Wow, this is incredible for 8 bit
nimrodimus better than the Gameboy or that planned NES port!
The Gameboy version was actually better than this played much better and included babalities so could have been done just as good on the NES. Don't get me wrong this port is still decent for the System but an extra stage added babalities and slightly improved response times like Game Boy could have made it better. Sadly Probe were working on 30 other games at the same time so most of their games were rushed throughout the 16-bit era. Only 18 months after this they dropped game development down to just 3 at a time and become once of the best porters in the 32-bit era and got rewarded by being purchased by Acclaim who then went bankrupt and took Probe down with them.
wizzgamer if it was on the game boy color, it could’ve been even better!
@@wizzgamer dude a extra level or fatalite changes nothing because is choppier
Footy Fam there was a planned nes port?
I still have this original cat. This is such an amazing 8 bit game.
Melhor MK que fizeram em 8-bit
Verdade!
@@lucasfilpo7609 eu tbm tive
Eu alugava essa fita . Top rs q nostalgia
The pit (brigde) stage music is awesome ! A darkness tune
It´s the armory, but I love the 8 bit version
better than mk3 for master system, this version is very good to 8 bit system..
I noticed that this version runs faster than the first version. I was a little disappointed with it at first though because it still looks kind of choppy, however, after thinking about how Nintendo couldn't even attempt to run a game like this. This is a technical marvel!
This game spoke for the Master System way too late for me and to win the 8 bit war.
@Stefano Pavone agree
The gameboy version is much better. More levels better gameplay a extra stage and babalities. Now this is a great port. But to think the NES couldntbdo this is foolish! The gameboy was 8-bit
This is truly God's work for a SEGA Master System cartridge.
It really is the master of systems
@@blastproces I see what you did there.
Wait till you play the Game Boy version it's a lot better than this version and on less powerful hardware.
@@wizzgamer I've played the Game Boy version and dare I say, REALLY impressive for the Game Boy.
It's cool that the 8-bit versions of this game were better than the 8-bit versions of 1 and 3, since to me this is the best of the trilogy anyways.
Kung Lao is my guy personally, but he is not in this version of the game, sadly.
Nostalgia.
I love the way the music sounds on this version.
O melhor Mortal Kombat! *--*
The sound effect used for Shang Tsung's Soul Steal fatality makes it look like he's collecting a fart.
Tempos bons que não voltam mais
And it even has some voice samples, I'm surprised how good it looks.
one of the fews games for SMS that features digital voice
Yeah. The others are Populous, Impossible Mission and World Class Leaderboard.
this really makes me appreach anything else beside the gameboy version
The sms was my first ever console! I miss my fucking childhood!
I can't believe this ran on 80s hardware. Incredible
I know it's incredible the Mega Drive/Genesis is even better than this too which is also from the 80s but was rushed like this version due to probe working on 30 games at the same time.
It may not be arcade perfect, but it still helps soothe my painful memories of Street Fighter 2 on the C64 (Just nice to be reminded 8-bit is not inherently bad, as long as people actually put some effort in).
biggest disappointment, ever. (sf2 c64)
I wish we could heal your pain
Masters of Combat had a nice use of SMS sound system too! One of the best.
This never made it to the NES because it didn't have the power to do it. Enough said.
Well it did..but as bootlegs
You have to admire the cojones on the dev team, porting this to the Master System when even the 32-bit consoles struggled to offer true arcade fidelity.
32-bit consoles didn't struggle. The ports were bad. MK3 and Trilogy are incredible.
can you play this on a american master system or power base converter?
Será que tem versão com som FM ??
I'm impressed they said fight lol
Not bad for a a 8 bit system.I `m surprised how large and detailed the sprites are.
@@okbruh bom saber disso rsrs 😁👍🏻.
The same sound from the Master System and Game Gear with Mortal Kombat 2 is cool!
Quite decent conversion to an 8-bit system
I never seen something that is awesome!!!
this proves master system was better machine Nintendo bought up all the game titles had a monopoly
Waylon Eastwood It came out 2 year after the NES, numbnut
I'm sure it came out the same year
The NES had a way better library of games regardless of how good it looked
Same with Gameboy
AmetReloads gay-boy? Really? Are you fucking 8?
I like that Jax is taller than Kintaro. x') This is actually pretty amazing for an 8-bit game, admittedly. I don't know if I'd play it, but it's certainly technically impressive.
+RobChapman91 its not taller look at their feets
I see. Kintaro's almost sunk into the floor... weird.
