Short write up of the only mechanics you need to deal with.
Dabog: Open then dodge left/right slash. Stand in tower, tower will knock you a short distance radially from the center of the tower. Point yourself into an open spot of 3 cleaves, boss will do a short knockback, instant cleave will follow with safe spots in the center of previous cleave zones.
Nothing happens until circle aoes appear on the ground, boss will push you a long way (stand on his hitbox in the safe spot of cleaves, don't be scared of the circle aoes) dodge the instant cleave the same way as first set.
Menenius: Open, after his first castbar finishes pop light curtain to reflect bits. When two mines spawn, walk over the blue one, never walk over the red one again. Giga tempest will do a raidwide then spawn a travelling line aoe across the room with 1 safe lane through it. Just stand in the safe zone.
He'll load either windslicer or dark shot, then shoot it with gunberd. Wind = knockback dark = be far away from him.
Lyon: Open, as soon as your opener is finished (scorch) swap flare star for dispel and dispel the buff given by Harness Fire. He'll summon a clone then jump across the room from it, just stand behind the clone (opposite Lyon) and keep hitting him at range. The exaflare ballast movement can be tricky, you could just pop another excellence and invuln cheese it though I think but he should be dead by now.

I did both of the duels today as a redmage. After failing countless times, I noticed that you definitely can't just flare star and run around hoping that the boss dies. You have to pump as much damage as possible and both bosses just barely died once the flare star debuff ended. Had 10 valor stacks and no other players helping me.

You can get the 1v1 field notes from other fights, for instance both of lyons can be obtained in castrum and dal respectively
@@joshharper9487 True, but the RNG on those notes can be... Troublesome. Personally, I got the "clear CLL 50 times achievement" before I ever saw the final boss chest drop Lyon's field notes, and by then I had long cleared the duel and got them that way XD
@@joshharper9487 I did this exactly because I did more than 20 or so runs on Castrum in the last week and I didn't get the noite, the RNG is not good for most of the people so this was way easier than running that damm thing again
Same going for Lyon's note on Dalriada and Dalbog fate too
Hope you don't mind a question on the Southern Front Lyon fight, but did you end up needing to Dispel? And if so, when did you use it in the rotation?
Keep in mind that the game has a Cap on Benefitial Buffs you can have so you generally want to avoid any defensive Buffs for a "Just buff the hell out of flarestar" attempt as it might interfere with more powerful buffs like FoM or Banner making Flarestar hit like a wet noodle in comparisson just because you capped with a Lost Shell that does nothing for you.
How many beneficial buffs can you pop safely?

i tried this with 6 stacks of vendor and did exactly the same rotation but only made it to 20% when flarestar ended. Is high stack required?
for Menenius he also had lost dervish, lost bravery, Dance partner. Devilment dropped off b4 Flarestar though

Got all 3 clears now and farming them on instances to give everyone mettle bonuses :) feels greattttt thanks Sfia .
Would you suggest doing it solely as RDM or do you think BLM/SMN could do it too?
Update: I have tried as SMN and almost won because I popped Dispel too late :s
When you take damage, the floating text has the target's name next to it to show the source of that damage. How did you get that? ACT plugin?
Tried this with Lyon (Zadnor) and he still had like 35% hp by the time flare star finished :S It was a similar deal in Bozja, but I knew mechanics well enough to get him the rest of the way down there normally.

I'm certain that I got flare star cast before any buffs fell off, but I guess I'm just gonna need 10 valor (at 6 currently), and try to get as many party buffs as I can just before I load in to dial it up even higher...
He also had Lost Dervish, Bravery, Dance Partner (for Standard Finish) and Devilment. So you really just need the party buffs.
Could it be that extra buffs (Bravery, Dervish, Step) are mandatory?
I keep dropping Zadnor Lyon to 10% only to get oneshotted by Heart of Nature.
I have the same damage issue, but it’s duel or die killing you, not heart.

PS4 player here... I beat Lyon using this method, took me three tries to get it right. Most stressful shit I've ever done in regards to these duels x_x I'm gonna do the other two duels legit if I can; only reason I cheesed Lyon was because his was the very last Field Notes I needed for the bike lol.
I’ve done 2/3 on controller on ps5 - people that play controller long enough have muscle memory of how many times to hit the HUD toggle button to get to different windows - just takes practice
@@alchalant4663 I play with controller. That's why I made my first comment. I've never managed to get to what I want on the ui with any accuracy. It's why I made a macro for level syncing fates. I wonder if there is a comand to open the lost action holster
I dont play on controller anymore, but u can cheese that too. just put your whole rotation from right to left (or left to right) and then swich ur horbar set on click. basically you can put 8(?) hotbars worth of moves and youll just spam them in order without too much thought
Is it recommended to have the 8th level damage buff like yourself?
what is that line on ur bar? i assume its to make sure that u can time ur slide casting correctly(?) if so where did you get it?

