The number of times where I've said to myself, "Aim at the tree. You're not good enough to hit a 6-inch target." Well, when it creates a double bogey, Yes, I am.
These are genuinely the best practice round videos out there, and some of my favorite videos you put out. I love how you break down each hole and allower the viewer to get insight into your thought process when playing a course. The comfortable banter between the two of you makes for an even more enjoyable watch. I appreciate you two for doing these!
Just want to say that it's awesome to see your health improve. I have a similar build to you in height and body comp - I had ballooned up to 330 lbs due to my mentals and now I am at 260. It's nice to get needed /extra motivation to see you drop down to my goal weight from what I currently weigh now. Love the content and keep staying healthy! Thanks!
@@seanstreck3226 Really happy to hear that both of you guys are pushing yourselves and making great progress. Just wanted to chime in with one thing and say that bmi is an outdated scale that is essentially useless and not something you should really pay attention to. Especially for those who lift weights regularly and have a relatively moderate muscle mass it will be incredibly innacurate in predicting whether or not you are actually overweight! Good luck with your weight loss and health journey and keep pushing for improvement!
Brodie, a couple years ago, ON THIS SAME COURSE, you were being taught how to play disc golf by Paul McBeth, one of the greatest disc golfers of all time. You asked him this exact same question about aiming at the tree and “hope to miss it”. Paul shut that way of thinking down. He told you, you can aim at the tree knowing the disc will flip and miss the tree or fade before the tree, but you never throw a shot and “hope” to miss your line.
Last hole I'm standing towards the right of the pad in the dirt. My steps will be towards the left front corner of the pad. I'll throw a low slight anhyzer forehand towards the trees on left with hopes of it fading out right. The key 2 throwing in the woods is finding the right location on the pad 2 release from so you open the gap up more.
Hole 10 (MPO hole 4) is tricky but probably one of my favorite holes. I've had the most success with a forehand turnover with a zone off the tee. That little more foreword progress gives you a better angle to the basket. Keep up the great work with the practice rounds and good luck this week!
I thought I was the only one that had the "Venom Venom" song running through my brain everytime I heard the disc name. Thanks Brodie for always being relatable.
Just watched a Short of you throwing a frisbee off of a tall bridge to the "How Ridiculous"-guys down below in a speeding boat. One of them caught it by jumping into the drink! Was a few years ago now but dang, that was a good throw! A sign of things to come I guess!
For healing that cracked finger, I'd suggest picking up a nice comfrey/calendula based beeswax/oil healing salve. As a farmer, my homemade stuff has saved my dry and cracked hands for years now. Much better than anything else I've tried. Comfrey is magical.
Loving the camerawork and the coursework! It never gets stale to see how pros like you attack a course! For that one big tree on the last hole though, could it be an idea to aim for the two trees behind the gap? Could be an easier mark than just aiming to the right of the big tree
Brodie, I feel like we have been on the same weight loss journey. same time. same weight. we are similar builds though I'm a bit more husky then you are. Awesome job brother. Seriously so good to see.
i'll be honest... this course is basically something you go into just knowing where the OB's are, knowing the shape of the holes and you just plain ol play. overthinking here is what, IMO, gets you into those bad situations. you know what your discs do. grab it and just play. best of luck guys!!
On gaps that tough, I think it's okay to aim for the tree. Generally though, it's not the best idea because you create a lose-lose whether you hit it or miss it.
Camera work and content is on point. Looking forward to the wind on Sunday. Hole 9 looks like an Athena but might not be stable enough for you bombers.
This video is making me excited to play this course next week for the first time before going to Austin to watch the Open! Let's get a Get Freaky Zone OS in the works!
I want to see Brodie on the podium so bad this weekend or sometime soon man I get stressed watching because I know he’s trying hit golf just be kicking your butt some days
Always like these practice rounds. Means I can watch coverage later without audio while cooking or something. Brodie; Can you do a video on how you figured out it was an alignment issue and what you meant with that? I have days when I consistently chuck things 10-15 degrees to one side and I'd love to know how to fix it.
LOL at the Zone OS. My normal Get Freaky Cryzstal Zone is already like my most overstable putter / mid by far... and Ezzy I hope your finger heals up before the tourney starts!
Zone OS is one of those discs you think you'll like but you'll never ever find yourself in a situation that calls for it. I couldn't fathom needing a more overstable zone but I also don't have 190mph arm speed so my perception of such things is gonna be different.
I thought that about the tilt, bought 2 anyway. 1 to keep and 1 to test out. It’s been in my bag forever now because it’s a game changer in the wind. I’m gonna get one of these because I LOVE the zone but I’m in Oklahoma and sometimes you’re throwing into 20-30mph headwind and my zones just will not fade. Same reason I have a cap rap and a regular raptor in my bag, wind. It’s crazy here.
Aiming - Tree or Gap? I aim for an imaginary target wherever on the gap I'm aiming to hit. I split the gap into 9 equal blocks for more precise aiming, but one should always consider what angle they want their disc to be at when they hit the imaginary target...
I unironically prefer the filming more on these practice rounds than tradition disc golf coverage. Being able to see the shot from behind from start to finish. Jomez should learn that the catch cam should only be put to use if the disc cuts a corner.
Really like your practice rounds more than other channels. You guys actually go over real strategy and disc selection....other channels turned into a a comedy/meme fest with the course almost an afterthought.
Great stuff as always! I have a request though, I want to see which discs landed where a bit more often. You throw so many off the tee (which is great) that it makes it hard to know which one you’re playing from once you get up to the basket. Just so we have more context as to which drive you’re actually putting and which ones were no good 😅
To add to the "aim-at-the-tree discussion", training pilots you don't tell them "don't hit the mountain, because then our brain will focus on that and the body will follow and boom goes the plane (in the simulation) or BOINK the disc in the tree. The gap is most often larger than the tree anyway so the best target BUT a focusing point for the eye is important, so pick a tree far beyond in the center of the gap perhaps? Just my five cents.
Said it before and I'll say it again, watching your practice rounds is better than coverage or any other RUclipsrs. I can't wait till these practice rounds drop every tournament.
I'm a Wisconsin native but I played this course on vacation last year in the summer. I about died of heat stroke and I'm pretty sure I took a +900 in the wood section.
Brodie-Dude-It looks like you’re ready to play some Ulti again-if only 😀…. Seriously, I hope your knee cooperates this season and you can get that W. You are definitely making the right moves 😎 Good Luck this season!

