Incredible video overall - I literally never heard of this game or series before finding this channel and yet became that invested in the game and its speedrun over the course of the video.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed! I’m very glad that Xbox recorded all of that stuff on a notepad document with time stamps and video links because it made my life so much easier when making the montage.
Another absolute banger. Never played Red Ball in my life but I've been hooked since the Red Ball 1 world record progression video. Very happy that Xbox finally achieved absolute dominance in a Red Ball game.
It's funny to me how someone so skilled in getting things done as quick as possible can take something like 'beating a game in less than ten minutes' and make a feature length film about it. The red ball community is so neat, and I really wish it got the attention that it deserves. Very well done video overall, I really like the editing style and like how everything is explained so clearly.
that montage at the end, synchronized with the music is brilliant. Never played red ball in my life yet i watched this whole thing. Kinda dumb, loved it tho
I heard my name being called? I WILL say, at the time I had submitted my video series, I had barely any understanding of what a speedrun was, so I definitely hadn't submitted it with the intention of having a WR. It's neat that I could have had it at some point though!
Wow, it’s awesome that you found this video! It’s cool that you uploaded a playthrough of the game so shortly after its release. If it weren’t for RUclips / recording software limits in 2009, you probably would have had an (unintentional) record to your name.
@@Maximum Little bit of behind-the-scenes trivia, at the time I recorded those videos, I didn't have any sort of video editing software. The reason why the videos are discontinuous is because in order for me to break up the videos, I had to manually end, and restart the recordings. I believe it was done in one session.
Not trying to take anything away from the runners that did it, they still are obviously at the top, but hoarding records in secret is super anti-competitive and seems a little petty. Same thing happened in mario kart 64, causing one of the most prolific runners to quit the game. It takes away all agency for the person going for the sweep to contest the records; if a new wr gets dropped you could go fight to take it back. But when a ton get unhoarded at once, its too overwhelming to have to contest them all for the sweep. The only options are to give up or start hoarding your own. The fact they did it to you twice feels pretty bad, but I'm glad you don't seem too bothered by it (based on how you talk about it in the video).
I think it depends on the culture of the speedrunning community. In the SM64 community it was definitely unsportsmanlike whereas here it seemed to be generally expected and all be in good fun. Although I'm not a part of either community, I'd imagine it would be pretty obvious to somebody in either community whether it's acceptable or not.
On the 9th of August, 2021, a speedrunner by the name of Xdxboxjaja completed a phenomenal speedrun of a flash game called "Red Ball 2" with a time of 7:48.933 in the Any%, Pause and Glitch category. Xdxboxjaja's time came from a long span of competition without a runner named "dha" who had not been making large improvements to the world record that year. Most notably, dha failed to save an entire cycle in stage 15. Essentially, this platform only lowers every 10 seconds of time. Runners had always lost a significant chunk of timesave waiting for the cycle, but dha was able to fail the cycle at 50 seconds flat, losing him almost 10 seconds. This cycle loss was extremely unclutch and very expected to the game's runners at the time. Since dha failed to achieve a time of 7:48.933, it has been tied by three separate runners to the exact same frame. rare.eg on July 16, 2021. "MoreMaximum" on July 17, 2021. XDXBOXJAJA ON THE 9TH OF AUGUST, 2021. All of these runners booted up the game at different times, but it didn't matter, and everyone entered stage 1 on the exact same frame. The videos desync from this point due to lag, but since the game is timed without an in-game timer, this doesn't really matter. The gameplay displayed in all of these runs in the last 5 stages was seemingly imperfect. It's hard to tell due to these video recordings happening at either 30 or 60 FPS while the gameplay is happening at 30 FPS, but every timer appears to stay perfectly together on the entrance of stage 21. YES. All signs point toward 7:48.933 being an unbeatable time.
