FILM DESCRIPTION:
In feudal Japan, Lord Asano rules his province with fairness. However, jealous Lord Kira (Tadanobu Asano) fears that the shogun favors Asano over him and hatches a plot that ends with Asano's ritual suicide. After Asano's death, his samurai, led by Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada), are forced to live as outcasts. Oishi wanders for several years but realizes that he must turn to Kai (Keanu Reeves), a mixed-blood warrior he once rejected, to help him and his ronin comrades take revenge on Lord Kira.

The performing group who're helping the 47 Ronin sure risked everything.
By today's standards, the performing group would have probably gotten in trouble for being accessories to a crime.... Unless the 47 ronin could have already taken the blame and cleared the performing group of any liabilities
the performers were the ronin themselves. There was no external help, it was them all along
this movie has a nasty habbit of building up awesome tense scenes and ending them very quickly :/
Just like an old samurai movie when there was a duel between two samurais. The moment was extremely tense but it only took one swing to end it.

Yeah it doesn't fly in today's action movies. Doesn't look good in my opinion. Huge build up for a good fight scene but ends pretty quickly. I think a good example of a good samurai movie in this generation is probably 13 Assassins. From what i can think of.

I always found it so amazing that Mika's wearing white wedding dress for her wedding with lord Kira. For westerners it may not be that a big deal, since we're all accustomed to the idea of white being color of purity, fidelity and goodness and therefore a perfect one to wear on the wedding dress... Well, not neccessarily for Eastern Asiatic countries, like China, Korea and JAPAN, which is where the action takes place. In these sides, a red colour would be good for wedding, eventually yellow as these 2 are considered "lucky" colours, red one being more common, due to association with spiritual side. While white, on the other hand is considered a colour of mourning, like what You'll be more likely to see on a funeral and not on a wedding day. It's pretty much as if a bride appeared today in modern era on her marriage day in all black gown with a black mourning veil over her face LOL Pretty much speaks for itself XD So Mika's wearing WHITE wedding dress is like saying a huge "Fək U" to Mr Kira without even opening her mouth. She remains diagusted by him to the very end and her marriage to him is like attending a funeral for her. I know the director of the movie is American, I guess (?) certainly not Japanese himself, so it may be an overlooking from his side, but I believe that it was intentional move, as it fits the storyline perfectly and shows the great disdain Mika had for Kira all the way through. Btw I just adore how Mizuki (witch) cuddled to Kira's side during the attack, she really feels sth more to him, which also is obvious from the way she treats Mika from the start... Such little things and how much they convey. Say what You want about the director, but he surely was NOT a dumb man to sneak so much of between-characters dynamic just in-between-the-lines. It's brilliant and I freaking LOVE it every single time I watch the movie 💝❤💖💗

Red wedding dresses are common in China, but in Japan, the traditional wedding outfit can be white, like Mika's here. My bad. I appologise. However if the film took placd in China, instead of Japan, it could have more deep meaning LOL

Scorpion's 2nd fatality: *enters burning form and charge over plus uses his katana to chop the head and uses his spear to pierce through the mouth*

Besides the fantastical nature, this all actually happened and the 47 ronin suffered no deaths. Though they were ordered by the emperor to kill themselves, which they did, they were revered for their loyalty.

I don't fully remember the movie, but I think he can only do that in the Tengu Forest. Otherwise, he would have used it against the giant monster in the first part.

No the first samurai was the archer's friend in disguise,the mission was to kill the other 3 samurai at the tower but he failed to kill the last one. the plot hole here was how did the last samurai that failed to get killed knows that the dancer is trying to kill the lord
