Classic retro designs are always great, especially when they're related to classic films like Star Wars. Let's take a look at this super fun watch and see what my thoughts are.

I had the original for my 13th birthday off my parents in 1980. Was an absolute stunner then and still have it today ! Retro is so cool. This is on my wish list soon ! Good vid.
Very cool, thanks for sharing. I have had many fond memories of watches from my youth that I still kick myself to this day for either getting rid of or losing those watches.

This is awesome. You're right about it being terrible value. Still better value than the Pac Man Timex IMO.
It's just one of those watches where as long as you know what you're walking in to, and you're okay with it, then it's incredibly fun. 100% fun, 0% value, just like a really hot one-night stand that turned out to be batsh** crazy 🤣

That pac man watch is a total rip off.
It is a collectable thing, similar to the figurines that bump up the prices of Delux editions of games, movies and so on. Don't think you wasted your money on this. Because, it is so thematic, when CITIZEN stops the production of this watch, you will probably regain its value both emotionally (not selling it) and financially (selling it). Thank you for sharing!
Yes I thought the same way. I never purchase a watch to resell it for profit, however I know that if I take care of this one maybe 50 years from now it will retain it's value easily.

Wow! I'm actually jealous. I should have waited for the price to lower but excitement and "fear of missing out" got the better of me. You'll definitely enjoy it if you're as crazy about Star Wars as I am.

The only thing I like because of the price is how thin it is. At that price, there should be MORE. If I could wear quartz, I'd be in at $159 Canadian. To me, the cool factor, does not equate to a tripling of the price. If this was not tied into anything, it would be a $99.99 watch. Thanks for the video. Enjoyed your creativity in its creation. There are definitely things that I feel Citizen unnecessarily left out.
For example, it would have been easy for them to include Eco-drive. The backlight could also be brighter than the dying wick of a candle. The water resistance could have easily been deeper than a sink too.
That's why I emphasize that this is NOT a value watch. It's purely a cash grab that's trying to illicit an emotion from die-hard Star Wars fans (such as myself).
I'm okay with it because I knew what I was walking into. Citizen has proven to me that they are a great company so putting out something fun like this every once in a while is okay in my book.

Citizen Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal now has these ~$270. Still steep but much more reasonable than a $350 MSRP.

Just got this for free from work for my 10-yr Anniversary gift! The black "Trench Run" version has a much nicer engraved back, but I totally don't like the front fascia of the "Trench Run". The "Rebel Pilot" version has a very cool Retro look to it.

I am a Star Wars fan, and I would like this watch. Only if it was $50 max. Let's be reasonable, it has nothing but the Star Wars theme. Maybe they paid a ton of money to Disney to remake this.

Do it bro, value isn't always everything. Sometimes the joy alone is worth the cost🤘 (plus if there's a return policy then you can get your money back if you end up not really feeling the watch)

Oh man, if they made a terminator one that would be SICK. They should just make a version for all of the best Sci-Fi greats, like Blade Runner, Alien, etc.

I completely agree. Not worth it in some ways, but worth it in others. It's an unexplainable factor about a watch where sometimes prices doesn't matter at all. Sometimes you just buy a watch for the pure joy of it.

Nice review man. I bought these just today but you forgot to mention that inner voice that says: "they are more expensive then they should be but you should buy these watches because they are collectible and you will sell them at least for what you bougt them for" (which is very likely not going to happen :D )
lol, yeah right? I know it's way overpriced but when it's this cool and fun I can't help myself. I know I won't sell it, but maybe 100-200 years from now if my family still has it maybe it'll be worth a lot 😁

