It's funny. It's just a tv show and obviously the character isn't real, but something about her death was different than any death I've seen on tv. I cried watching the final scene, not gonna lie. It was like losing a family member.
The final scene of oitnb was perfection. The revolt scene, Daya with the gun, Poussey's smile at the end. I'm speechless! Can't believe we have to wait another YEAR :0
There's a book the show is based on.It was written by Piper Kerman(which becomes Chapman in the series). It's based on her memories of that year in prison though the series goes much further than what's told in there.
Poussey was my favorite. I seriously am grieving. This song at the end especially hit me hard. Then her smile at the end ...man even though it's just a show my tears are real.
She was my favorite too... nobody disliked her (not the fans nor the other prisoners). And even though it is "only a serie", it still hurts. I literally cried while watching her death and the last episode....
Yea, I'm still so emotional over it! like I can't listen to this song without remembering her and trying to hold the tears back. Damn like why. one time I get attached to a character...she dies
+Trance Nick lmao it's true, I'm not Mexican and I was born in the US so that term does not apply to me whatsoever. even if it did, they better take that shit somewhere else
Oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh We are kneeling at the river's edge and tempting All the steps to follow closer right behind Is it only when you feel a part is empty That it’s gnawing at the corners of your mind I will ask you for mercy I will come to you blind What you’ll see is the worst me Not the last of my kind Ooh In the muddy water we’re falling Ooh In the muddy water we’re crawling Holds me down Hold me now Sold me out In the muddy waters we’re falling It is not clear why we choose the fire pathway Where we end is not the way that we had planned All the spirits gather 'round like it's our last day To get across you know we’ll have to raise the sand Ooh, I will ask you for mercy I will come to you blind What you’ll see is the worst me I'm not the last of my kind Ooh In the muddy water we’re falling Ooh In the muddy water we’re crawling Holds me down Hold me now Sold me out In the muddy waters we’re falling Ooh Don’t fail me now Put your arms around me and pull me out Ooh I know I’m found With your arms around me, oh save me now Ooh Oh, oh Ooh, in the muddy water we’re falling Ooh In the muddy water we’re crawling Holds me down Hold me now Sold me out In the muddy water we’re falling
Heart wrenching season. The finale scenes were the BEST on TV yet- from Dayanara to Poussey's smile, the slow mo, the camera panning, this music.... everything was perfection. RIP Poussey 😭 😭 😭
Orange is the new black was so good! I love riot scenes so seeing everyone marching down the halls weapons in hand was awesome, and poussey just smiling into the camera at the end got me all emotional. She was so good and she just died out of nowhere.
I KNEW someone was going to die this season, with all the tension that was built up in the last few episodes of the third season. They're just starting to take us into the Twilight Zone with this one, next season's gonna be wild.
kelidocope colors That's what I refer to as the "Gatsby stare," the stare that was described as being the most hopeful human you could ever meet, like, "hey, life is full of wonder and magic and beauty and I want to find all of it." And then you think about how she dies in prison and it makes you so much sadder.
+Lilly Prince but why should there be people who didn't see the last episode yet if the song just shows up at the ending of the last episode? it doesn't make any sense. 😂
I work out to this song now. I know it's just a show, but shit like this happens in real life all the time and the people not affected by it just turn a blind eye, so I use this song as a reminder. I'm sick of good people being taken from us needlessly, so I use this song to get stronger inside and out to put an end to the injustices that happen across my path. I use this song to fight.
