Kazuha is a wandering samurai. It's only natural for him to pick things up from cultures he comes into contact with. His outfit is lore accurate. And culturally appropriate. Also. him not being covered in scars despite not being heavily armored is a testament to his skill and ability. He did stop an attack from raiden shogun afterall.

Samurais in Japanese culture wear armours and guards around their body. Even if Kazuha is skilled, him wearing an armour on the right side and not his left side is honestly almost parallel to "mocking" Japanese culture. No one, and I mean NO ONE, wears their kimono that way. And even if Kazuha really be strong, they should've balanced both sides. And the only reason why he managed to stop an attack from the Raiden Shogun is because of Tomo's vision, which again, screams plot armour. Realistically Kazuha could've died from that scene. Raiden's electro should've affected him at the very least. And also I did create another design for Kazuha so he's not wearing his armour
I highly recommend you to search "wandering samurai" from other games, or "Japanese samurai" online. You will realize the problems and flaws within the character designs if you compare it with other games. I genuinely think Final Fantasy did it so much better. Again, if you only play Genshin impact and Genshin impact only, you wouldn't realize the issue. I didn't realize this issue and thought he was fine until I studied his clothing. I genuinely thought Kazuha was wearing those half kimonos that expose one side of your body but that's not the case. And please do enlighten me, how is Kazuha culturally appropriate when he stuffs half of his kimono into his obi? No one in Japan has done it before. And why would they do that anyway? It's disrespectful.

While it is true that Genshin designs aren't exactly sublime (and could use more melanin between other things), I think we're all getting a bit too into "cultural accuracy". Fantasy is not ment to represent anyone, it's suppose to be fantasy.. So while it does draw from familiar things, it's not supposed to be accurate in any way, nor follow specific rules. That's the fun thing about fantasy. Mixing and matching, reimagining. That's literally what makes us human.
one of the designs that always bothered me was Hu tao's because the outfit details just stop at the bottom half and its so odd just like characters with similar designs (xingqiu and yes furina is a bit weird to me for the same reason too lol, etc) and the knights of favonious npcs look like knights cuz they do have armor unlike the playable characters from there! As for kazuha its funny to me as you mentioned how he "should" look like it reminded me of the inazuma enemy ronin you fight, I think they look more "samurai" than the playable inazuma chars lol.
Objectively great design for Kazuha. I know that gacha games must make him handsome and cute, but you made him handsome in a whole another way. He is supposed to be a ronin, and a rebel at that. At minimum he should look like Sekiro, at most a very heavily armored samurai.
I think the red is fine honestly. I think they wanted him to have a more monochromic colour palette. Honestly though if there's no explanation as to why they intentionally chose red that'll be pretty sad

I actually really like hu tao! She has symbolysm, and for the worse deisgns of earlier genshin, she and yoimiya and still some of my favorites ever
