That line is such a perfect way of showing Mike's flaws. His grief makes him so much less of a father in law, hence the "me and *my* son" and not talking to Stacey
The obsession BCS fans have with the Emmys is always weird to me. Like, who cares what a bunch of people in some high offices think? Does it make it better if what? The show is awesome and beloved, so what is with this need for validation from some academy? Also, did you watch every single show/ performance BCS ran against every year? If you didn’t, how do you even know that it should’ve won over others?
Did you think or research before you wrote that? He won the Critic Choice Awards for Television. If you mean an Emmy, then you are basically saying that Peter Dinklage should not have won the award for Games of Thrones. Is that what you saying? 😂
I noticed Mike began to treat Saul as a fellow criminal and with contempt after he had to bury Saul's old boss, Howard, whom Saul and Kim had framed as a dirty Lawyer; maybe Mike took having to bury an innocent man stained with a dirty reputation, much like his Son, personally.
Mike's moral compass is actually kinda interesting. He has little to no care for any criminals or regular people, but regular people outside of the "game" that are affected by it truly hurt him, and he even grows to care for Nacho and Jesse as a kind of distant father
Not just that, but also Nacho’s father giving Mike a reality check that nobody gave Mike before. “You gangsters and your “justice.” You’re ALL the same.” Ultimately, Mike ended up being no better than the two cops who murdered his son.
@@miguelrosado6348 The 2015 Emmy went to Peter Dinklage in Game of Thrones... for season 5. Season 5 was really bad and only coasted on ratings from seasons 1-4 as the best television ever made. Tyrion season 4 was a juggernaut, he was front and center that season at his trial and put out a masterpiece. Aaron Paul won that year, while he'd be deserving of a win any other year, Season 4 Tyrion easily crushes Season 5 Jesse. Season 5 Tyrion is a different story entirely, not at the fault of Peter Dinklage but he wasn't that important and the series was just bad. Season 5 GoT deserved no awards.
@@muphynman221 After careful deliberation, I have to accept that's a good point. I watched Peter Dinklage accepting the award and even he mentioned that Jonhthan Banks should have got the award. I was under the impression this year for season 4, not season 5. I was wrong.
This has to be one of the best scenes in Better Call Saul. The absolute pain that Mike has to confront - that Matty was not dirty, and that he had to be FORCED into taking that cash, all to be gunned down, and for his wife to think that he was a corrupt cop. The performances here, from both of them, but particularly Banks are an absolute masterclass in acting. Jonathan was robbed of his emmy.
This whole show deserved gold because it was more than a spinoff. It was a great expansion to something we never thought to get more of. The cast and crew exceeded expectations every episode and it saddens me their recognition wasn’t fully expressed
The thought that your child would knowingly do bad can be painful. And having other people think they did bad when they didn't can be just as difficult.
Great episode, but this argument was on two different planes of existence. All she wanted to know was what happened, and Mike berates her for accusing Matty of graft which she isn't at all.
Dude just randomly gets selected for the role of a lifetime and nails it. Comes back and becomes one of the main characters of the prequel to that same series and hits it out of the park. They need to give him more roles.
2:44 the delivery on “that was between me and my son” was perfect
That line is such a perfect way of showing Mike's flaws. His grief makes him so much less of a father in law, hence the "me and *my* son" and not talking to Stacey
Hell of an actor !
the fact that Jonathan Banks never won an award for this speech is criminal.

BCS lost an Emmys award fifty three times, is this enough ?
I mean, great speech, great scene, 1but it's not on the level of the chuckanary speech.

@@miguelrosado6348 You're right... I didn't research enough.
This was the episode that really sold me on BCS in the early seasons. This was so incredible.
Mike knew he had to tell Stacey the truth since he blames himself for what happened to Matt.

Jonathan Banks should've won an Emmy for this scene.
This is the most emotional Mike Ehrmantraut scene in both BrBa and BCS.
So Peter Dinklage should not have won the Emmy for Games of Thrones that year? Okay. 😂

This episode is what made me realize the plot will be split in half . With both Saul and Mike crossing paths until both worlds collide in season 6
my son took a long bath with bottles and bottles of soap for two hours! he wasn't dirty!
LMFAO. Thank you. I needed that :)
mee too

the episode that made me fall in love with this show
this scene tells us that Mike's son had very good hygiene
This was the only time Mike ever yelled. The idea that someone would suspect his own son of being a dirty cop enraged him like nothing else could.
The thought that your child would knowingly do bad can be painful. And having other people think they did bad when they didn't can be just as difficult.
Man I remember early on people would say “ I’d rather a mike show” BCS is so much mike it’s incredible, right from season 1
mike can make a mister clean ad
This has to be Jonathan Bank’s best ever acting performance.

Mike's struggle is hard to watch

THIS was the moment walt became Heisenberg.
Wife: Didn't I tell you several times to give your son a bath?
Me: 2:49
2:46 I'm lost
Kerry Condon is so great in the Banshees of Inisherin
Great performances
So hard moment! I love chemistry Jonathan Banks and Kerry Condon❤🔥
interesting last name on the actress 😆
@aboutblank2270 👀
“My son wasn’t gay” 😢
Mine broke us more than his son
This is the moment Waltuh
Guys I’m starting to think Mike’s son wasn’t dirty
This is the moment Mike's son became "Wasn't Dirty!"
That suitcase! Are you telling me that $6000 just happens to be lined like that? No! He orchestrated it!
i love this episode
2:56 Dang. Holy smokes.
Mike being first time Police officer's job?
he was dealing H
Okay Mike.....sounds like you were though, lol
He was actually
This show is easily better than Breaking Bad.
"God damn you! You get that through your head! It's one duck. His name is Jim. And publishers are interested!"
Octavia?
А где остальная сцена!? Блин, обломали конкретно -___-
They already uploaded it preciously. "Mike's heartbreaking monologue"
Yo you can hate all you want, but imo this is my favorite BB/BCS episode ever. Chicanery my Blue Sky
I’ve literally never seen anybody hating on this episode 😅
Yeah I rate this above Ozymandias tho no cap. Mikes my favorite character
Wait wait, was he dirty or clean? I'm confused
he was clean
Mike’s son wasn’t dirty. Mike was.
He ALWAYS bent backwards for her, so seeing him snap at her, with those eyes! The acting on this show was superb!
:)