the message is not to step up and fight nessecarily, the message of the season was, that there are two sides all the time. The message of OitnB ever was that there is a reason behind it, a background story that shows why it all ended up how it is. And thats the same for real life aswell. When you see someone fucked up, when you see someone (apparently) crazy, someone acting weird or in whatever way you dont understand. Remember that theres a backstory, a story that formed that person and lead to his/her actions and situation. No matter whether that person is a prisoner, a guard or someone else. People get their identity with their experience they make. So again, when you step up to fight, remember that theres a story behind every person out there. And that you might hurt someone who in reality is a victim and not an offender.
I cry when I listen to this. Poussey's death was BIGGEST twist in OITNB. I cry Every. Single. Time R.I.P Poussey Washington P.S I know I'm pretty late for this season.
i would have cried more im sure if i wasent curious and looked thru comments and found out she died from them sob, BUT I STILL CRIED SO MUCH i found out she died when i looked up the ''humming bird'' song
Definitely the best season to date. each episode had me wanting more, and the final episode didn't help that. The way they went about this season was alot darker than the others, in a good way. RIP Poussey Shame we have to wait a whole year for this. Lets hope they deliver the same in season 5.
I replayed the last 10 min over and over because I could hardly believe it. and when the song came on, it just added to the suspense and with Daya of all people becoming gangsta like that was like oh shit bout to go down. I almost forgot about her rage towards the C.Os cus of her ex. that last scene with Poussey smiling got to me
SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME I ended up crying, and I was like "Wth nooooooooo" best show ever! I met pipers actor before she went on the show. I was like 12 I think! XD
My sister introduced me recently to LP, and honestly I'm surprised at how good their songs are. I thank my sister for enlightening me to this masterpiece.
Rest in peace Poussey, never forget you. The caracter the most adorable that I've never seen and with this music it's so powerful, I understand better the situation. Good choice of song
(OITNB) What got the most is that of all people to pick up the gun, I didn't expect her to do it. I kind of forgot about her because of everyone else. That was incredible.
Holy shit I cried so much this season, when chapman was getting branded (even though she deserved it) and when Poussey died holy shit, this season does not compare to the others
This song gives me a grief but beautiful emotions. Every life is important. P's dreams were shine. I believe that she makes her dream somewhere. I remember her smile and I will fight against every irrationalities. Revolution! Fight Together!
finished it yesterday morning at 9:30 am. I started the show at 8:00 pm, after watching two or three episodes, I kept saying, "one more and then bed", got all the way to the final episode and couldn't stop. Those 13 episodes were an emotional roller coaster from start to finish.
it's 3 AM and I just finished watching OINTB s4. the last scene and this song put me on deeeep thoughts , I'm gonna listen this song on repeat this entire night
I can see Poussey's death symbolizing Eric Garner, Mike Brown, & Sandra Bland. Eric Garner (her trying to say she can't breath, CO not hearing her cries), Mike Brown (body being left out for hours with almost no one caring or taking the initiative), Sandra Bland (her "accidental" death in police custody). Plus it was also for shock value & because Jenji got a lock of flack last season for making the show "too gentle", that's why this season was darker and sadder, & who else to kill but the most popular character? Most popular shows are too pussy to kill off major popular characters (The Walking Dead for example) so I respect OITNB for being bold. R.I.P Poussey.
Fuck outta here with that Sandra Bland Mike Brown bullshit. Eric Garner was the only one who you can make an argument for, but even then, he was still resisting and was accidentally killed. Never bring Mike Brown up in a conversation of "police brutality" or corruption if you want to be taken seriously. That piece of shit got what he deserved, and Sandra Bland killed herself.
