I remember talking with friends during my 90s childhood about the Hades arc we will never see on TV and only read with the manga. We were reading over and over the manga and imagined how it will look. Then they finally made it and I remember downloading the first episode with fear and joy and then with that music playing and the melancoly filling me, I knew the wait was worth it.
The opening music is like a series ending closing music, and yet it works. It really sets up the stakes too that this was an enemy so far superior to what they’ve encountered and was setting up the chess pieces long before Seiya was born

I personally think this is the turning point. The characters are less and less in their own world now. The opening shows almost all the Bronze Saints traveling to Sanctuary clearly knowing that something bad is about to happen. In the same vain that Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire was the turning point for that series into something much darker, this is the turning point for Saint Seiya, Poseidon barely had time to prepare for the Holy War, but Hades was ready from the get go.
1:13 This one right here is, in my humble opinion, the best part of all opening history. Yeah, not just Japanese shows, I mean all openings, ever. They could have shown a picture of her, some kind of flashback or something, but no, they went the cool way, the subtle way. For someone who went through hell and still holds on to that little piece of heaven up to this day. In fact, this whole opening... it's elegant, it's been a long way and we still remember the old days and they still matter, how many shows can say this after so many seasons?

Yup the best intro ever. All of them know about Battle and they move on. Seiya does a fake "bye bye" to the orphanage children. Shiryu try to be kind with shurei hiding the upxoming Battle. Hyoga are giving the last greeting to his mother, shun are crying know that he will see again his Brother, that mean battles, and ikki Is the most straigh forward , give the "last" Lei to Esmeralda s tomb and move to Battle already with his armor. The last call to Battle to people who don t want to fight but they have to do.

It breaks my heart that they never uploaded this season to Netflix and then removed the entire original series. It's my comfort show. My mother was born in 1981. She watched the anime from the very beggining when it was aired. At the time she couldn't buy the mangas, so she could only imagine how the Hades Chapter would be. That until 2002 where she watched alongside my father and later on showing the anime to me around 2008 when I was after some fighting game. She showed me a DVD with the firts 6 episodes of Hades: Sanctuary and the Opening got stuck in my mind. Me and my mother rewatch the anime from time to time. Even now we're at the beggining of Poseidon Chapter.
It sucks that Netflix never dubbed and localized the HD version of this. I had a hard time finding this with english subtitles. Best arc, plot, and ending in the series.