It's a cash grab 100%. However I am too much of a dumb basic b**** to say "no" to it. But the important thing is that I've accepted this and I've learned to love myself lol.
This retails at £269 in the UK which converts to $369. I managed to get one at cost for £118 which is $151. Even that was too much.
I think $150 is a solid deal. Despite the obviously gross over-priced MSRP, there's still an undeniable 'X-Factor' about the watch that has so much charm/charisma to the Star Wars fan, and unfortunately, but expectedly, add to the price tag.
Do you mind telling me where you got that deal? Under £200 I'd be tempted...
@@robertjohnkemp I work for a citizen stockists. I called them up and asked if we could get them, they said no because they're a h Samuel exclusive - but they kindly sold one for me personally. They sold it at cost price and posted it directly to me.
At 1:00 the stop watch digi section returns to 00'00 and start again .
Could you show how to adjust the band size? I bought the Evangelion x Citizen ana digi temp and I just cannot for the life of me figure this out
There is a clasp that needs to be unlatched on the bottom bracelet. Once unlatched you can slide it up and down where it needs to go to fit your wrist. In order to unlatch it you need to use a small flathead screwdriver as a lever to open it. It should pop open and you can use your finger to pop it back into place.

I still have my original citizen ana digi temp i purchase from a pawn for 90 bucks shop in 1990 I still have it now im collecting the difference ana digi temp variants I'm about to restore mines and I'm just waiting to have the parts come in
Thats awesome man. Very rare to find people who restore things and breathe life back into them. That's how a watch really gets it's soul.
Vintage Citizen Digital watches had the safety tab in the quick adjust bracelet.
I'm impartial to it. It's a nice touch but personally it gets in the way more than it provides extra safety, but I'm sure it's a feature that most people like.
@@degenerateWA its just an added security feature to prevent the watch form getting off the wrist but it sure gets in the way.
Can the bracelet be removed and replaced with a leather or cloth strap?

Yup. Like I said in the review, retro style is cool, retro technology is just old. They could have captured the essence of a classic without keeping the dust from 40 years ago.
@@degenerateWA it looks like they took a watch from the 70s and put it directly in this age, while only changing the face. Also, no water resistance is a missed oportunity
Yes, a very easily avoidable missed opportunity. In Citizen's defense, it's not meant to be a rugged/outdoors watch. However as a person that enjoys good quality and value, I would have liked to have received a tough watch in exchange for my hard-earned cash.

How do do adjust the wrist to make it smaller ?
There is a clasp that needs to be released on the bracelet. Once you release the clasp it will slide up and down for you to set to the right spot. You will need a small rod/screwdrive to release the clasp.
This watch looks good, but with my aging eyes and those tiny dials, I would wear this more as a show piece rather than a functional piece that I would actually use for telling time.

Unfortunately it is not. It would have been perfection if they included eco-drive.
strange how the numbers aren't on the time analog, the hour and minute hands should be on the orange side
Makes sense. The orange dial acts as an indication for other things too so that's probably why they laid it out like that. Not necessarily how I would design it but it just takes some getting used to.
for that price you should get the whole set
if only that was how all watch companies thought.

Great review. Just received mine today. Am really surprised how small it is. The casing is tiny. Are there other case sizes? In my limited search, nothings come up.
Nope, just the one size. It is small but I think square watches can visually pull off being a bit smaller and still look fine.

@@degenerateWA i really wish it would be only 50 more so i could justify myself😁 also, it would have been better if one of the 2 dials at the top of the rebel watch would have been one of those displays from one of the 2 dials on the 'trench run' watch, preferably the display Luke used to fire the missile
That would have been a great little detail. What would make it even cooler is if there was a red backlight that lit up the display at the push of a button.

Paid $288 for mine and I hate the bracelet. The end links are fixed at a certain angle which makes it wear much larger. Anyone with less than 7 in wrists will not be able to comfortably wear it.
I didn't consider smaller wristed folks. I guess this watch is really only for people with 7-7.5" wrists because the bracelet won't really adjust past a 7.5" wrist. Maybe 8" at the most but that's really pushing it.
Disappointing! 😯....I've got a 6,75 inch wrist.

This is not a value watch at all. A pure cashgrab 100%. I think as long as the buyer understands this, and still wants it regardless, then it's a ridiculously fun watch.

I love Citizen technological prowlers but I don’t enjoy their odd overly complicated design. This watch looks like a gas pump.
