I took your advise last year and I waited last fall to put my Preemergent down until it got cold. I did 2 treatments, one before Thanksgiving and one before Christmas and for the first time in years, I don't have any Poa. Certainty is the best stuff I found to kill Poa. It is expensive but it goes a long way
Yes, and as I noted in my comment above I can mix it with Celsius and spot spray any weed in my lawn using one tank instead of having to use two separate tanks. One for Broadleaf weeds (Celsius) and another tank for the grassy weeds (Certainty.)
For Poa, simazine pre emergent in the fall or negate post emergent in the spring. The simazine worked wonders for my lawn - neighbors yards are full of poa and mine is completely free.
Doc, DGL seems like an amazing product. I’m in San Antonio so I guess I’ll be limited to spring usage as summers have consisted of triple digits the last couple of years. Either way, I’m eager to purchase for when temps do allow. Thanks for another great product!
Haha you are killing me Doc with the DGL. Thought I had my plan ready for this season now I have to add DGL to the product list. Seems to me like a great product for us northern guys to use when we are doing a nitrogen blitz on our KBG, Rye, or TTTF. Cant wait to do some testing with it when ever it releases
Funny you should mention the arch enemy of all lawn enthusiasts' as I am battling an outbreak now with Certainty. Yes, this product is high but I can mix it with Celsius and combine the two in one tank instead of two to spot treat ANY weed in my lawn. Mike, I have a question for you and would like to seek your recommendation - trees are down and both the roots and stumps will be removed in 2-3 weeks time. My concern is that the Crepe Myrtle may still block the sun from parts of my lawn. Do you have any thoughts as to what type of Zoysia I can plug into around the crepe myrtle that will blend in well with my Bermuda?
If I do a DLG treatment, will I have to cut my grass 2x per day? AM & PM? Looks thick and HIGH !! I am looking for a product to cut my grass less----- maybe Astro turf.😁
Three light treatments over 10 weeks just by hand. Shown in video two posts ago. Results take about 7-10 days. Most of the response will be from N because the iron is slow and needs to breakdown.
Doc... you're in hot, humid Georgia, right? Is you PRG doing okay, it sure looks like it! I'm curious of your opinion about adding a little PRG to my current TTTF/KBG mix. Thanks!
Lots of bad comments about that annual bluegrass killer on Amazon. Any other easy to spread products you'd recommend to get rid of it from hybrid bermuda lawn? I put down annual rye grass a little too late this year. It took longer than expected to germinate, so I didn't get my preemergent down in time to stop this year's poa-annua...help!
Negate WG. $55. Mix the entire bottle with water in a 1-gallon container (not in your sprayer). Use 3-4oz of this mix per gallon of water in your sprayer. Add surfactant if you have it. Spot spray. It’ll take about 2 weeks for the poa to die.
Hey doc lawnmaster here you put a lot of good information on dgL and my next questions are what is the bage size going to be ? And how come you didn't add humichar dg in it ? If I were you I would always want to put humicchar dg in anything and everything if I make a fertilizer product so I don't have to so I don't have to buy humichar separately. How do you get to create fertilizer with the Andersons. From Lawnmaster 🏆
I am interested in trying the new DGL product from The Andersons. My question is, I have used PGF Complete for my Bermuda last year and my lawn was beautiful. How long should I space out the DGL and PGF products for my Bermuda?
DGL is only needed when a BOOST of N is wanted. If the lawn looks good, then don't bother with it. A good time use it is in the early surge to thicken up the lawn and I would wait a week or so, after rains to apply.
I wrote to the people at Image and asked if I should apply it while the Bermuda grass is dormant and they said to wait until the grass greens up and has been mowed 2-3 times. I thought it would be safe to do while the grass was dormant, which is what you say, so I now I am thoroughly confused.
I use Image post emergent even after the bermuda is out of dormancy. This is for you guys that might need something that works and not kill your grass.
I put image on my poa Anna last year and I mixed it strong and spot treated my bad areas of the yard and it didn't do a damn thing!!! total waste of money!!!

Certainty takes too long. Tribute total is the best but even more expensive

Yes, basically full control nitro feed.
I was waiting for that topic!!!!
Thanks for your input Doc
Thanks for the video Doc.

Once it's healthy apply growth regulator. Done
I spot treated Poa Annua and Dollar Weed w/ a mixture of vinegar/salt/soap while the Bermuda was dormant and still cool outside. It worked.
What was the ratio?
1 gallon vinegar 1 cup salt 1 Table spoon dish soap
Ok, for what surface?
And, did u let that be absorbed by the grass, orbdidbu water it in?
@@pi1325 just spot treated, not the entire lawn
I am trying to seed bermuda in new lawn but it has existing broad leaves. Any suggestion on how to get rid of them before?
Doc, how many passes did you do when you applied DGL, and what was the time line when applied to when you seen results?
Three light treatments over 10 weeks just by hand. Shown in video two posts ago. Results take about 7-10 days. Most of the response will be from N because the iron is slow and needs to breakdown.
So we cant use DGL in the summer cause of the 100+ degrees?

Been following you for yrs now👍🏿👍🏿🙏🏾when is the DGL going to be available would love to give it a try.

Usually they always start with an 18lb on new products the first year. No HUM because we wanted to simply focus on the fast N.
Just saved the page for dark green lawn so I can order it as soon as it’s available.looks great hope u make a announcement
Well said young man 👍

Doesn't make sense to me.
Thank you
DOC. Any news on when DGL 25-0-0 will be released by Andersons???? Hoping to get some passing down in April and May.
My guess is 4-6 weeks.
My soil test showed low potassium and phosphorus but hard to find products that are made to improve that condition. Talk to Andersen please
Use PGF Balance until it corrects
@@HowTowithDoc thanks, will try that method this season
Doc, my poa is under control, but kyllinga is peaking out in my dormant bermuda. What can I do now before the bermuda starts again? Thanks!
Probably sedgehammer
What spreader do you use?
I use Image post emergent even after the bermuda is out of dormancy. This is for you guys that might need something that works and not kill your grass.
Will glyphosate work on the poa?
Yes, but there is a chance it can reach the bermuda underneath that MIGHT uptake so don't.
Will the new dark green stuff benefit a new garden?
We tested on clover and turnips and saw strong response. All plants pretty much like nitrogen but I would keep it light.
Can you pull Poa Annua?
Yes
It's REALLY easy after treating I have found. Not so much before. But Yes
I put image on my poa Anna last year and I mixed it strong and spot treated my bad areas of the yard and it didn't do a damn thing!!! total waste of money!!!
I have used Image twice already and I also mixed it a little heavy, it has not killed a dam
Thing either 😂
Be careful with that Image. I destroyed my lawn last year with Image. My lawn did not fully recover until mid-July.
meant DGL
