    thank you for sharing your talent. I have been interested all my life with creating in clay, I'm 61 years young, but have felt overwhelmed to the point of even attempting to start any project involving clay. watching this video as well as quite a few of your others and now feel confident enough to give it a try. I've even gone out and purchased a couple of packs of sculpy! thought I'd give the cat face on the rock a try. you are a wonderful teacher! you certainly instill confidence. tys your gift with others.

      Thank you so much for your comment. Yes! Give it a try. You will be able to do it - just give yourself some patience and practice and get your hands used to sculpting the clay. Thank you again. -Jake :-)

    I appreciate that you talk and teach through this video. I’m not even done watching. But I had to say that . I’ll try Marblex . Looks as malleable as modeling clay . Some air dry clays are crumbly . I’m dying to make a clay tree . Gonna be fun . Thank you 😊

    Hello Jake,
    I’m new at working with the air dry clay. I started just to get my artistic creativity going. I find this meditating also. I started making planters and added different things because it felt boring. I started watching your videos on the dog and then the fairy tree. I appreciate all the things you make. I have six grandchildren and I’m going to start making them some fun animals. I think I’ll start with your Owls you did. Thank you for all your videos. I really enjoyed everyone that I’ve watched. I love all your tips as well. Like what type of clay to buy and does well. Bless ya
    TJW

    I'm surprised you don't use armature with wire or tin foil. Is it sturdy this way or will it be more prone to shatter without anything in there

    • @TheJakefolger
      @TheJakefolger  2 года назад

      I recommend using Marblex clay which is very hard and durable when it dries. However, Marblex and most air dry clay shrinks when it dries so if you use an armature, the clay will crack when it dries. Note: Any kind of sculpture should be considered fragile. Thanks for your comment. -Jake

    Do you need to use an armature or can you use an armature it looks like it would make it more stable? I generally use Polymer Clay?,

    • @TheJakefolger
      @TheJakefolger  3 года назад +1

      Using an armature with air dry or self hardening clay is a problem because this kind of clay shrinks when it dries - and the armature will not shrink - the clay could crack and fall apart if it is sculpted over an armature. I hope this helps. -Jake

    • @TheJakefolger

      No, it won't crack. Just carefully follow my instructions and use the clay I recommend: Marblex Self Hardening Clay Made by Amaco. You can get it at this online store: www.DickBlick.com/ It will be okay. I promise. Just let me know if you need any extra help. -Jake