I don't know if it got nerfed, but 9 valor with same buffs (including bravery, pot, food) from video won't kill Lyon before exoflare or even the flaming balls.
I had trouble with Lyon also; since direct hits/crits can impact the flare star DoT this can make a big difference. I decided to avoid dealing with this mechanic I could modify the cheese. I use bravery, int pot, food, and bubble/protect in my pre-pop as well as make sure to have potion kit and ether kit on. I use banner of noble sacrifice instead of noble ends for the extra 5% (I also have all 10:10:10 rays) but, if you have an extra potion kit then the hp loss from sacrifice shouldn’t pose a problem. I also used an additional chainspell after dispel and just mashed spells. I missed embolden and manafication but, without dancer buffs he died right before heart of nature and exaflares went off.
Hoping this still works and hasn't been patched out.
Got Menenius down to 23% with flarestar, lost to autowalk...how you got him down before that I have no idea lmao
If you look at buffs, they had dancer pre-buff for Menenius. Standard step and lost dervish about 20s when you are about to start excellence adds a huge bonus to the DoT with the increased crit. If you don’t have someone who can dnc buff for you, you can use banner of sacrifice, bubble and protect, have an extra potion kit on hand and maybe another chainspell to stack on after you hit the flarestar combo and deal with relfect or dispel if taking on Lyon
Wouldn't SMN be better? Using Tri-disaster immediately after Flare Star, then bursting with Phoenix.
Summoner is better but use the dots seperately and not tridisaster as it's considered not a spell

Seriously? at 75% your cast bar you can move. that's all you need.

Can we get one of Lyon? I did one earlier and it only got him to like 20% with 10 stacks of valor so I think something may have fallen off?

I know Tank (or rather Warrior because you'd be griefing otherwise :')) is stacking Blood Rage to 3 on a dummy, then pop it as soon as you zone in.

@@kousukekun2059 this is legit cheating in my opinion same like the plugin that tells you from what you take dmg (like 7067 from lyon the beast king) and the thing with the colours that tells you from what type of dmg it is red for physical and blue for magic dmg and i hope ppl get punished for using this.
@@Rigele100 you can already see which attacks are magical or physical by searching up the boss on a wiki, this just makes it more convenient
@@Rigele100 what about this is cheating? it doesn't give anyone an unfair advantage. you can already see what you take damage from. the information on if damage if phys, magic, or dark is available online to anyone. knowing it also doesn't unfairly advantage anyone. and you can slidecast without the plugin to show you when. anyone who's been playing a caster for even a little time will be able to do it, at most the plugin can help you practice. but again, it doesn't unfairly advantage anyone. quality of life changes are hardly cheating.
Slidecasting has been a thing forever because it's become basically a core mechanic at this point, the plugin simply makes it easier...
So i tried this today, popped everything as it said to, zoned it and before i even got flare star off i was dead.... Did the patch kill this?
did you use honored sacrifice banner? it drains your hp to use, patch didn't touch this setup at all.
@@SfiaPirion Banner of noble ends like the video said to. I popped excellence at 15s and chainspell at 10s, zoned in around 5s, used banner, manafication, font of magic, and then was dead. Probably less than 10 seconds into the duel?

Mostly the DMG buff counts.
The only thing you need is damage buff. The whole point is you have to land on the first flare star VERY high damage for the dot. Without the buff stack you can still beat it just takes a bit longer time. Knowing mech is still important.

Would this work at all with ranged DPS? What lost actions would you swap out?
atm seem to be only red mage is best capable of doing this if not you would end up doing the entire fight anyway, other option is smn but red mage is so much better due to the burst it has in the buff window which is critical for this strategy
I have yet to do this fight.
Should probably add Protect II, Shell II, Bubble and Bravery to that prepull set. I wish I had some friends willing to dance partner me and pop impetus as well lol.
those actually started creating problems lol, shell isn't needed, protect and bubble are nice but depending on your level of cheese you can actually get too many buffs on yourself and yours start missing
can you swap out ordained for skirmisher after popping chainspell?
You can but it isn't really necessary, all you're gaining is crit chance at that point and the boss oughta be dead by then. If you don't have all the proofs and party/banner buffs you can bring a beast essence instead and finish him off slowly from there. The initial buffed flare star + full RDM meter is the most important part of the plan.
how do you even get these fights?
There are certain critical engagements that have a condition where if you get through the fight without being hit by any avoidable damage. You get pooled to participate in the duel.
Does this work with regular Essence or does it have to be the Deep Essence?
This works with regular Ordained. Deep Ordained is just more damage.
Out of curiousity, where can you farm up lots of Lost Excellences? Flares you can buy with Clusters but not the other sadly.

Actually yes you can. Flare star is for lack of better word the star of the entire set up. You won't kill him as fast as RDM but the dot damage with thunder on top makes it still very strong. Under 3 at the very least
@@MegamanCraft It's not an additional boost, it changes the boost from +45% to +100%, a +55% increase. However, that's +55% dmg that BLMs can't get.
You can't Flare Star under Chainspell if you're not using ordained because the mp cost is increased above 10000 mp. You can still do it with other buffs (excellence, banner, font even tho I wouldn't recommend the last one because it screws a bit your af) but don't expect it to die this fast with blm, you'll have to do some of the mechanics.

It shouldn't. In one instance you are letting someone pilot your account and you do nothing. In this case you have either had to do a bunch of research to figure all of this stuff out and how to make it work together or you watch a video and try to replicate it to the best of your ability. If anything this is just practicing speedrun tech for a savage fight.

late response but no, you cant use chainspell into flare star on black mage since it makes the mp cost like 11k without essence of ordained. blms cant use ordained.
