Hi Gary! This was the best start to my day! I really enjoyed hearing about your yarny adventures and your process for choosing pattern or yarn first. My process is very similar. I'm still working on learning to knit, but I so enjoy looking at all your makes. Pixel is adorable. Have a great weekend!🤗🧶☕️
I was amazed to hear you haven't been crocheting for that long, as I consider you so advanced in the art of crochet. I love all your videos so much and always look forward to the next one. Pixel is adorable!!
Hi Caw46 - thank you for that compliment. I do plenty of mistakes and am continually am learning, but it's so nice of you to recognize my efforts. I'm extremely humbled.
Great learning more about you and your yarny adventures. You are such a creative person and your occupation reflects that. I love the sampler scarf you made…the colors are great. Couldn’t even tell your edges were wonky.🥰
Hi Gary! I love the scenery you share of the gorgeous area you live in. Oh boy, I love the Chocolate BonBon hat too. That was my first hat and I played it over and over again also. I'm so grateful for Crystal's way of teaching. Thanks for sharing! Pixel is adorable.🐶 😃💜🧶
I love hearing your stories on your knitting and crochet journey besides various stories on your more personal family journey.🥰 Your lapghan containing knitting and crochet stitches is a story full of memories! I love that you frogged the beautiful colored yarn from your first project, put it into this lapghan and used that rich deep gold- yellow yarn to highlight and really accent the colors!! I learn so much from the colors you use and blend with, including the stitches you use! It’s quite amazing!! I used to be a Floral Designer, Landscape Designer and a Horticulturist. I owned 3 Garden Centres, many greenhouses- growing 1000’s of trees, shrubs, all the flowers, hanging baskets, perennials, herbs, etc. I loved being surrounded by all the colors and textures in these type of mediums everyday!! I had to retire from all of this 16 years ago because of severe arthritis and failed back surgery. Missed all of that so much!! The covid shutdown brought me back to start knitting again but I wanted to learn how to crochet. Learning from RUclips with Crystal, Naztazia, Rebekah(Blossom Crochet), Bella Coco, Hooked by Robin, Fiber Spider, Secret Yarnery, Jayda, Creative Grandma, Mikey(Crochet Crowd), of course Urban Yarn🤗, so many more that make up this wonderful yarny community!! I love having all the colors and textures with me again!! Pixel is so cute and has grown so much!! Our smaller doodle cross Tia, lived to 16 1/2 yrs. old. we miss her every day. I am your neighbour,👋 living in Maple Ridge, in the lower mainland. Thank your Gary for another enjoyable video with you!!😘🌷🇨🇦
Hello Bonnie from neighbouring Maple Ridge! Thank you for letting us read about your yarn crafting journey. I loved learning about your work with plant life and how colours is still a huge part of your everyday joy. I'm so humbled with your kind words and glad you liked the content of this QnA styled video.
Good grief, you are such an inspiration! I learned to crochet in the 70s…just made a couple of blankets-picked it back up when I retired. I’ve yet to make a sweater. This year! Your work is so beautiful.
Hi Vicki - thank you for letting me know a bit about your craft journey. I'm so excited that this might be the year for your first sweater. You know I will need to see the progress on that! I know you'll love working on it!
I learned knitting as a young child in the 90s, but picked up crochet in January 2019. Crochet has become my preference, but i love that our journeys began in such a similar time frame. Here's to many decades of yarn crafting ahead. Cheers!
My, Pixel has grown! Such a cutie. I love these Q&A videos. Are you familiar with The Knitting Man? I can not knit- believe me, I have tried for over 50 years, but this guy’s work just makes me keep trying. He is like you, in that, well, you know there is an artist inside, and not just a crafter. There is nothing wrong with crafters, but there is a tremendous difference between the two. I should probably stop watching his channel, because he makes me feel so much regret, not being able to master knitting. I enjoy your channel, it is my “relax with a cup of tea time”, whereas some channels are my “relax with hook and yarn time”. I always look forward to your posts.❤❤❤
Hello Cyann. Thank you so kindly for this message. These messages really spur me on and encourage me to keep trying. I do love this journey - even with the set backs of mistakes I make and the growing pains. I hope you keep on trying - sometimes it's those little rewards that happen and make it all worth the while. Thank you for your tip on The Knitting Man - I'm off to take a look. (I just subscribed to him - WOW!)
Really like the Q @ A. Got to learn more about you. You have turned your craft into art. Your skills you have learned and done In such a short time. Pixel is adorable.
