How do plants heal and survive damages?

Simon Stael, a researcher at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), wants to find out how plants manage to survive damage to help them survive even better in the future. Simon has discovered that special enzymes, known as proteases, are activated and initiate a healing process when the plant signals damage. He believes that this knowledge can also be used to create more selective pesticides.