For all of you who are here because of Orange, Laura Pergolizzi has been in the music industry for years writing for superstars, and releasing amazing music. Glad she finally got her dues!
We get it you're cool! I live in Brooklyn too! Please be my friend and share your top secret knowledge of independant musicians with me!!pleaaaaaaSe!!!?!?
They need to come out with like 3 seasons at a time. I can't just wait here for ANOTHER YEAR and not know what's gonna happen with Daya and Poussey's family!
OITNB went to a whole other place this season. From such a happy hope filled ending last season to this absolute raw fucking emotion throughout this one with an ending that was on fire. I hope Soso makes it out.
I hope so, but she was in the verge of suicide last season and only P could help her. I predict they're going to send her character through some dark areas.
Man season 4 was so intense, so emotional, and so many turns and twists! I love this show! But I'm really sad about Poussey she was an amazing character and will be very missed! RIP
I love how I'm here the day after S4 premieres and we're already done with the season and looking up this song to despair in the comments. So much can happen. If they've fucked us over with this season, next season will be the tsunami after this storm.
My GOD you are so right. I just finished the season thirty minutes ago and I am RIFE with grief. I looked up this song for the sole purpose of making myself feel better by reading youtube comments. ;_;
Damn. Season 4 was very emotional for oitnb fans . Gave me the chills from beginning till end . Definitely will be on my tip toes for the next season .
as a dancer I say that this is THE best song to improve to. everytime i hear this song it makes me want to get up and just express myself through my movement. just the lyrics and the beat omggggg it's just unbelievably amazing. outstanding job!!!!
We are kneeling at the rivers edge and tempting All the steps to follow closer right behind Is it only when you feel a part is empty That it’s gnawing at the corners of your mind I will ask you for mercy I will come to you blind What you’ll see is the worst me Not the last of my kind In the muddy water we’re falling In the muddy water we’re crawling Holds me down Hold me now Sold me out In the muddy waters we’re falling It is not clear why we choose the fire pathway Where we end is not the way that we had planned All the spirits gather 'round like its our last day To get across you know we’ll have to raise the sand Oooh, I will ask you for mercy I will come to you blind What you’ll see is the worst me I'm not the last of my kind In the muddy water we’re falling In the muddy water we’re crawling Holds me down Hold me now Sold me out In the muddy waters we’re falling
After reading "The Song of the Mud," by Mary Borden, this song almost feels like a nod to that poem. There's the obvious connection about the mud in both pieces, but also the battle beat matches the poem's mentioning of soldiers, and each one pays tribute to the fallen. Maybe I'm reaching, but to me the two pieces complement each other.
Poussey's death was so sad, but so symbolic. It symbolizes so many deaths that have happened from police hands, even if they were innocent. And in the end, the police were labeled as the victims of the situation with no punishment for their own crime. Poussey was my favourite character hands down and it was really hard for episode 13 to see her smile
Poussey looks inside my soul in that last scene.
I know, I didn't expect that 😭
Now only next June we find out if Draya is about that life or not
sad she died like that all I know is season 5 gonna be lit
I was crying for an hour straight😭
My heart on that scene 💔
I cried like fuck, man. I'm gonna miss Poussey.
poussey's smile at the end, i can't stop crying
Omg I just finished it and I've been crying for almost an hour
Same...she was my favorite
ya'll help i've been crying all morning.... HOW THE HELL CAN A SHOW MAKE ME PHYSICALLY GRIEVE LIKE THIS
+Egg Mcmuffin I feel your pain...I never been so attached to a character before. It took me almost to days to stop crying.
OMG cant believe it's over with her .and one whole Year to wait to See what Diaz does ..

