    I wore high tops my entire athletic career. The two times I wore low cut shoes I injured myself 😢. First time high ankle sprain out for 3wks. 2nd time I ruptured my Achilles tendon out for 8months😢😢. I will never ever wear low cut again. But like he said everyone is different.

      youre feet are probably accustomed to less force because of the support and likely weakened
      so when u went from more support to less support youre feet's muscles/tendons couldnt provide enough support (werent strong enough) so you hurt urself
      (im just a normal dude on the internet but thats my 2 cents)

    Oh, now it explains why I always feel stiffed when ice skating in tops! As a child, I learned to skate with low top, natural leather, hockey skates. When switched to high tops, I felt much more stable and safe, but it came at the expense of maneuverability. The side motions are slower, and require much more energy as I have to lean, flex and redirect the entire body, as high top rigid ice skates would not allow to maneuver using ankles and feet alone.

    My defense is definitely worse in high tops, so that range of motion matters for a guard but I tend to have more control driving to the basket or on the fastbreak in hightops. This is why I was looking up these kind of videos. I was trying to see if maybe if it was in my mind that my lateral movement felt slower in them. Thx for breakdown.

    Idk why this is still and argument. High tops offer more resistance to a roll, so it won’t be as severe. No, it doesn’t prevent them. But they won’t be as worse as a low. That’s how is the resistance works. I prefer highs, I feel safer in them. Because I technically am. You don’t need to cut so hard to get space if that your reason for lows. D Rose always wore highs, with a brace and he was one of the quickest guys to ever be in the NBA. Look at kyrie, he wears kids and highs and does extremely well. If you can get used to highs, I recommend it. If you like lows, wear them. As long as you’re comfy.

      And do you really believe it was because of low cut shoes? I really doubt that, to be honest.
      Man was working around the clock all his career, I would say it's a better chance to blame overworking his body more than using low cuts.

      @@probasketball789 Anthony Davis also had his first injury while wearing low cut Kobe basketball shoes. Soccer/foot ball players don't do as much of high jumping like basketball players do, and no matter how good your ankles are there is a risk of hurting yourself more when you don't have something to brace your ankles. In my opinion high tops are a bit overkill but midtop basketball shoes brace enough but also give enough room for the ankles to manuever

      Could it be because he immediately gave himself the same amount of load and stress as he used to do with high tops instead of taking time and gradually build the ankle strength that is required to replace the missing support of high tops? If one element of a system has changed, and the rest of the system does not adjust accordingly (at least temporary), then it will negatively affect the entire system.

    could you tell me which one of these would be a better pair for dancing hip hop? high or the low?

    • @probasketball789
      @probasketball789  3 года назад +2

      I'm pretty sure low tops would be the way to go!
      More mobility, no extra weight.
      But, if you're feeling good and think high tops are better becouse of looks or safety, I won't disagree. Hiphop isn't as aggressive and traumatic basketball, so you should be good either way.
      Thanks for the alternative question tho. ✌️

    I feel like low tops is better cus it gives you more flexibility. I play volleyball. I have knee surgery in my left foot, I do not want more knee load there. But I strained my ankle twice on my right foot when I land from a jump. So maybe I am unlucky, or maybe the right foot gets more landings cus my left knee is weak?
    With low tops I can just use a light ankle brace on my right foot to support that a bit without compromising my left foot/knee. Also I feel like light ankle braces move better than high top shoes.

  • @Bigben-1989
    @Bigben-1989 2 года назад +1

    Those aren’t low tops those are mids homie cmon now… sure they call them lows but a true low is running shoe type… yes those “low” (actually mids) are fine but some lows are just asking for a fucked up ankle!! Also it’s about the design like air forces are an ankle being snapped waiting to happen so the soles also matter a lot and it also matters how long your legs are along with how skinny your ankles are.. if you are a 5’8 stump then sure no need for highs but if you are 6’5 with a muscular upper body and skinny long legs then highs are the only way
