- Being one the most iconic car in the racing game history, thanks to Gran Turismo, the Escudo has a long story behind its development, that traces its roots back in the 90s when the legendary japanese driver Nobuhiro Tajima was nothing more than just a rising star.
They will soon became the "Monsters" of Pikes Peak, marking the history of the whole event and ultimately becoming a legend of the motorsport internetionally.

THE ESCUDO IS RETURNING TO GT7. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. I REPEAT. THIS IS NOT A DRILL
cant wait tbh
And we don't get the track
That's why I'm watching this video rn lol
I'm loving it...fuck the tomahawk :)

it did but then they covered it with ash-fault

Me at first: "Awww hell yeah gran turismo sick car"
Me at the end: "I will follow my dreams"

I love this car because of Gran Turismo ❤❤
7 years old when GT2 came out, 30 now, Still goosebumps seeing it again
have you played gt7 ?
I would turn it into a rocket with a glitch and grind maps I could wall run on. 20,000hp.😳 Good times.
I put so much time into tuning it for road racing. It always just got faster and faster.
35 now, watching the video showing its decline in the games is quite sad, still, my mate made the car take off in a race, literally downforced the outta the rear and sure enough it took off 😂
Car was a cheat code
2:48 Damn i felt that.
:(((((
That was painful to watch
i was looking for this comment,feelsbadman :((
When the East City theme played, goosebumps literally came out of me! #nostalgia
I forgot what is sounded like, but instantly recognized it. Goosebumps.
I still play that song often when I'm chilling at home.
Damn i didn't know how special the Suzuki escudo in real life. now im appreciating this car more than before
I was 13 in 1998, so Gran Turismo 2 was a critical part of my childhood. Many many nights of playing late into the morning. Love learning the history of the real car.
I remember being 8 years old using this car in GT2
You are a very good story teller. I very much enjoy these videos and hope more people discover them soon.
You brighten up my day, thank you so much! :D
I agree! Very eloquently spoken too.
I remember playing GT2 in high school. The Suzuki was one of my favorites. There was actually a funny design bug in the game that worked with Escudo and a few of the other high performance race cars. If you tweaked around with the downforce settings (depending on the specific car) on the track the entire front of the car would lift up and the car would have a huge burst of speed. You could go well past 300MPH. This fun little bug and only worked with a few of the games cars.
This car will be comming in GT7 in the next update
done right, you could get over 1k mph at the test track.
My friends and i spent hours seeing who get it to go faster by playing with tune. I dont remember what we made it to but well over 300.
you can make it fly if you mess with the gear raito as well lol
One of my favorite “mods”
GT2 is what turned me into a gear head. I remember deciding to learn how to drive it properly and staying up all night winning an endurance race. I will NEVER forget the Escudo, it was the first time I'd ever seen it and this video was really fun since I never really knew the history of it.
This car goes from 200 HP to 800 HP in less than a second, at 4500 rpm.
Only car in the game with such massive turbo lag!
I remember the glitch that allowed the escudo to go over 1k mph by popping a wheelie. Ridiculously fun watching it hit the wall and fly in the air.
this was put together very well an explained very well, thanks for the work you put in, also the old gran turismo history.
Thank you so much! Yes, definitely the Escudo marked Gran Turismo history.
That "East City" theme, is pretty sure the best GT song ever!!!!
Perhaps even better than Moon over the castle!
Oooooh that's a difficult argument, i love everyone of them, can't seriously choose lol
I used to use the escudo on the hi speed ring endurance race and tape the gas button down, leave get lunch, chill, come back to the game in first place with a boat load of prize money
I used the same strategy as a kid ahahahahaha, glad to hear i wasn't the only one
2:47 I keep watching that denied handshake.....
I might say that handshake got me aswell :(((
I had to scroll down too far to find someone who also found that hilarious lmfao
The game and car stuck with me so much, I just wanted to go up the mountain. I didn’t know there was a gate, and on a 20 hour road trip I missed it by a mere 20 min. Sad but still surreal to even be at the base. The way games change your life.
Did you know google maps says it’s about 50 min for normal traffic to reach the summit. That makes it insane for even a slow 15 min race is just amazing.
Really glad you paid respects to both Monsters.
after the announcement of the car returning to gt7, and despite i don't have a ps5, i'm glad to know about the story behind this car. a monster with a driver whose nickname is intimidating yet is a wholesome man. thank you so much, your presentation is truly something wonderful.
