Hi Cath! Thank you for taking us along through your thought process on upcycling.
It gives me a good think about my me-mades and how I can change the ones that do not suite me anymore.
I honestly find all your vlogs inspiring and informative.
    See you next time!😊

Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy having a think about your memades, I think it can be quite fun and satisfying doing an upcycling project. Hopefully I’ll be able to improve both of these dresses 😊🤞

I hope you make a skirt with the black dress. Easy!

One idea for the blue dress is to turn it into a tank top and a sporty faux-drawstring above knee skirt. It could be a cute cozy lounge set. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Wow, big challenge with the black dress. I can’t wait to see what you do. Please share pictures how you upcycle it, I’d love to see the process. I love the sleeve, maybe you can save them in the new garment.

Thank you! Yes that’s a great idea to save the sleeves and reuse!

I really enjoy your videos. I agree, while the black dress is lovely, it seems too big for you. I’m looking forward to seeing your upcycled garments.

Thank you very much, yes it feels too big, I hope I can make some changes so I can turn it into something more wearable!

I am 100 percent with you on the indie vs big 4 patterns. When I first started sewing as a young girl there was no option, I sewed big 4. But when I came back to sewing I found Love Notions and Itch to Stitch and I learned about ease and fitting so wonderfully!! Later I tried to sew some matching PJs from a big 4 pattern for my granddaughters and myself. Theirs turned out ok. Mine are 3-4 sizes Too Big. I am spoiled. I love the Indie patterns ability to get my fit Excellent. Just today I was wondering about trying to use a big 4 pattern........
Your sewing abilities are excellent and spot on. You know Exactly what's up with the dress. And so....oh I am Excited to see what you do!!!!❤

      Thanks so much 😊❤️
Yes I feel much more comfortable fitting indie patterns too!
Hopefully I can turn the dress into something I’ll reach for more. I hope it will be fun trying to refashion it 😊🤞

Great plans as ever Cath. I agree with you that the black dress did seem to be a little big for you and not your usual style. Could you restyle it a little like the Davenport dress? I think you already have that one which looks lovely (if its the one I am thinking of!) I would definitely change the neck as I don’t like things touching my neck and bring the shoulders in. I want to change my Estuary skirt but not not sure how to shorten it when its on the bias. I’ll work it I’m sure. Thank you for the inspiration. X

Thank you yes I do love the Davenport dress, that’s definitely a style I feel more comfortable in 😊
Good luck with shortening your Estuary skirt, I really like how that pattern looks when it’s chopped off a bit 😊 x

Hi Cath, I have to say that I really like that black dress. I realise that I can't see it close up , but I do think it looks great , it's definitely a
formal type of dress so maybe that's just not the sort of dress that you like to wear . If it were me, I would probably just lower the neckline!!!!

I love the black dress pattern,it’s got some very pretty details and shaping. In black, it’s all a bit much isn’t it? I wonder how it would look in a lighter colour fabric.

Thank you! I do like the top part so a blouse would definitely be a good option

The black dress.... Have you tried wearing it with a really wide belt in a different color or texture? I too have a longer torso that requires adding 1-2", and a few times i added too much and a wide elasticated belt was a welcome addition without having to redo anything.
    Maybe add thin shoulder pads?.
The dress really looks good on you but needs to be accessorized maybe to be less formal and funeral wear.... There i said it, toooo much black. I think it's savable.

    • @madebycathcraft
      @madebycathcraft  Год назад

Thank you; that’s a good idea about adding a wide belt! I’ll try it. Thanks yes it does feel a bit too formal and a bit too much of the one colour. Thanks for your ideas 😊

I like the black dress but it just doesn't look like your style. It would also look better if it fit more in the waist.

I love 99% of your makes but I really don’t like the black one. I think you summed it up- the dress is wearing you

    • @madebycathcraft

Thanks yes I think the plain fabric combined with the fit not being great makes it feel overwhelming. Hoping I can turn it into something I’ll reach for more!
