    I’d think you definitely want a spare tire for Alaska. Just a note, when I bought a spare tire for our class C, which is a Ford chassis, it was about a third of the price to buy the rim from Discount Tire than to get it from Ford.

    • @oureverydaygetaway
      @oureverydaygetaway  2 месяца назад +1

      @@oureverydaygetawayI am from BC and know Northern BC well. We went into Alaska last June, and yes the roads aren’t great but then your no travelling at interstate speeds so you can avoid a lot of holes. Myself or my brother never had tire issues, but we do know very well so we both packed 2 spares. Tire shops are far few in between, and if you find a tire shop will they have your tire size. Pack a tire and if you can a jersey can of fuel, maps may say 50 miles to go. But they dont say 3 hrs to go 50miles…. Just go slow and be ready for some rock chips and mosquitos!!!

    I had a couple uncles that passed away when they were young from carbon monoxide in a camper. It’s been probably 50 years so it’s been a long time. They didn’t have those alarms in those days. Bees had made a hive in the ventilation system, they were running the heat at night it was in November in Michigan so heat was needed. Thank God for these alarms, good idea to have a back up. Not trying to scare you guys at all. They have all the failsafes these days. They were 13 and 17 both in high school.i was really young like 4 or 5 years old. I’m 56 now so. The alaska trip is an awesome trip. We went there last summer with one other couple, we did take an extra spare tire but didn't need either one. Liard Springs was nice. Just be aware of the alcan hwy between Congdon Creek government camp and tok river state rec.area which we stayed at both places. Our gps said 4 and 1/2 hrs. It took us almost 8 hrs due to the road was so rough we could only go 15 to 20 miles an hr. Fyi, we liked Jasper more than Banff. As Jasper was a lot less crowded plus athabasca glacier and falls were great. Safe travels and enjoy your trip. Love watching your videos

    I have to tell you, we had our dog, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, set off our CO detector in our travel trailer in the middle of the night one time. I can't believe someone else had this happen as well. And, yes, it was due to her laying her butt up against it and she did fart!!! We woke up from a sound sleep thinking there was a fire or we were dying of CO poisoning. Until, we got to the area of the CO detector with the dog freaking out and got a wiff!!! Hi guys! We live in Alaska and are awaiting your arrival! It will be quite the trip. Not many fancy campgrounds up here. Web drove to Ak when we moved up here but didn't do any camping. Had everything we owned in a 24ft car trailer. We have been watching your channel for a while and enjoy it. We also have a Tucker but he's a Rhodesian Ridgeback along with his brother Riley. Be glad to meet for dinner and a brew. We are planning on going full time RVing in July when we retire.

    I know everyone has their own opinion but we have a Buddy Heater and we have used it several times. Last year we went on a long trip up to North Dakota, Glacier NP, etc. it saved us from freezing at the places with no electricity. We of course have a CO2 detector and my husband watched a few videos on the safety of the buddy heaters. If you get cold enough, you might be wanting to use it!😉 Can’t wait to see your adventures in Alaska!! Also, a spare is a must!👍🏽

    We did the trip with our 43ft 5er. Went with 2 spare rv tires (not used) buddy heater worked outstanding with a 20lb external tank. 400w solar and 2 100w lithium batteries. Once in Alaska you can camp on the side of the road. In Canada, it is illegal to do so however with weather as a consideration we had no issue for one night. There are plenty of parks.

    • @oureverydaygetaway
      @oureverydaygetaway  Месяц назад

      We plan on staying at rv parks/campgrounds every 4-5 days so we can shower, wash clothes and tanks. The rest of the time will be boondocking. We have reservations while in Canada so everything should be alright. Fingers crossed. Dealing with a few unforeseen issues at the moment. Take care and thanks for the advice. We very much appreciate it.

    You guys are great planners. We are going this year also and plan on crossing into Canada from Montana mid May. We have no plans no reservations just going to go for it.
    Crazy, right?

      I don't know about great planners but thank you. Sounds like the same time we're going to cross. Maybe we'll see you on the road. 😊 I "Katrina" like to travel with no reservations. It makes it so much more of an adventure. Safe travels and enjoy your journey.
