    I think Penn was only taking multiple guesses to build suspense because he knew that they were wrong. He even prefaced it by implying that there was a "disadvantage" when he knew there wasn't. Pretty funny when he asked the interpreter to say "He fooled us" and she gasps and says (in English) "You fooled them."

      Yeah I'm pretty sure they knew those hunches were wrong. It's one of those cases where knowing how it doesn't work makes it even more mystifying--if they didn't point that out, someone at home might have thought to themselves "that's stupid, clearly there was a mirror in the glass". P&T knew there weren't, and wanted to remove all doubt.

      But I still, I didn't like that many guessing...
      I mean, his trick is amazing, but it could have used glass (or other small trick) to make his whole show even more spectacular by combining his trick with other and make it even more mindblowing...
      So what, if he used one of "these guessing" as "extra" bonus ? It would make the decision even more questionable and less enjoyable
      Maybe they were 100% sure none of them were used, but still, I didn't like it

      I suspect that Penn and Teller actually knew he didn't use those techniques, and that they called it out so the audience would know it wasn't that simple. That was why they took so many guesses and spoke without code was to give the chance of saying "if you think you know how he did this, then you don't" (which i definitely appreciated).

    This just reminds me of one of the most powerful memories I have. When I was young I was entranced by the escapism magic featured on Breaking the Magician’s code, as even though he revealed the core of it, it was still just something that could be built off of, and I started trying then. Now, I was just doing simple card manipulation (but god damn when I first did a false shuffle and trick someone the look of wonder...) when a bully in my middle school basically took and ripped my cards and told me “magic isn’t real”. This hurt, I nearly stopped trying, but... I realised, just because magic is more deception than witchcraft, doesn’t mean it isn’t magical. Remember how that magician revealed all his tricks? He still performed them first, letting our minds race, jump to impossible conclusions, before revealing it was just an empty space underneath. But, just for that moment, everyone in the room is together in that wonderment that brings you right back to when you yourself still believed in magic. And that’s why magic is real. And will always be magical.
    As a side, Yukihiro’s reaction to fooling them was... moving. He was so humble about his skill, yet I bet he could give great SOH magicians like shin lim a run for his money. Keep it up Yukihiro, you’ve got a lifetime to keep being awesome.

    Oh my god your performance was amazing. Like almost every move had a purpose so efficient, all the angles were PERFECT, made use of stage distance, not sure what prop that was I've never seen it before which makes it so unique, what a poetic ending that linked to the starting's lit match, your body posture and smile, timing and pacing were so lovely and comfortable to watch, the entire thing was absolutely ELEGANT and well polished I love this performance. My guesses, and I was pretty sure, were the same as Penn's. I was very surprised to find out none of them was correct.
    And I must say, the performance was amazing. He was very likable, and when he started crying so did I. You could just feel how much it meant to him.

      He does seem to be doing something to the glass before each change. To my untrained eyes it seems like masterful twisting/spinning (even though he said he doesn't). Great performance whatever the case may be.

    No twisting the glass? Holy cow. His hard work throughout a decade paid off the moment they announced he fooled them.

    • @CarrotCakeMake
      @CarrotCakeMake 3 года назад +1

      I was certain he was twisting the glass but P&T must have seen something that ruled it out, otherwise they wouldn't have pretended to ask. They were really just telling us what he didn't do.

    I've seen a lot of Penn and Teller Fool Us. I've been watching since season 1. I've had my favorite act locked in for some time (Shawn Farquhars first appearance) Somehow I haven't seen your appearance until 31/1/2023. This is my favorite fooler from now on. Not only was your performance beautiful and stunning, I could literally feel how much fooling them meant to you. I couldn't be happier for you, you deserve it.

    Dude.. I have watched so many of these and this was by far the most beautiful, elegant, flawless and magical performance I have witnessed.. He seemed to make the illusions emotional somehow, like a love story between the colours, the cards and the wine glass.. I loved every second of it! Yukihiro, you truly are a master magician. Thank you for taking the time to create and practice that routine for so long just so that we could have 5 minutes of true magic.
