idea why please, much appreciated.
That 8bit Master Of Puppets Pog
Had I known about this trick before rage braking my overstrumming guitar months ago...
My guitar is overstrumming downwards. Is my guitar ruined or can i fix it somehow?
Watch the video
ooh, is the music from the floppatron?
Also, such an easy fix for a very annoying controller problem. I wonder if that'll help with my xbox 360 controller that if I recall does/did a double up motion or something similar.
Fun fact: the warranty stickers are illegal in the US
One day, when açaí reaches nirvana, açaí will buy an abandoned factory, start working at neversoft when they make the next crappy reboot, and steal the WT and xplorer blueprints and molds. Then he quill start producing them with his left over 2 million dollars
why am i even watching this i don’t even play guitar/clone hero
You can use the keyboard to play Clone Hero.
Can you make a video on how to tune the guitar hero guitars?
My guitar controller doesn't register down strums anymore, any common fixes you know of? (Controller is 3rd party)
gonna admit that I did the tape thing in the laziest way possible. I precut it and used tweezers to kind of squeeze and press it into the right spot while holding the strum bar in the direction i needed it to be lifted up, without taking off the board at all. but that would be way too hard to show in a video.
thanks for tutorial🙏 btw i'm from indonesia & i love guitar hero🤟
Where can I find a replacement strum switch for my wired SG guitar controller for PlayStation 2?
so my problem is when i strum down AND HOLD IT DOWN it registers 1 strum, but when i let go of it, it registers another strum. thoughts?
One of you vids did and I thank you for the help
"I hope you guys make the ultimate guitar. I know I have!"
This didn't age well
How do you deal with the neck connectivity issues? I have two working Les Paul and from time to time I have problems with random dropped frets/notes because the neck connection partly breaks. Paper shims and rubber bands are stop gaps that work sometimes but it always comes back.
i have the same problem with my 360 guitar
I put blobs of solder on tge flat board
Two questions
1. How did you connect the Wii guitar
2. Why does it have a joystick
1. ruclips.net/video/kOmXBMtXqxI/видео.html
2. You can navigate the Wii menu only with the joystick. To select GH3 including
Thanks dude, I have a not so good PS2 guitar and it was doing terrible. The duck tape hack save me, tysm o/
Ukog, you can mod your switches to make them rake perfectly with one finger!
HOW?!?
@@vinyredx9220 Using this guide but do it in reversely www.instructables.com/id/Guitar-Hero-Controller-FIX-Extra-StrumFIX-SWITCH/
Hopefully I can get a reply to this, but do you ever have to replace the tape? Like does it get worn out over time?
Where would you get replacement switches?
www.keyboardco.com/product/matias-click-key-switch-modules-x-200.asp i got 200 from here
How about in the us? Amazon?
@@xXKASsNiPeSXx i believe ALPS switches are copies/evolutions of this design. You may be able to find some on Amazon, but you can for sure get them on KBDFans
theqrokz thank you
@@RubyRoks I can't find the switches individually anywhere, they're all in packs of 50 or 200 or whatever, I only need ONE where can I buy?
What if my guitar is stuck strumming down? Like the strum bar is in a neutral position but it will not stop down strumming
After this, will I’ll be able to de rake strum with two fingers? Or raking will be a no for the guitar?
UKOG, don't know if you'd read this considering how old the video is, but any chance you know how to modify the frame to move the select / start button to compliment lefty's? It's a pain having to shift my hand to hit the button rather than making it easier with using the thumb
i watched part 1 hoping to find a fix for frets registering as 2 separate colour presses but didn't find what i was looking for and i don't have a spare 20 minutes to watch this video, do you know how to fix that issue? i tried cleaning the contacts at the top of the neck and if fixed it for a bit but then went back to having the same issue.
have you ever had it that the strum bar can't rake strum or overstrum? and if so can you fix it? Because I have been using an Xplorer that can rake strum fine, but now im trying to use my old Wii Guitar and it just can't rake strum and I dont know why
Thanks for the video man.
It helped alot, tho even after 4 layers of tape my guitar still overstrums. I think i have to mess with the buttons.
Would completely removing the analog stick cause any issues other than a gaping hole where it used to be?
Will watch this later after work, but will this help with an xplorer guitar? The only issue my xplorer has is strumming down doesn’t register but strumming up does.
How do you make a guitar "rake perfectly?" Or is it something that just happens by chance?
I think its practice, and yeah
ITS REALLY HARD! at least for me
But modding a guitar to do that, i really don't know anything
George my strum bar doesnt feel weird as i dont rakestrum so hard as you xD
My guitar will only trim down no up strum.. will this fix that?
What if you have switches that need replacing? Where do you go about doing that? I have a world tour guitar that needs switch replacement
Do you need a tilt censor for clone hero?
hey, how did you mod the warriors of rock guitar to get it cable connected to the pc?
Get the newest version of Clone Hero, UKOG. It’s so much better.
the entire reason people use wii guitars is for the over strum tho
that looks exactly like the guitar in our classroom. And it has the almost exact same problem as the one in the video
what is the best guitar i can use on my ps2
Hey UKOG, have you ever dealt with controllers that don't sync to the dongle? Specifically the PS3 Les Paul controllers? If so, have you ever fixed this on your own? I recently tried to fix my second guitar with sync issues and may have ruined it. If you have ever ruined a controller like this, I wanted to know if there was a way to resurrect it.
Will this also fix a false strum problem? In the middle of trying to fix my girlfriends guitar which has the tendency of strumming without even touching it
Ukog can you do 1 for the xplorer?
what adapter are you using to hook up to CH?
I'm kinda new to the game and I wanna ask does any guitar from any console works on different consoles or it only works for the console that was made for?
I pretty sure mostly are NOT cross compatible :-\. A PS3 one works on clone hero, but will not work on a Xbox, and a Xbox one will not work on a PS3 👍
All i know is
All guitar are able to connect to clone hero, just with the right tools
But a wiitar working on ps3, impossible, and the same goes for xbox
Oh ok thx :3
On that ps2 guitar at 20:00 does the whammy work on clone hero because mine doesn’t
I have a world tour wii guitar and the analog stick is making is constantly down strum, what would i do with that? Also have a constant down stum explorer, any ideas how to fix them?
Is there a way to tell if its still overstrumming without putting the whole thing back together?
So I just bought a wired guitar and there seems to be a delay when I’m playing. Any ideas on how to fix that? I haven’t seen any videos about that
But what about rake strumming?
Thanks Bro. I'm Doing this right now.
Is electric tape any good?
What headset do you use bro?
Where can you get the custom faceplates and buttons?
My guitar is registering two strums when I stein upwards only. Would this help that?
Yep, it would
Im thinking those extra 4 screws are what make the wii neck connection so solid.
Ha, Good one.
2 things, how do you get the wii guitar to work on pc and could you do the same fix with electric tape?
www.raphnet-tech.com/products/wusbmote_1player_adapter_v2/index.php also any tape would work tbh
