- Data catalogs are here to stay and a great asset to data-driven organizations. But how do you best implement a data catalog? To tell us all about it walk us through the pitfalls to avoid and the best practices to follow, is Rupal Sumaria, the Head of Data Governance at Penguin Random House UK.
Some of the important points( according to me, with minimum knowledge) are.
1.One of the top priority during deciding the right tool is simplicity.
2.A pilot project(3-6 months) is advised before going with the enter enterprise data.
3.Tagging is a very useful essential feature.
4.Not all data is important, focus on the more important data.
5.Users should be able to log their suggestion.

Hi George. Would you be able to add a reference to the International Data Consortium study that you referenced in this interview. It was in response to Rupal's comment that a Data Scientist went from taking 7 days to 30s for finding data.