LOL - I have a confession, my ramblings went on a bit too long in the unedited version. There were so many great questions that I didn't get to, but I will try and answer them in a future video. I hope you are yours enjoyed the weekend!
I love seeing Pixel! I can identify with your answers. One is when I'm learning something new and having to redo many times until suddenly I get it. What a thrill!
Graphic design? THAT explains why all your MAL presentations look so polished. Since I saw the first one, I always look forward to seeing the images all nicely put together. For some reason I thought that you were an educator. In essence, the audience receiving the presentations are being "educated" on the data points presented. 😉Thank you for sharing this first half of the Q&A and I look forward to the continuation.❤
Thank you for letting us into. OMG that is the first item you did. Crystal is the best a teacher and makes you feel like you can do anything. I am so far behind on her videos.
Hi Barbara - I'm so happy that you've enjoyed the QnA styled video. There are many great questions that I didn't get a chance to answer, but perhaps will in the future.
Gary, you have named the pioneers on these #RUclips streets. Myself and millions of people have gotten their #crochet and #knitting creativity and knowledge from. They are ✨️GENUINE, ✨️ORIGINAL,✨️ and beyond talented ONE~OF~A~KIND content creators. 👑 #bagoday 👑 #naztazia 👑 #fiberspider 👑 #urbanyarn The most authentic inspirational kind and authentic content creators.
Thank you so kindly Amy - I'm humbled that you would place me in with these amazing teachers and artists. I have so much further to go until I'm at their level of brilliance.
Love hearing more about your journey and where you find yourself! Some of your favorite yarns were particularly interesting as there are soooo many I haven't tried and decisions must be made. You are a testimony to the virtue of persistence and determination. Can you even imagine what life would look like if you hadn't persevered at the beginning? Well done! 👏💕
Hello Mary! If there wasn't any knitting or crochet (yarn in my life), I think I would be doing something else in the creative realm. However, after experiencing several years of yarn crafting (and then having to give it up) I would most definitely miss it too much if I couldn't continue!
I so agree Gary about patterned stitch work that reveals itself as you work! I’m finishing my first piece of inline mosaic crochet- I think I might be addicted to that technique now 😂 I’m not surprised that your a graphic designer given how great your colorways are in your projects 👍🏻
Thanks for that video. I'm amazed that you started both knitting and crocheting in 2019. You are soooooo talented - it appears that you've been doing it for many many years! Love your co-host 🥰
Love the Q and A! I'm so amazed that you've learned so much in such a short time. I tried knitting a few times and got so frustrated that I gave up. I've been crocheting for 30 years so I guess I don't have the patience to knit! And Pixel has gotten so big! She is adorable.
Hi Jennifer - Thank you for sharing a bit of your yarn journey with me. I really like to learn about the viewers crafting. Crochet is so wonderful and I just love how many textures are achievable with a variety of stitch combinations.
Really enjoyed your Q&A. I found myself nodding in agreement with why yarns, patterns, designers and learning the craft inspire you. Noro was very popular when I first learned to knit. I bought bags of yarn, books and leaflets at every Stitches event I attended 😂 Just this morning I was considering using Noro Matsuri in a project. Your video motivated me and now I’m going stash diving. Thank you!
Hi Patricia - I loved reading that you had a trip down memory lane with your stash diving. These are some of my most favourite pass times to do in the yarn corner.
Thanks for sharing some of your fibre arts journey Gary - you've achieved so much knowledge in quite a short period of time . I just love your knit/crochet lap blanket 🤗 I'm also bi-stitchual - been knitting for over 50 years & crochet for almost 30 years .. I absolutely love both art forms I get so much joy from it & it brings such a peace & harmony to my life .. Pixel is soooo adorbs .. thanks again 🧶🧶🐕🤗
This was such a lovely morning for me ❤ listening to you and working up a new market bag 😊 Thank you so much for sharing with us ❤ I am looking forward to the next time ❤ I agree with some of the others... that your talent is equal to some that have been knitting for years ❤ I struggle every time I try😢 Have a great day 🤗
Hi Jean - thank you for the sweet message. I am also continually learning and the best part of that is we keep trying - the process reward is when we get those Uh Ha moments. Please keep going!
Hi Gary, enjoyed hearing about your knitting and crochet journey. From your creations I assumed you had been doing both for many years. Loved the thumbnail with Pixel.
Thank you Cheryl for your comment! Even though it's only been 5 years - it's been almost every day and many wonderful hours. You could say I'm fanatic about keeping my hands busy!

