I agree with you.The capacity controller works like a fuel gauge in your car.The voltage alarm only gives voltage readings of each cell.But,it's good as a low voltage alarm in the model.

Have this 2 items work good..small one use only as an Lipo alarm..the checker got downside no balancer mode.. for their price its reasonable..great explanation mate!
For Airsoft players who uses AEG guns, I really recommend this because if you dont know if your battery is full or not it would be bloated or lost in Capacity
I use both testers with my quad. Be careful with the small one. Position it also with the LCD facing your pack. Had a hard crash(it dropped from about 50m) n the pins on the back under the instructions pearsed through itsown heatshink n two layers of heatshink I put on the pack. But both worth every cent. at 8:10 Your manual for the Capacity Controller appears to be better, mine says: "NEW Balance Function: Long press the first key, LIPO/LIFE/LIIO will blink, says it is in balance, balance process according to the second button can view each battery voltage, balance is take the batter in the lowest section as the benchmark to discharge balance" (I'm here because I wanted to see how the "balance function" works haha)
Hi great video very helpful I’m looking to fit one of the small alarm monitors in my rc plane once the battery volts are set when you put a new battery in the plane will the monitor still remember the alarm settings or do you have to reset after every battery change I only ask as I might have to mount the alarm away from the battery connected by a brace cable hope you can help John
I recently got the Digital Battery Capacity Checker after seeing this video and this device can even balance the lipo battery cells by pressing the Type button for few seconds and selecting the which cell to balance. Definitely a useful visual device and better than that crappy loud beeper. Thanks for the useful information and definitely must for those who use lipo Batteries in RC Toys, Gel Blasters and Drones
One thing to add, the one bigger battery checker you used does not show individual battery cell life status, that is the only glitch, I bought a Venom battery lipo checker and it can read and show each cell status so you know if an individual cell is over charged or low on charge which can lead to battery swelling & failing
I don't know about you but my one (Battery Capacity Checker) shows individual battery capacity and charge for each cell. I brought it from AliExpress recently and this video is few years old. Maybe the Chinese implemented the feature or your one is old model I think
Hi Matt I also have one of the GT battery checkers and they are perfectly ok but not as accurate as the Celldiag 6, high accuracy alarm battery indicator. I did a test with both of the above by checking them on a pro battery charger and the Celldiag 6 was much closer to the true voltage. They are a little more expensive but worth it when you consider the investment of what you are flying. Happy New year and happy flying.

Howdy fella, maybe make an adaptor lead to a 2s connector and connect the + wire to both the positive wires? Or just fly the model til lit falls out of the sky and then you know it's flat and couple probably do with recharging 😁
I got several of the small ones and I own a Turnigy brand of the large one. Also I own two multi meters. Problem is that I get a different reading from them all. Don't know for sure which is accurate or not.

When i plugged in a battery the other day the small one was showing a whooping 0.1 V more than the bigger one. Strangely when i plugged the battery in for a couple minutes and tested again with both, they were showing the same Voltage.
Hi Matt, They are very good, but there's an even better version for fixed wing flyers, called CellMeter8 which has an inbuilt servo tester as well as discharger/balancer and does 5 chemisty types, around same price, looks same but it's blue. Cheers
Alasdair McC The 150w discharger module is really useful for getting part charged lipos down to storage fairly quickly. Works faster than my sc620 for discharging..
Matt, take a look at the ISDT BC8S battery checker!!! Talk about cream in your coffee, it does everything and has beautiful real digital displays, is much smaller than the big capacity checker that we all have been using. Really, go watch a video on it and then buy yourself one and figure out a way to put it on a lanyard around your neck or similar method to keep handy. Next week you'll be putting up a video on it. These small testers units are not accurate as always faulty sometimes totally defective just out the box .... I ordered two on these model bx100 from banggood Looks like one is showing faulty voltage , and other one is totally defective out the box !! I contacted banggood waiting for replay may the send me new ones And I uploaded videos in my channel wall showing all that . Nice video anyway mate .
Those things are crap. Very inaccurate. Usually, here is a reading difference of 0.1 to 0.2V which is huge in my book. The best thing you can do is to use a decent volt meter to measure the voltage of each cell with a home made two pin cable. Some of those types of readers are decent but they cost 40+ bucks. Why not buy a 70 buck multimeter to measure accurately voltage, resistance and current of not only your battery but also stuff in your house as well !?
Because we can't fly with big (and accurate meters). These small testers are designed to use only during discharging process in rc model/car, they are not designed as desktop meters.
3.8 is 1/2 charge if your alarm is set at 3.5 and your full charge is 4.1 or so. You don't need those fancy modules if you can add and subtract. Jeez, you make it sound like calculus. 3.0 per cell is damage time, don't let your battery EVER get below that or it can be ruined, even during high throttle flight. Too much tech crap can spoil all the fun of just flying.
I bought the simple alarm because on my battery it has led's to indicate me if it's flat or on 20%, 30%, 50%, 70% or 100%. Btw the brand is called Hacker. It's a german brand just saying.
They're both great to have for completely different purposes. One in the plane and one in the flight box.

I have both types but the battery tester does'nt work on 1S, I use the alarm for testing 1S bats along with a voltage/charge level chart.

Try flipping your battery upside down and connecting that way.
I prefer that new blue one with servo tester... But on field I usually use black one.

Hi Mario, thats not how they work. Do to something like that you would need a PWM switch and hook up your own buzzer or hack an existing one. Matt

Stop relying on lipo bags for storage they are not safe enough. Get a Lipo Box.

The reason I bought the alarm is that Hacker says to put an alarm at 3,3 V and not 2.7 V.