Thank you for this beautiful comment aswell! :)
This channel deserves multi million subscribers, the story line the music everything is worth every seconds, much love PROJECT DREAM
Gran Turismo 2. The ultimate beast to win every race.
I remember as a kid i used to grind money repeating the All Star Red Rock Valley Race, to win the Speed 12 and get half a milion credits after selling it.
I repeated that race so many times that i started to speedrunning it with the Escudo, and was literally amazed by how fast that car could go with setup and super soft tyres.
If i'm not mistaken i managed to make a lap under 50 seconds lol
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA I don't think a lot of the races were hard locked to classes either. I rode the escudo and R34 every race possible.
motorsport history is really nice when someone explains it properly like you do.
Thaaaaank YOU SO MUCH SERIOUSLY! These words brighten up ours day! :))
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA you're welcome ;)
This brought back memories of my childhood! I loved the Escudo and it was super cheat mode when using it for most races. Tajima is still killing it at 70 years old too! Love your videos, i just finished my Pike's Peak Hillclimb video myself, which I couldn't make without this car!
Amazing job on putting the video together. Then music, the editing was 👌🏼
Just found your channel out of curiosity about the escudo from gran turismo 2. Totally subscribed
Thank you so much!
The only way I could win in GT2 when I was a kid was picking this and driving it flat out into every wall. You could still win easily. I didn't understand braking zones or racing lines. Great video.
Gran turismo 2 nostalgia right here
This kinda puts a tear in my eye because the '98 Pikes Peak Escudo is absent from Gran Turismo 7.
I hope they release it in a future DLC- it is a cornerstone of Gran Turismo's car culture.
No it isnt it will come at the next updates in GT7😉Believe me or not you will see it at the next 1-2 updates!Dont question me where i got that Information from😌
Check out the GT7 now, the Escudo WILL be on the June 2022 update!
already here
Man, I love this ridge racer type 4 aesthetic you're using at the end.
forsureeee!!! I watched my brother play Gran Turismo! Told him to get that car!!!
With the GT music is more intense 🤩
Insane, I thought you had way more subscribers until I actually checked after the video ended. Superb editing and good story telling. I'd love more videos like these about the special cars (like the F1 Renault) and maybe even the history of tracks featured in the gran turismo games (like Fuji Speedway, Suzuka Circuit). Looking forward to it!
For real, thank you so much! These are probably the kind of comments which motivates us to keep making video! :D
Actually we are already planning to make some contents about special cars and tracks. The idea is to cover as many arguments as possible from the world of motorsport, simracing and racing games like Gran Turismo! There is still a lot to develop from this point of view, but we are plenty of time to do so.
P.S. little spoiler here, the very next video is going to be about another special car still from the Gran Turismo universe ;)
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA if I might add a little more support, RUclips shorts are probably the best way to get more traction to your channel, for example to make a one minute preview (maybe consisting of a interesting fact about the subject) and then saying at the end of the preview that if you would like to hear more then check out the channel and watch the full video. Perhaps you know better and you already have a plan but I hope my idea can help boost your viewership because it definitely deserves it!
An example would be like
"The Amuse Carbon R34 is an R34 tuned by Japanese tuning company Powerhouse Amuse, the body is completely made of carbon fibre Weighing in at 1,123 kg with 601 BHP. If you would like to hear more about this car then check out the channel for the full video"
To be honest we've been evaluating #shorts for a long while: The idea was to create completely detached contents based on smaller arguments, with just a quick editing and storytelling, nothing too aggressive or challenging. We are still considering the thing right now.
Your idea either is not that bad, we wanted to make something similar on social networks for example or in the community tab (in the future, as we haven't activated still none of them), rather than with the shorts tab, but still this is a good starting point from you, and i'm gratuful for it!
Still a long time to maximize the efficiency of the channel, after all we are just a small group of 4 guys with jobs and university to take care of, but yeah we are totally looking to improve what we are doing here in this platform! Thank you anyway again for the support (and for hearing my words (video editor replying here)) ;)
I dont think that there are much exciting info about that f1 renault espace, its an espace with an f1 engine and... thats it :D It was only a show car

