- Ghost town Rodney - A cannonball, from the Civil War lodges in the exterior wall. Once considered to be the capital of Mississippi, today is partially submersed in swamp waters. Old abandoned homes and skeleton stores litter the dirt road. Only in Mississippi. Follow daily postings on Facebook, Instagram and our website - 48statesin48months.net
That train car was brought down from Chicago rail yards in 1979 by my grandfather and great uncle and converted into a deer camp.
My great grandfather bought the land in the 1950’s and the house next to the train car is the old camp house. I’ve spent hundreds and hundreds of nights in the train car and in the old house.
Rodney is a very very special place if you can find it.
We would even have thanksgiving lunch every year at the camp house.
Some of my fondest memories were made right there
I took the Family to Rodney's Church in 1983. We saw a few inhabited houses, a total of 3. The River was at normal stage.
Me and my sister drove through Rodney being from Mississippi ourselves Rodney is truly a spooky ghost 👻 town we didn't stop not once just through
Thank you for going places that I will not go. I really enjoyed your journey.
Very cool! Was hoping you were going to see what was written on that paper resting on the table with the deer head.
I live in Vicksburg. When I was young I knew an old man that was from Rodney. He would tell stories of what life was like there.
THIS IS AMAZING. GREAT VIEW. THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS VIDEO,

Excellent video! thumbs up and a new subscriber here. Keep up the great work!
No dust, no cobwebs, but a vacuum cleaner? What does that tell you?
That house is a hunting camp. I’ve been to Rodney many times. Basically he just walked into a place and thankfully, he walked out. Had he been caught in there lord only knows what would have happened.
Really cool! Thanks for sharing!
If I had the opportunity I would also explore.
awesome find.
Born and raised in Mississippi. This just looks like a lot of deer camps in Ms.🤷♀️
That is still someone’s weekender.
He broke into someone's private property😅
Nice video.
Looks like somebody's deer camp at one time.
Still is a deer camp. I go there often and basically what he did was trespassed into someone’s property
Boo, I’ve been creeped out here and there, it’s crazy!!
I've always wanted to go to Mississippi. If I could go back in time I would go to Mississippi during segregation. Only because I need to feel the climate of the day. Reading and watching documentary about it just doesn't cut it sometimes.
Well you are feeling some of it now racism is still alive.
as someone who lives in Mississippi a lot of the places look like they're snapshots from the past like time hasn't passed at all, whether that's good or not it's up to your own beliefs
Black racism dominates today. You were safer back in the day. Now Kunta is killing us in mass, but not l, because l an packing Kinte'.
That there wood burning stove would withstand a Nuclear Blast, they work well, never had one, perhaps one fine day!!good stuff, be careful out there!!
Someone is using it for a hunting camp🙄
Dudes crazy. People out there would rob you and then fed your body to the gators and nobody would ever find you
I live in Mississippi, but I never heard of a town called Rodney!
@Teenie J I live in Mississippi and have never heard of Rodney either 🤦🤦
Same here, I've just stumbled upon this tonight.
That depot was somebody's house!!!
It looks to me as though that cabin is used by visitors at times.
Looks like your going into somebody's house.
Just seeing the cannonball fired into the church shows how heartless the union was when they came down here!
You probally just broke in someones house.
Im thinking the same thing! It looks like someone currently lives there.
It’s a deer camp. It’s still used to this day. He needs to be more careful just walking into places like that
Me and some friends went there around October I want to say about two years ago at night and the deer there have so little human interaction they’ll stand in the middle of thst dirt road you have to go down and just stair at your car
Private property mate , keep your head down..
Where are the people.
