- In this video, I bring to you the evolution of Sub-Zero's most iconic move, the Ice Blast, also known as Ice Ball and Ice Freeze. This move appeared in Mortal Kombat's first iteration in 1992 and has appeared in every MK entry since, including Mortal Kombat 11.
I look at the elements of gameplay and storyline to bring to you the development of this influential character in the last few years.

FUN FACT: 6:06 in MK9 Sub Zero in his intro says ''This fight will be your last'' something they refrence here thats sweet i love it
he said "will be" in the intro,and after his enemy dies he said "was",the opponent has his words

If my memory serves me right, Sub-Zero was the first character I learned about from Mortal Kombat before learning about the other characters

Subzero from deadly alliance looks like he went through hell
Lost his brother Bi Han, the ideology of Cyber Lin Kue from Sektor approved by the Grand Master, Lin Kuei corrupted until Kuai decided to abandon his clan, knowing his late brother become the dark shadow ninja a.k.a Noob Saibot, his best friend Smoke got kidnapped and turned into cyber Lin Kuei by force, had to deal with his false accusations about killing Hanzo's (Scorpion) wife and child + Shirai Ryu clan like every day, etc.... Yep, he really is look like he went through hell and i gotta admit that Sub Zero's life story are far more depressing than Scorpion life story lol.
In mk9 it wasn't even an ice ball no more, it was a whole ass ice beam 💀

To me, an one handed Ice Blast is not nearly impactful as a two handed one for some reason, looks like he throws a mere stone at you. Personally love MK4/Gold Ice Blast, his short cry makes it more epic, he puts some effort on it.
I see that. I also see it as Sub-Zero fully mastering his cryomancing to the point where he could easily just throw ice balls like no problem too
they nailed it in deadly alliance and built on that forward
and it looks the best in MKvsDC because the blast actually looks like it's strong enough to make them flinch like that

Blood is sensitive on RUclips. Robocop has oil instead, it is less likely for the vídeo to get demonetized. As for the Scorpion video, it is already on my channel. Search “evolution of scorpion’s get over here”

in the first few games it looks like he puts a lot of effort into the move because he crouches which sells it more
but then in the later versions he just sticks his arm out and it looks kinda stiff and lifeless
its just not as dramatic or ninja like at all
I hope MK12 focuses more on a believable martial arts look and feel with more attention to animation and the finer details of movements

@@nicolascarmona3081 yes. look at sindels cartwheel in MK11 compared to MK9. in the older version it was a graceful flexible movement and in the newer version it was very stiff and robotic. these details are very important as it not only effects the look of the game but the feel of the game too.if the graphics are improving with each version so should the animations so theres no excuse for the character movements to be worse 8 years later. Movement is extremely important in any fighting game. ;)
or you can simply interpret that sub zero has become a more experienced guy in his skills, and that he doesn't need so much effort to use them anymore, it's no wonder that in MKX and MK11 he is the grand master of lin kuei :)