I'm obsessed with the end 😍
What a badass fucking song to use for that final scene (and the last image of Poussey). God man it has deeply resonated with me.
everytime I close my eyes I see her smile...and I want to cry..
+Elijah Sixx same I never thought I could be emotionally impacted by a show and when ever I see any of her 3 friends cry I cry

It's funny. It's just a tv show and obviously the character isn't real, but something about her death was different than any death I've seen on tv. I cried watching the final scene, not gonna lie. It was like losing a family member.

"Muddy Waters" is without a doubt one of greatest, best songs by LP, the most heart-piercing, touching, powerful song, thank you LP very very much
I'm agree❤
if you didn't cry when poussey smiled at the end, you don't have a soul.
I didnt cry at that part.... I cried when tastee started crying next to poussey's body though 😢😢
i don't have a soul then. Not everyone is as sensitive as a flower petal
THAT finale. all the inmates banding together. so fucking epic!! Can not fucking wait for season 5!! definitely the best season to date
They really raised the bar this season, risked a lot with their audience and still fucking won. Loved it. So incredible.
lol yessss
Fucking epic.
ikr!
sit yo ass down and wait for one fucking year then scrub
Since I saw the oitnb season 4 finale, this song will always gives me shivers and think of poussey smiling at the end :((
Yeah...
Yup...
holy hell thats the exact same things that happens for me haha
Karen Trejo damn your on his ass😂😂
+Trance Nick lmao it's true, I'm not Mexican and I was born in the US so that term does not apply to me whatsoever. even if it did, they better take that shit somewhere else
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
We are kneeling at the river's edge and tempting
All the steps to follow closer right behind
Is it only when you feel a part is empty
That it’s gnawing at the corners of your mind
I will ask you for mercy
I will come to you blind
What you’ll see is the worst me
Not the last of my kind
Ooh
In the muddy water we’re falling
Ooh
In the muddy water we’re crawling
Holds me down
Hold me now
Sold me out
In the muddy waters we’re falling
It is not clear why we choose the fire pathway
Where we end is not the way that we had planned
All the spirits gather 'round like it's our last day
To get across you know we’ll have to raise the sand
Ooh, I will ask you for mercy
I will come to you blind
What you’ll see is the worst me
I'm not the last of my kind
Ooh
In the muddy water we’re falling
Ooh
In the muddy water we’re crawling
Holds me down
Hold me now
Sold me out
In the muddy waters we’re falling
Ooh
Don’t fail me now
Put your arms around me and pull me out
Ooh
I know I’m found
With your arms around me, oh save me now
Ooh
Oh, oh
Ooh, in the muddy water we’re falling
Ooh
In the muddy water we’re crawling
Holds me down
Hold me now
Sold me out
In the muddy water we’re falling
Thank you so much!
i hope both sides of your pillow are cold
You're the best 👌🏼
❤
Heart wrenching season. The finale scenes were the BEST on TV yet- from Dayanara to Poussey's smile, the slow mo, the camera panning, this music.... everything was perfection. RIP Poussey 😭 😭 😭
I agree
now we have to wait another year
I agree, it's not something I usually notice but the camera work was intense.
until there i'll watch more 20 times this season
EXACTLY! It gave chills
Orange is the new black was so good! I love riot scenes so seeing everyone marching down the halls weapons in hand was awesome, and poussey just smiling into the camera at the end got me all emotional. She was so good and she just died out of nowhere.

when she was standing there and looking at the camera that killed me. so intense. best scene.

Most popular shows are too pussy to kill off major popular characters (The Walking Dead for example) so I respect OITNB for being bold. R.I.P Poussey.
yes and it makes even more impact....alllivesmatter
Couldn't be more right.
I agree! This was hands down the best season!
+cassie andrade yes! A definite upgrade from last season. The actresses are incredible, especially the woman who plays Lolly.
Heard this tune in POWER. 1 of the deepest tunes I have heard in a longtime. I can FEEL and relate to this in my life now. I will NEVER forget it.
Same just rn for me
Me too it touch Me as well it deep as hell
Same here soon as I hurd it I was hooked
I remember pausing that scene and going straight to the internet to find the song as soon as I heard it. It's so emotive
Yh 😂😂same
the show POWER is how i discovered this song & its a great song i stay jamming to it and it does deserve a grammy for sure!
That very last scene hit me hard man....
For all of you who are here because of Orange, Laura Pergolizzi has been in the music industry for years writing for superstars, and releasing amazing music. Glad she finally got her dues!
I love how Jenji specifically plays music from underrated artists.
Masterpiece... and her voice, actually the best female voice in the history.
Yes, I fully agree with you! This song is absolute masterpiece! And LP's voice is one of the best female voices in the history! ❤❤❤
It's so awesome how the show pulls out your emotions and makes you feel for the inmates. Love OITNB, but RIP Poussey Washington 😥
You're so right. Now I'm even more worried!
***** that went dark real quick, but i completely understand.
Man season 4 was so intense, so emotional, and so many turns and twists! I love this show! But I'm really sad about Poussey she was an amazing character and will be very missed! RIP
Season 4 fucked me up man
If Heaven is walking around a city at night making friends and seeing beautiful lights, then I'm cool with that.
man remember when the biggest issue in this damn show was the love trianlge between Larry, Piper, and Alex?
Queen of the south 😢😭😍😍😍
Haven't cried this much for a tv show in ages. Fucking writers
Same here...
+Noa's Destiny the last 7-10 minutes gave me CHILLS

