This was a really fun moment for me 😆 Joe’s bass line is killer. And I know it’s not cool to brag - but actually, if I’m being honest - I wish more people celebrated their strengths more often, so I’m gonna practice that here. I was proud of myself in this moment! That I could hear what the bass line was playing, pick it out by ear, and sing it in one take. That I have the ear, pitch and vocal control to do what Jack asked me to do. That’s taken YEARS of practice. And yeah, I was born into a musical family, but I’ve spent my whole life singing, and most of my adult life playing bass. And when those skills come together and I get to shine, that’s a REALLY GOOD FEELING. 🥰

This seems like a small moment but it's actually an amazing example of an artist and producer being completely in sync. Yes, it means Nataly has the ear and brain to immediately and accurately identify the bass line, and the vocal ability to sing it; but it also means Jack has the stylistic mind to hear and target that line, and know just how Nataly should sing it, and that it perfectly suits her aesthetic, and trust that Nataly can do it. This is how really good and honest-sounding songs get made- the opposite of vocalists who buy spec songs off the rack, hire the most expensive producer they can afford, and shove a single out the door.
Tl;dr Nataly and Jack are an awesome team with an awesome creative process.

This was my life for 12 years straight as a voice agent and engineer of 25 years. I've never met more chill and relaxed people in all my travels in life. Thanks for the video.

    i admire the engineer’s work.
he conducts the session by being the cue! follows the interactions and is always on point with the flow…

I don't know when they decide to start and stop recording but I'm SO stoked they were still recording for this. Not only is it insane how she immediately got the bass line down and of course her vocals are beautiful, but she was so in pocket on that timing I'm mad about it. Lol!

I'm only a drummer but the satisfaction of hearing that nailed on the first take was amazing.

I personally think a good drummer is an integral piece of the puzzle.

@@ericamann2533 you're not wrong, but a singer who is that in touch with the rhythm section is a rarity in my experience, and a real treat

I just love seeing the 'behind the scenes' songwriting process and how an individual's train of thought contributes to the song and inspires others.
My past experiences have been dismissive, ignorant and with the occasional shouty part (only with a couple of bands 😅), so it's so therapeutic to witness such emboldened calm and respect that allows the creativity to breathe.

This is so awesome. The moment is fun and cute but the way you nail it in ONE TAKE? So impressive to the people who get it!