I need Brodie to stand beside my fridge and yell at me like he does Ezra when he picks the wrong disc to throw so I don't eat late at night when I'm bored.
Coming from a landscaper I’m so proud Brodie knew the grass was dormant and not dead 😂
The aim-at-the-tree discussion was super relatable. “It’s like…Wow, I was actually good but just stupid.”
The number of times where I've said to myself, "Aim at the tree. You're not good enough to hit a 6-inch target." Well, when it creates a double bogey, Yes, I am.
The only time I do that is if I'm throwing something flippy enough to where I know it will turn before it gets to the tree

I always aim at the inside or outside edge of the tree, find it a lot easier to make sure to barely miss off the edge I'm aiming for
Very happy with your attitude and production Brodie. You came along way and put the work in.
I agree
Yeeeeeeeess!! The practice rounds are back with Ezra and Brodie smith!!!! Yeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhh!!!

ezra, congrats on Vegas. Your not too far off yourself Brodie. Love to see you both top 5
I really liked the parts where y’all were just feeling each others shirts, quality content right there lol
Was not expecting such big changes to the course this year. That casual water on hole 2 really changes the feel of the whole front 9.
I thought I was the only one that had the "Venom Venom" song running through my brain everytime I heard the disc name. Thanks Brodie for always being relatable.
Dying at Brodie hitting every tree on hole 2 lmao
What a world of difference between Waco and LVC. So many short but insanely hard holes on this course.

Glad to see your practice rounds are back, will the doubles challenges also return?
If the target is close, aim for the gap.
If it’s unreachable you can aim for the tree.