Then again, this is the Sega Master System we're talking about. It's pretty amazing that this game even exists, on a technical level. :P
I agree with you. Really impressive.
wtf does the master system II has PCM sample support??
I spent half my childhood on this. The other half was on MK1
Boas lembranças!!! Simples porém completo!
I never played the MS version, only the GG version but it was incredibly impressive at the time. I think it was a good decision to try to stay as faithful to the arcade as was possible within the constraints of the system. They could have opted for a less ambitious visual style which would have run a lot more smoothly but it wouldn’t have been MK.
I'm impressed the master system pulled this of
nothing like SMS to spice up your MK2 experience
Hey, T-0815, did you use an emulator? I could never find a very good emulator for SMS. Always some issue with the sound!
Looks good
Hey, voice clips in an 8 bit game :D
Is it really only possible to do one Fatality for each character? (Not counting the stage Fatality where you knock your opponent onto the spiked ceiling.) And is it not possible to do the Babality or any of the Friendship moves?
Cartridge and console memory limitations.
Where is the Gameplay of Mortal Kombat 3 of Master System?
Even Jade is present here ! And a 3rd battle stage
the music is great
That does look very nice indeed.
Game gear?
What was the name of the soundtrack that plays between about 2.20-2.45 mins please.
what a great variety of characters XD
Is it weird to say that you can play a Saturn game on a Master System or Mega Drive? Watch the other versions, then let that sink in!
only sega can pull of this title on an 8-bit console no way can the nes pull it off like sega!
This is a fantastic port.
actually looks passable not some flickering choppy mess the nes compares with
Never knew this was made for the master system plays like game gear
At least this had more backgrounds than MK1 on Master System.
I'm actually surprised that MKII was released on the Master System!
Nostalgia total!
Nintendo never will be able to do something like that in Nes.
Thats the most funsized kintaro i ever seen.
missing fighters: kung-lao, raiden, baraka, johny cage :(
I can't believe they had this game on an 8 bit system.
this is pretty much a straight Game Gear port, but it works.
Master games are essentially region free. So it should be no problem.
GAME GEAR!?
The Sega Master System was a home console, the Game Gear essentially used the same hardware, but used a lower resolution (with an adapter you could play GG games on SMS and vise versa).
Sean Jacox you couldn't play game gear games on a master system. Only Snes did the Super Game Boy thing. Which is a shame as some of the GG exclusive titles like Shinobi 1 & 2 were awesome.
retrobiggy Technically speaking, Game Gear games can't play on a Master System because the Master System has a lower color palette.
true. Would have been awesome though wouldn't it.
Yeah.
This is very funny. I came here because a colleague of mine told me that as a child owning this game and having memories of master system this version is really awful in comparison to the genesis version. I confirm this theory and it’s really funny but master system had a lot of limitations as well
i also feel that MK 2 on the Nintendo Gameboy looked great too
The master system was supported during the time of the genisis?!? 🤯
Only in Europe and South America (Specially Brazil), where SEGA was very successful with the Master System.
this was a thing?
What? Video games?
Looks nice as an 8-bit game. Too bad Master System wasn't big here in Finland.
this is impressive
Very very ambitious
The wrong song plays on the wrong stage
I remember you could beat almost every character by using the uppercut and fly kick
bonne adaptation
bien adapté
Haha love how 'goro's lair' is just the tomb with a hastily cobbled together background. Still, not bad for 8 bit. I still think mk1 for sms is better.
Mk 1 is sluggish as hell
@@ajsingh4545 Yeah I suppose. But that just means you can take your time keying in the special moves! 😂 Also it was the first MK I ever played so at the time I had no basis for comparison.
This looks very similar to the Game Boy version.
Eu tenho o mk3 e não chega aos pés do 1 e do 2
8 bit? Wow.
Yep, this is barebones my friend
afallfromgrace I’m not your friend buddy
Does somebody know if it is possible to disable the blood in this verison?
I wonder why this game wasn't released for NES
Jax looks bigger than Kintaro at times.
It even had the FIGHT voice clip
0:51 FIGHT!
@kasouyumi
That's fine you're probally to young to appreciate a older system
A brave attempt. But SMS Mortal Kombat 1 was far more impressive IMO. Master System also had Masters of Combat, a surprisingly very good one on one fighter.
I agree. too bad this never made its way to, the NES:(
MKII only on SNES for me
I like how Jax is taller than Kintaro, lol...
This one's just like the Game Boy version, except that there's a little bit of blood, the music's in the wrong arenas, and the animation's kinda less smooth.
Lold so hard at the Fatality music
This is basically just the Game Gear version.
