Reminds me of 'No Country for Old Men'. It's a lot more interesting to watch our character's outwit eachother through cunning and situational intelligence than some ambiguous sense of wisdom that's constantly alluded to but never shown.

The climax of the scene is not when he kicks their arses or throws them out, it's when he goes to the bathroom to wash the blood off the pistol, and realizes he's not as sharp as he used to be: 03:58. It's a powerful moment, greatly underlined by the melancholic musical score.

If you consider the time setting of BCS and Breaking Bad (early 2000's) and Mike's age, his choice of clothing when he goes on his sniper missions in the desert- which is totally Viet-Nam era US special forces, I think it's safe to assume that the reason Mike is such a bad ass is that he's not just an ex cop, he's also a Viet-Nam veteran commando. That was always the impression I got, anyways.

You can still pistol whipped with a polymer frame pistol. If you want that kind of damage just get a steem magwell for it and you get the benefit of faster reload aswell.