I don’t think so
I don't play any of the Gran Turismo games. Even I'm not into any racing games. But when my friend played GT on the PS and said to me that he had the fastest car in the game, which is of course the Escudo, that name still in my memory til today.
Great the video, the car is gonna return to GT7 now!!

yo, sorry the videomaker just had an attack because of the Escudo news and the extreme happiness, i am his friend, you can speak with me now
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA XDDDD
I was like that in this morning!
I remember the Escudo Pikes Peak! I thought it was the craziest car in the game. It was really expensive and my buddy and I calculated out the races we could do, how fast we could do them, and how much we got for winning them. We determined the fastest way to win the most amount of money, and would rotate playing until we finally had enough money to buy it. It was glorious! Back then GT didn't have a lot of realistic data on the cars per se, which they obviously added with each game after that. That's why it didn't work as well in later games. But man, seeing it again brings back memories!
I remember back then when I play Turbo races and win HKS R33 Drag. Win ten times and sell the HKS, and but that Escudo.
Love your videos man! They bring back so many good childhood memories Keep up the great work!
Brings back so many childhood memories of Gran Turismo 2.
I put so many miles on that Suzuki Escudo in the game that it’s really heart warming to learn about it’s history in real life!
I did not expected that suzuki can make a race car/rally car
Gotta love the GT2 soundtrack in the background . Ahhh brings back sooo much good memories
My dream is to drive my own replica 86 Audi Quattro s1 up piles peak. Not to win, but to show the majesty of that car flying up that hill one more time.
gosebumps for the story and the brilliant way it is told, thank you so much for the effort!
Thank you aswell for the support! :)
An amazing story behind a crazy and unique car, makes me appreciate it all the more.
Thank you!
I love the jazz under the narration. Its perfect. Watching those beautiful instruments of violence carve up that mountain??? Oh yeah. Its perfect.
With the background music of Gran Turismo, nice! Nostalgia ❤
Wonderful story about this iconic car... GT2 must have car
Found you today. Watched all you have out. Great work. Good edits. Solid footage. Your voice is great. Your accent adds to it. Good script. Nice. Keep it up.
Finally !! a well deserved documentary for Escudo 🏁🚘.
Thank you! :))
I was looking for the history of this escudo car, n I found it 👍
I loved that game and to this day STILL own it as well as a memory card with 90% completion. Just had a couple endurance races left!!!!
This thing was so broken in GT2. I remember it was so damn fast that it would pop wheelies at its top speed
Didn't know about the wheelie in GT2. I remember it in Gran Turismo 3, but GT2 is kinda new to me. Nice to learn new things about Gran Turismo!
It was actually physics bug that the first GT had as well. With certain very high performance race cars you could tweak the down force settings it it made the car entire front end lift up and also get a huge surge in speed.
They fixed those physics bugs in GT3.
I remember the grind you had to go through to get it. 300 laps IIRC
Keep it up dude! Very underrated channel :)
Thank you for the support! You bet we'll keep it up! :D
That Gran Turismo East City sound hits, goose bumps all the way 1:51 holy ghost
2:48 🤣
Made me happy watching this…this car made me love the game…awesome story
I came here for some Gran Turismo nostalgia and got a great video and story. Thank you! :)
Bro the Escudo is comming back in GT7😉 I am sure it will come in the next update
The GT2 music.... Ah the nostalgia. Makes me so happy.
Excellent production quality.
Thank you! :)
Honestly this car was all over my childhood but one car that didn’t get attention that I liked more was the cultus
The escudo will forever be the absolute legend love the east city music there from gt2, still my most favorite game ever
I used to do endurance races on circular tracks. With this car it rides the wall at 215 mph. Use rubber bands to hold down the acceleration then use another rubber band to hold the analog sticks so its rides the wall. Youll win every time and can farm money and cars.
I remember how fast that car was in Gran Turismo 2
a class of its own
you bring me sweet memories!
I love your vídeos, best "documentary" racing there is in the perfect amount of time
Beautiful video and perfect narration.kudos !
Such a high class video. Thanks.
Thanks for making this video
i love that u used actual gran turismo menu soundtrack, so much nostalgia lol
Excellent video! The Escudo is imo the coolest car in the world. Imagine driving it on the streets.
And Tajima is a hero of mine since I learned of the pilot of the mighty Escudo when I was a boy.
Keep making great videos! Awesome channel!
At 2:49 a crushed soul has been born
Thanks you gor thoses good memories, nice video, good pace
I miss having Suzuki here in the USA
i always thought that suzuki escudo at Pikes Peak has the weirdest design I've ever seen, as weird as a monster and that car IS really a monster. what's more? the driver, Tajima also known as a "monster".
overall it's literally a monster at Pikes Peak back then, and i really love that car.
My absolute favourite Car in Gran turismo. That music gave me goosebumps EVERYWHERE
This is just one of the most awesome cars ever made.
The escudo is my unicorn fable creature with the horn impossible to capture🏎️🔥
Fantastic video, had a glass of wine while watching this. And you kept that Gran Turismo lounge music, lovely to hear. Legend of a car!
P.S the Ridge Racer type 4 aesthetic at the end
Ahahahahaha thank you, loved so much Ridge Racer Type 4 aesthetic that i decided to use it for this channel ;)
GT2!!! We share so many memmories man, thanks for this movie!
Fantastic !!!!!
Amazing mini documentary! Looking forward to more!

