Did you tip each time you got a drink or had a meal? I am sailing the Haven in two weeks and I am still uncertain what to do. Also, would your butler bring you anything you wanted to your room (for example: wings and fries for a late night snack)?
Hi there. Nobody forces you to tip. If we get exceptional service and we think we won't see that person again, we tip at that time. If it's a server that we see all week, we wait until the end of the trip and hand out thank you cards & tips. The exception of that, for us, is the bartenders. It's always a good idea to take care of those who take care of you. So we tip every few rounds. Regarding the butler, yes, you can have the butler bring you late night snacks. Keep in mind that after 9/10pm it's a night butler and not your regular one and food typically takes 45mins to an hour for delivery. We don't really use our butler but he knew that Stef and I loved pineapples and that I'm allergic to seafood, so he took care of us in that fashion. He also left M&Ms for Stef every day. The butler is really an extension of the cabin steward and concierge. They deliver snacks every day, replenish coffee, will deliver meals to your room, etc. If you need anything they are also a great point of contact. For example our Butler on our November trip was instrumental in getting our room fixed. She worked with the concierge to keep on the issue until it was resolved. They are there to help make your stay a little more special.
sorry Sean and stef but I do have to say this, I find it unfair to do sail away in time lapse mode as we dont get to see whats around the port as you sail out and some of us would like to see what is around especially those who will never see these ports for real, but the vids are still great, its only the time lapse's I dont like
