  • A demonstration video of Malwa's 5.5 tonne, 6 wheel drive, purpose built forwarder. Here we are extracting 3m Spruce from a thinning in Scotland.
The Malwa 560 F is a light weight and low ground pressure forwarder built for contractors. It is rugged and productive with high quality components. 2.8l engine from CAT, pumps and motor from Bosch Rexroth, crane from Cranab, Grippen grapple, control system from Parker IQAN, all bolted to a highly engineered chassis designed and built in the south of Sweden.

Thanks for this video lets us out here in video land who doesn't own or operate any of these and never will, we just like watching. This answers some of those "how does that work?" Thanks again.

Looks like a nifty little machine! The controls seem well thought out, too. Setting the speed with the dial, much like cruise control, appears a little odd but I'm sure you get used to it very quickly.

Yea, it's more like a speed limiter than cruise control as it just sets the top speed. This lets you keep your foot flat to the floor rather than having to hover at the right speed, which can be tricky when bouncing over things in the forest.

@@treelinewoodlandsltd6162 Ahh, very nice! That is a lot more intuitive to drive, and definitely improves comfort and control a lot. Cheers! :)

I like these little forwarders I looked at buying one to use in the New Forest and other the only problem is loading trucks and how far you have to drive to the unloading areas people want you to use and not just come straight out of the forest. Thank you for the video thumbs up and shared. 👍

Hi Richard, thanks for your interest. For long extraction distances you can use the trailer which takes capacity up to 9 tonnes, or in volume terms the same as a Komatsu 845. (See video here: ruclips.net/video/azA9HuT5nHg/видео.html ) The crane and height of the machine would not be so good for loading trucks though, we have never tried...
We are looking at the option of hiring out one of our Malwa forwarders for people to use on sensitive jobs and to be able to get a better try of the machines, especially if they have individual sensitive jobs but not full time work for it. Let us know if this would be of interest.

what is the total length of the bunk and can load 16 ft logs

    • @treelinewoodlandsltd6162

Yes, we quite regularly move 16 ft logs with ours and it manages fine. 12 ft is the sweet spot but with 16's we just don't heap them right up. The bunk is just over 3m long with an extension of about 40cm if needed.
