    Is great to have you back! Having a 12 months break between videos helps us see the progress (or lack thereof).
    I have mix feelings because I see progress, but it also keeps making mistakes that are inexcusable at this stage.

    • @Kick9494
      @Kick9494 Год назад +3

      Why inexcusable at this stage? It’s like you know or have some sort of expectation for a service - this is one of a kind, never been done before in 4 billion years, most other car makers can’t do it, try to do it and fail or are going down an unsustainable path (cruise, waymo) - 10 years ago it was considered “impossible” to implement a generalised solution, now “expectations” are so high …… FYI - it’s a BETA software product.

    • @frangalarza
      @frangalarza Год назад +3

      @@Kick9494 well they do sell the product and it is wide release, and they do charge money for it and they do recognize a big chunk of that money as income. And they sold it under the illusion that it would be ready in 2020, then 2021, then 2022. Now it's 2023 and it keeps driving into train tracks, over curbs and almost getting you rear ended for no reason.
      And it has been done before, look at Waymo and Cruise. But of course they use maps and Tesla refuses to do that, they rather drive in the wrong lane 🤷🏻‍♂

      @@frangalarza “Keeps” doing things as you describe is not an accurate representation of usage. It is specific user experience on specific roads, in specific conditions - Does it need work, yes, but don’t extrapolate a use case across all user experiences. It is an innovative approach to develop the system with end users and it has its risks. It is widely delayed from original expectations. It is remarkable that some (which can be a lot) of people, expect magic. It is Beta software and it is delayed and it is very disappointing but it will revolutionise our lives across the world 🌎

      @@frangalarza - Let’s first agree that Tesla will defo want to fix the problem. It’s safe to say that they are throwing the best minds in world at it. There is no reason not to fix it, therefore we can summarise to say that rather than fix a specific problem, they are working on the foundations to allow the car to manage ANY reasonable scenario (this being one of them). Therefore they are not trying to fix a car going over the kerb, they are trying to teach it how to view, interpret and act. Us mere mortals can’t even comprehend this approach, or understand it - just look at one of their Schematics of the decision engine and data input handling - we don’t have a prayer 🙏

    Interesting video highlighting the short-comings of the FSD. It seems like FSD does fairly well with simple situations in smaller towns and simple roadways (like the Chuck Cook videos), but really struggles in cities with more complex intersections, bus lanes, bike lanes etc. I definitely enjoy watching both the successes and failures of our current technology and watching as it gets better over time. Hopefully Tesla is able to use videos like this to improve their FSD in the years to come.

      Chuck has it right - the unprotected left turn was hazardous. They sent a team out to investigate and came up with a solution of sorts. His is a real world case - but there are probably thousands of examples of his turn - with variables as to if there is an island or a divider. It’s a basic turn which should have been addressed a long time ago.
      I haven’t seen much content from Boston or other older cities where the roads were built on horse paths - narrow roads. Odd intersections. Sometimes sideways streetlights. Odd angles for intersections.

That seems very counterintuitive that it has to completely figure out like a new driver every time it goes around a corner. I think it’s because that’s how humans drive when they are in an area they’ve never driven before. That is the bar Tesla wants to reach, human level performance in ALL scenarios. Then, they might introduce things like memory to improve performance. If you introduce those things too early you use them as a crutch, masking poor performance in the fundamentals of the systems.

    Honestly, this video brings up a lot of great, complex conditions that are nice to see tested. It's a shame there's so much clearly negative bias here. So many user mistakes and misunderstandings blamed on the car that make this more of a trash Tesla video than an objective test.
    There was a lot of jumping to conclusions and a general lack of knowledge of what situation the car was dealing with. The car was actually following the speed limit, the car stopped because it reached its destination, the car braked (admittedly too hard) because of the tram and how the road and no right turn sign came into view, etc.
    I really hate to bring it up, but it looks like being fired from Tesla is very relevant to this video. This does not scream professionalism. The intro itself shows what the channel is about now. Hate to see it.

    As far as I remember there was this promis years ago that the Teslas would use swarm intelligence so e.g. if many cars go on clear traces through intersections etc., the Teslas would immedialtely get these informations and because of that would go very precisely on certain traces on difficult roads or intersections. Logical, because we do this too, we look where the locals go through huge unclear intersections, and follow if it feels somehow logical. Beta: "Shut up. I make my own world based on vision only."
    Never seen a behaviour that shows this swarm intelligence. At least going across curbes is a proof that Beta learns not the precise traces from other cars.
    Anyway I don't understand, why Beta is taking turns always weather super flat or very wide, rarely going a very simple bow.

    "Why the hell did you just slam on the brakes, Tasla?" 10:30 This is very clearly why: Beta is not intelligent, it doesn't understand it's surrounding but only checks a few parameters (like where is the road, where are obstacles, where is my path, pedestrians, other vehicles and their paths) and now comes something that Beta can interpret at best as obstacle/blockage: a sidewise crossing tram. Beta doesn't know at all what a tram is and where trams go (on rails, sometimes crossing with the right of way then) but thinks this is a bus (not on street, then blocking your path) and Beta looses all ideas where to go now (twice the blue line in front of the Teslamodell on screen disappears), so, completely clueless where to go and how to deal with the "blocking" bus it just wants to give up and stop. And as Beta never took into account the danger of rear ending cars... so why not stopping. The flashing red waring singns maybe also caused confusion. Because this sign explains the situation with the tram, if you are intelligent and understand your surrounding.

It's not enough for the Tesla to avoid colliding with people and objects (which is a MUST!) - FSD must also behave in a predictable manner so that pedestrians and other drivers are not put in compromising & dangerous positions that result in consequential accidents. I strongly suspect that Tesla's data gathering excludes the havoc FSD leaves in its wake from the indecision & erratic maneuvers witnessed in this video.