Cultus and Escudo was my two faves. Third place was Ford GT40 🤩

Amazing car and story! Thank you!
Cheers from Portugal
Watched your Euthasia video game and Delta Wing videos this morning. I then immediately subscribed. I'm shocked this channel doesn't have more subscribers.
I love the jazz in the background
I first played gran turismo whe 3 came out for ps2 I lost an entire summer to that game lol. this car was incredibly fast the front tires would lift of the track
Me too, the tune was insane and on the oval it would ride the outside wall on corners after understeering on turn in 🤣
Still have my ps2 and the game but need a new controller or a proper seat with mounting for my Logitech steering wheel and pedals, I never upgraded the system or game and at 51 still love having a thrash around in all the different cars
Wasn't ready for my eyes to be that sweaty at the end... Thanks man, great video, I'm subscribing right now ^_^
Thank you so much! That last song is one of my favourite GT OST aswell!
GT7 this back !
in GT4 this car absolutely RIPPED the quarter mile
I used to play this game so much as a kid, I mean hours straight doing the same course just time attack shaving milliseconds each time. I drilled holes in my controller to help desweat my hands when I was playing for hours straight at a time
Damn that's some serious resilience here! It remembers me of the time i used to make time attacks on GT Sport, 1-2 years ago!
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA yes then I grew up tried to do racing in real life. Spent $130k on cars and tools in the past 15 years. Realized this hobby is only fun for filthy rich people. Went back to playing video games 😂 and watching this video haha thanks
@@latenttweet Well at least it was a great experience! Am i right?
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA amen an education is expensive but I learned a lot. Feel bad for my older friends who are just getting into it and have to go through all the same mistakes.
You should have mentioned, what to me adds up to amazment of Escudo, that Escudo in normal version is an 100% off roader. Unlike other rally cars which are in normal version street cars, Escudo is a slow off roader. I own the european version, the Vitara, and that car is slooow but really really capable off road car. When I first found out about this version, I was amazed how they managed to make a fast racing car out of the skeleton of Escudo/Vitara.
That's one curious thing i've never thought about to be honest. Really interesting stuff, thanks!
The music was so perfect!
i don't believe that u only have 3k subs, i thoight u'd have 3M
wish u the best, ur a good story teller
Thank you so much!
Whole reason why there’s 3 Suzuki’s in my driveway.
Every GT player should know that one video where someone breaks the sound barrier with this car, by glitching out of the map.
This is amazing o.o ❤