Speaking of fault lines, did you feel the earthquake by Vancouver Island? I can’t remember if you are on the island or not! 💗🧶I wish we could get you to do tutorials on RUclips! Your creations are so amazing!
Hi there QEDOma! No I didn't feel the earthquake - but I did go to a website to see if it was documented and you are right there were several over the timeframe you mentioned. They weren't large in scale, but curious to spark many people's interest.
Yarn inspires me also. Looking, smelling, squishing, color, etc. encourages creativity.
I agree with the special yarn time to generate creativity.
Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself. It's always interesting to learn of others' creative lives.
Gary your co-host stole the show! It’s amazing how talented you are! 🐾🧶💜
Hi Rose - Pixel is so loveable! We're lucky that she wants plenty of cuddles!
Such an insightful video. Fun too. You are inspiring Gary. Hi Pixel.

Great info!!
Knowing that you're a graphic designer makes a lot of sense as to how you put colors together with wild abandon!! Its "hard wired". 😉
For being a relatively 'new crafter', you do amazing work!!!
I started when I was in single digits (maybe 5 or 6)... I remember selling crochet vests when I was 9 (in the 4th grade), I my first sweater when I was about 16, cowl neck, ribbed body, fitted ribbed sleeves, put it on, fit like a dream, immediately ripped it back off!!!! It was a gorgeous red heart yarn, a brown/gold/orange/yellow, it actually pooled on the front like a sunset..... THEN I read the label..."miscellaneous fibers".....
That's how I learned I had a sensitivity to wool. I could work with it, but I can't wear it. 😭
With the modern superwashes, its MUCH better!!!
Luckily I have very knit worthy friends. 🤣😂🤣
Hello Patti - I loved reading your yarn journey! Wow, you started so young and what a passion to keep at it throughout all your life. I can just imagine how enjoyable it was (and still is) for your family to see that joy you have when making things.
Hi Gary! I really enjoyed this…You are an inspiration🥰
Thanks Lori! I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for sharing Gary!
Hello Gary! I adore your beautiful intro videos. I am a nature lover as well❤
I'm so grateful that you've mentioned the intros - I love putting them into my videos. When I watch them back it's my documentations of what our family have been doing as well.
Great chat! Lovely makes as always!
Good morning, thank you for this video 💖
Soooo awesome to get to know you better❤️❤️
Thanks Debbie - I do have your question that will be one I've saved for the next time!

Hi Linda - this is so kind of you to say. I am continually learning and make plenty of mistakes along the way. I'm very humbled by this comment.
Hi Gary Hank is looking very dapper. Kathy
Good morning to you. 😊
That's for sharing!!
Hi Gary, Pixel is just so adorable!
Hello Lynette! I heard the Northern Lights went as far south as Ohio and I'm hoping you got to see them where you were on Friday night.
Hi Gary, your co-host grew up on you. She's no longer a puppy and so beautiful. I loved your Q&A and am looking forward to the next. I hope all is well and stay safe.

Aww great picture of you with pixel 😊❤
I love the scarf. For knitting, check out So Wooly. I've knitted for many years bur I've learnt lots from her
Thank you so much for the So Wooly recommendation!
She has grown so fast.
Lol..yes I watched that video before you took it apart .I thought it was good .
Hi Bunny - I remember recording the 1st video where that scarf and beanie were featured. It's awkward to watch me squirm in front of the camera, but I'm glad I have a record of the makes.
So get the pattern and yarn search thing. Very familiar. Lol
Hi Andrea - it's perpetuates continued searching through yarn and patterns. Part of our fun as crafters.
Great video Gary
Pixels is so cute 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love Pixel. 💙

That was all very interesting information. Can I add a question here?
What was it that made you want to learn to knit or inspired you to learn the craft?
Next question - do you mind if I borrow your idea & do an episode of Q & A on my channel?
Hi Judy! Of course you can ask a question.
I'm not too sure on the reason for my inspiration except to master the technique so that I could make things. I've always been spurred on by keeping my hands busy and I guess it was time to start with yarn crafts. I also was looking for a more affordable pass time and all my other crafts involved so much equipment (Pottery, Painting or even when I used to have a gym pass).
Oh, I'd love to watch a QnA from you! Please - I would also like to ask questions. Please let me know where you are collecting them and I'll pop a few in.

Hi there QEDOma! No I didn't feel the earthquake - but I did go to a website to see if it was documented and you are right there were several over the timeframe you mentioned. They weren't large in scale, but curious to spark many people's interest.
