- I have been wanting to make a video of this place for some while now and I finally got around to making one. I have shot here once before but this time I researched more about the place which made my Photography session more interesting.
This is Part One of a Two Part Series.
Part One - Location Shoot and Developing
Part Two - Darkroom Printing Session
Keep a look out for the Darkroom Print Session which will be Part Two.
I must thank those two Ladies that kindly spoke to me on camera about their experiences of the Cellar.
About my videos
If my videos inspire, create ideas and help others in film photography and darkroom work then it's worth making them.
I always welcome comments that are useful towards the video subject that will help others understand the process within.
Keep shooting and thanks for watching.

We need to get you on television. I can totally see the discovery channel sending you around the world doing what you’re doing.
😂 Cheers!
Yes most definitely
National Geographic level narration...
I tought i was on the wrong channel.
Nice video as usual.
Thanks Xavier. Trying new things :)
the mamiya 645 is amazing
thanks for sharing this experience with us
that house looks like fun to shoot!
Ghosts and film photography. This could be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Please do continue this scary ghostly series!
Thanks! Lots of haunted places on this island!
Great point about sometimes having "too many" pics on a roll 🤣👍🏼
Good to know about the fixer.. learned a lot and had some laughs. Loved your use of music, your production is dialed in nicely. Engaging throughout!
Thanks Logan!
My heart jumped at 7:13 :) Great video as always SFLAB
Mine too! 😂
another awesome video. keep em coming. Cant wait for the printing session! Thanks!
It's always nice to find small channels with amazing videos. I really enjoyed watching this episode. I'm definitely subscribing!
Thanks Bananaman! (name cracked me up!)
That was the most dramatic mixing of chemicals I've ever seen.
Nicely done! I am waiting for the prints.
Fantastic channel, recently caught the film photography bug and found your channel, top quality content. Thanks 👌
I had a kingfisher pearch right next to the bird hide one day. Kingfisher had never been seen in that location, focused, pressed the shutter, nothing, press press press, camera not working, pulled the camera back into the hide, shutter fired perfectly, just as I got focused up on the kingfisher again, it took flight, fired the shutter, got a photo of a stick. Your mates Mamiya acting up at the celler entrance bought the above story back to mind.
Bummer! The Mamiya has played up before using the timer. Luckily I'm not shooting wildlife! That wind gust was freaky though. You see me look around sharpish. I thought my video camera was going to go
Great video Roger.. Loved the music you played after the ghost stories.. got me back from behind the sofa!
Can't wait for part 2. If you find anything 'supernatural' on the contacts, give me the heads up and i'll make sure I bring my security blanket! Take care buddy.. Great job! 👍
Ha Ha Ha!!! if I do I'll have the vicar in after the session!! Thanks for the kind words Tony 😀
Fun video! Keep up with the good content 👍🏻
Your chanell is just amazing! I am new to film photography and developing and I learn so much from your videos! Keep up this amazing work!
Thanks Piotr. Kind words.
Man you outdid yourself on this one! I love this channel, but you turned it up to 11 on this particular video. Well done!
Thanks Alex. Trying new ideas.
i love this keep doing such videos
History and film photography, two of my favourite! Nice t-shirt btw!!
In the wash now. :)
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss haha nice one
Such a great video! The narration was awesome. I’m not a scanner either, so boring...I’d rather be printing.
Your best yet!! Loved watching this! and i'm really pleased you are trying medium format too :-) (LF next!!.... catch that bug and you'll have no money!!)
Cheers, I've more vids on here shooting MF. Money and LF ha ha. No change there then 😂
Great content!
Nice work on the footage from the house. Good amount of B roll and that narration was spot on!
Looking forward to the printing video. I've watched pretty much all your printing videos and they make me want to get back into my friend's darkroom and learn some more.
Since I been on RUclips the word "B Roll" I had to Google! It used to be known as "Cut aways". interesting. Thanks for watching Mark. 😊
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Yeah, I think B roll is the American term which has made its way over here.
