Lamalera: a remote village of 2 500 people on the southern coast of Indonesia: When globalization strikes and people are torn between the preservation of traditions and the need for modernity, discover how the entire village has to confront a new kind of battle, an ultimate battle-for their survival.
It's funny the Muslim government of Indonesia helps them preserve their tradition and even their Christian faith but the Christian WWF is trying to take it away
Please minimize the use of blurring effect. This is an educational film, and we seem to lose quite a lot of information trying to accommodate a small group who frankly should grow up and accept the uncomfortable reality of blood, violence and death in the natural human heritage that is hunting for food. Great documentary

Yeah as a fisherman I can only keep a couple fish meanwhile they are out there netting tons of fish 😢. At the end of the day it’s all about the money. But money can’t replace a species that is on the brink of extinction 🤦♂️
( Mohon maaf jika salah )
It's quite hypocritical of the WWF to go after the Lamalera and their traditional fishing, while not doing anything about the Japanese shark fin fishing, or the Taigi dolphin hunts.
I love their way of natural living, no police, no hospital and they're living happily with conflicts. The man made paper money is the evil of all! WWF shouldn't worry about one whale or two they catch to eat. God bless and be with them🙏❤❤
yes indeed, unlike them when their wounds get infected they just accept death while we are too scared to die from a simple wound we have to rely on modern medicine. they are strong people
I stayed there 10 days in 1993! Joined them hunting whale sharks back then. They charged Rupiah 15,000 incl 1,000 for the boat. They practice barter trade with villagers from the other side of the island, bc there soil is not great at all.
After commercially hunting for money and they want to band traditional hunting for thousands of years. Depleting whales is not from traditional fishing but commercial fishing. Same thing with pollution. Big countries profiting from pollution and against pollution.

Villages like this are not affecting the fish population badly . It is the commercial boats coming from as far as China .
Like this John West?
Exactly what I wanted to say. The method is basic and the purpose is just for family consumption and not for commercial export.
