I don’t think I’ve ever watched or listened to a conversation that has given me so much to think about. I will need a real pen, and real piece of paper, and go through again, making notes. Thank you to both of you, brilliant.

Best one yet!! Loved this podcast. So much to learn - much head nodding and recognising patterns - good and bad. My gym is non-negotiable - it's in the diary and everyone knows it. The stuff about children was also relatable and true. Off to buy the book! More from Nir Eyal please!

I got the email notice about this show in my inbox, so I clicked on it. While that was loading in a different tab I saw another email that someone on my friend's list was having a birthday so I went to FB to wish them a happy day...then got distracted for 20min on FB, forgetting I was going to watch this podcast! Lol! All your podcasts are relevant...this one will be particularly so! Thanks for the amazing guests and info you're sharing on a regular basis.

I did a combo view of the RUclips and podcast. Interesting perspective compared to some other guests about devices. Balance as always is the key. I used multiple platforms to be able to listen and/or view the conversation, but adapted it around what else I needed to do, such as commute to work and actually do some household chores. I do like the traction/distraction contrast and will definitely use it as I evaluate activities or impulses. I did have some concerns about scheduling “everything” when spontaneity in relationships is also important - telling the other person, hey, I know I have this thing to do, but you know what, you’re more important so I’m chucking the schedule and making you my priority right now. Thoughts on how to balance structure and spontaneity? Love the books and other media platforms. Thanks for making a difference in the lives of so many.

Dr. Gabor Mate talked about the importance of devoping good relationship between parent and child.
Telling your kids to not interrupt you when you are with your friends is going to lead to rebellious children who desperately clings onto the approval of their peers. This is not a good direction. I dont do that and am always a good uncle to my friends' kids.
"The best protection for a child, even through adolescense, is a strong attachment to an adult .. The most impressive study of these adolescense involves 90 000 adolescense.. teenagers with strong parent attachments were much less likely to exhibit drug and alcohol problems, far less likely to attempt suicide, or engage in violent behavior or early sexual activity" Gabor Mate

The kids have each other while the adults are visiting. He's not recommending leaving a single child unconnected.

Just a thought: given that we have been habitually told during our lives that stress is bad. Stress is a sign of weakness. Don’t be stressed. Could it be that we have misinterpreted the stress response that is designed to physically move us to action as anxiety and due to our psychological need to suppress the sensation, in simple terms, we have a build up of energy that we are refusing to release which is in turn is increasing our anxiety.

how to deliver the message is just as important as the message itself. Mr. Eyal, please slow down! pause, take a tender breath, lower you voice, relax your shoulder, face, shoulder and what about a smile, humor?
these are essential for the listener to learn, to ponder, to absorb, it takes time. slowing down our speech, our breath creates as science call it ‘coherence’ of heart and mind.

Am I the only one who sees the irony that the man who is dubbed “the prophet of Habit Forming Tech” ie finding ways to get people Hooked on tech, now is supposedly teaching us how to not be as “hooked”. Nothing of what he says is new or insightful BUT how sad that we all need to be reminded. And how smart of him that he is making money on both sides.

Hi Dr Chatterjee! I found this guy who created Marley's mutts in California and the reason I found him as he rescued this dog I'll tell you about the dog in the moment but what I learned later is he needed a liver transplant he was going to die and he showed you a video where startling he looks like a different person than he does in the video healthy man with the pitbull named Courage. He also had problems with alcohol I believe in drugs and that his lowest points he was always surrounded by dogs that loved him unconditionally so he returns the favor finding the dogs in the worst imaginable condition. Would be awesome if you interviewed him. He also does a prison program that's amazing and that means a lot to me because the people that broke was in my case have no remorse they don't seem to be capable of empathy so it's amazing to see people that do you own up and do you want to change their lives.
I've never had a dog but if I could adopt one it would be Courage. He looks like a Michael Vick pitbull wall-to-wall scars and his tongue is missing clearly ripped out. His true nature is so sweet he's just the sweetest gentle loving dog so despite all the cruelty and even starvation when he was turned in he was half his body weight his nature is that of goodness and sweetness and I wish I could adopt him if I ever was going to adopt a dog I would adopt him.His true nature is so sweet he's just the sweetest gentle loving dog so despite all the cruelty and even starvation when he was turned in he was half his body weight his nature is that of goodness and sweetness and I wish I could adopt him if I ever was going to adopt a dog I would adopt him.
I'm still here in Brooklyn pandemic mode and I've lost 45 pounds as I continue to eat whole food plant-based oil free. Thank you for always trying to help people and I wish I could see everyone of your TV shows where you visit people in their homes I love that that's how I found you on RUclips but RUclips doesn't have the entire series I love it I think you're fantastic and I love how gentle but firm you were with the families and you really reach them!
It's hard for me to focus I just watch little pieces or listen to a little bit of the podcast but I have your books and all the best to you and your loved ones.