Didn't realise until recently that you were from the IOW.
@@MarkHickford Yes, Well, the last 12 years. South London for 34. It's nice here.
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Well, yeah... obviously you're originally a saaaaaf laaandunnn boy! :p
@@MarkHickford Ha Ha. saaarf 😂
really great video, thanks for putting the effort in.
Thanks for watching Socrates!
Great consistent content! :)
Thanks Madison!
Stunning as always!!!
Thanks Gianni. Enjoying your Instagram feed by the way!
Shoot Film Like a Boss thanks boss!! Same for me!! Can’t wait for the second part😬
@@giannidigirolamo8868 I ran out of time for a darkroom session. This video took me over 15 hours to shoot and edit. That's why I'll make it two parts 😉
Shoot Film Like a Boss i can imagine! The first part is equivalent to a documentary ;)
Wow...a AP with a blue cap.....
Awesome channel ! You remind me of Phil Collins.
Phwaaa! Wish I could drum like him. :)
My favorite Mamiya 645 film is easily FP4 because its easy to use in the 645 and produces some amazing photos.
I have tried Hp5 and Delta 100 and 400 and XP2 in my Argus C3
I prefer overall Delta 100. I find XP2 to be a frequent staple in my camera bag because its easy to get developed.
Fp4, hp5, delta range trix, tmax I've all found to be solid films and easy to work with. Mamiya is a good bit of kit too
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss I find that Tmax has development issues depending on the chemicals used, I used Ilfosol 3 on 2 rolls per ilfords recommended time cause they include it on the chart on the website and it came out super grainy despite the fact that its probably one of the cleanest films grain wise you can get.
@@pilsplease7561 I've never used Ilfosol. Could it have been reticulation?
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Im not sure, Ilfosol is ilfords one use developer, you mix it and use it for a batch then toss it and make more but its supposed to work with pretty much every film. I just cant get good results with Tmax yet ilford themselves tested it and it worked out and I used the recommendations they had on the chart. What developers have you used? I might try a different one out if you have any suggestions.
@@pilsplease7561 I use XTOL mostly 1:1 dilution. And also D76 and Rodinal.
Lovely video as usual! Enjoyed it very much. What tripod are you using?
It's a lightweight Velbon tripod. 😃
the safe light to test for the paper I use a 20c aus piece and run the safe light for 10 mins if it makes a mark in the paper your safe light is not safe good diy job tho rodger look forward to that haunted print sesh the 645 produces some quality images
Thought I'd see if it worked. I held paper in the DR for about 2 minutes with my thumb over part of it and totally went black! I need another one that side for the videos. Ebay it is then!
try hitting up your local photographic supplies they some times have that 2nd hand gear laying around
you should load your film backwards like i did on my first roll.. makes developing a hoot !
get the happy mondays in there
They already had a TV ghost hunt made years ago.
Very nice video, as always! May I ask which tripod you are using?
It's a Velbon video head tripod.
Okay, thank you!
third comment
A haunted house and black and white film photography ... who could ask for anything more?
John Finch recommends fixing for twice the clearing time:
www.RUclips.com/watch?v=Agdn3ms5jCA
In the above video he also shows a two bath fixing technique. I know he has another video where he demonstrates fixing for twice the clearing time using a single fix bath, but I can't seem to find it.
Do you squeegee your films before hanging them up?
I used to. but I lost the squeegee I had no choice but to hang wet. Found squeegee again but stopped using it as I found hanging after the washing liquid they dry perfect.
Thank you I'll try that. I use film but after processing everything else is digital and film scanners are fairly unforgiving of dust, hairs and streaks.
@@DessieTots I always hang in my bathroom. Take all fabric out (towels, toilet rolls, clothes) and have a weight or peg clamped to the bottom of the film. You see me in the video hang in my darkroom but there is no air in there and the film takes hours to dry. so I move it to the bathroom where there is air. Washing up liquid works well for me. I've never had a problem
I can hear those boys laughing........
I see dead people..