Ya! I can't wait another year. Are there any other tv shows where they make you get so attached to the characters in the best way??

+Lauren Sabino I'm paying attention :)
I love
+Lauren Sabino Inb4 Lauren Sabino
Enjoy it for yourself :) Music is personal. (It's ok to enjoy music without quantifying the artists's audience) But it's impresssive nonetheless
I love how I'm here the day after S4 premieres and we're already done with the season and looking up this song to despair in the comments. So much can happen. If they've fucked us over with this season, next season will be the tsunami after this storm.
My GOD you are so right. I just finished the season thirty minutes ago and I am RIFE with grief. I looked up this song for the sole purpose of making myself feel better by reading youtube comments. ;_;
tsunamis happen after earthquakes tho
Who’s here because they’re a fan of LP and they’ve loved this song for years and didn’t even know it was on any of these shows?
YES!!!❤
“Queen of the South” & “Power” brought me here. I’m catching up on my shows and I hear this song at the end of the latest episodes.
Dope song 💯🙌🏽
This season put me in my feels I'm real life sad 💔 can't wait another year

Orange Is The New Black 🔥💪🏻
The last 5 mins of OITNB gave me life! Can 2017 hurry up and get here already?!
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK BROUGHT ME!!
HOW I MISS P!!!!!
Spotify says this is my most listened to song of 2016. Fitting.
Thanks LP ❤
Damn. Season 4 was very emotional for oitnb fans . Gave me the chills from beginning till end . Definitely will be on my tip toes for the next season .
What's episode is this song on?
Add Queen of the South to the list of bangers that used this riveting song as their outro along with Power, OITB, and any other good show out there.
Heard it on an episode of "Queen of the South". Great to hear it.
Yeah, just SO good.
the end of season 4 was so dark. I love it.
I cried all episode 13. That was like almost 2hrs. Then at the end when Poussey stared at my soul i lost my shit😟😫😭🔨
Same! I legit cried for like 24 hours after that episode
2016 has just been a hard year. We lost Prince, Muhammad Ali, Christina Grimme, and now Poussey....wtf 2016
RIGHT! Might as well just stop watching orange is the new black.

Just finished Power.... Heard this and immediatly searched... I needed this song in my life
Tiffany Van you and i both
Repeat!
riigghhtttt
Tiffany Van..
I did the exact same thing.
Binge watching
We are kneeling at the rivers edge and tempting
All the steps to follow closer right behind
Is it only when you feel a part is empty
That it’s gnawing at the corners of your mind
I will ask you for mercy
I will come to you blind
What you’ll see is the worst me
Not the last of my kind
In the muddy water we’re falling
In the muddy water we’re crawling
Holds me down
Hold me now
Sold me out
In the muddy waters we’re falling
It is not clear why we choose the fire pathway
Where we end is not the way that we had planned
All the spirits gather 'round like its our last day
To get across you know we’ll have to raise the sand
Oooh, I will ask you for mercy
I will come to you blind
What you’ll see is the worst me
I'm not the last of my kind
In the muddy water we’re falling
In the muddy water we’re crawling
Holds me down
Hold me now
Sold me out
In the muddy waters we’re falling
gissele hernandez thanks so much!!
gissele hernandez ❤️
gissele hernandez you the real MVP 🙌
Agree.
