  • Quite a few old interesting things in Frederick. First is an old what I assume to be a GE incandescent streetlight. I do not know if there are any others like this one still up in Frederick, but it is certainly a rarity to see one of these lights up still.
The most interesting of the antique shop items was the GE electric chime clock, as I have not seen too many of these on the internet, and they are notable for their strangely designed C-frame shaded pole motors.
Then there is the mystery siren on United Steam Company #3. While I thought this was a single-head Sterling siren all the way up until I edited this video, I see now that it is in fact not a Sterling, and haven't seen another siren like this anywhere else. It was most likely made by a small company in or before the 1950s who were imitating Sterling's designs for their sirens.
Lastly is the horn on Brewers Alley, which I only assume is a Cunningham horn, and I cannot find what it was used for.

The siren you showed in the video is a Federal "Type Mach. B", manufactured by a company called "Federal Sign Systems", or Federal Electric Company (now known as Federal Signal).
It is a slightly older design than the M, the style you documented being made between 1917 and 1922.
These have really tiny fans with tiny vanes and have a rather pathetic sound output, and they didn't make an insane amount of sales in their day. Or if they did, they all got swapped out pretty early, making it a fairly rare find nowadays.
That one is missing the impeller though, rendering it completely inoperable.
