This amazing band had a huge influence on me. First lp of them i got was "best before" and it was like a revelation, still in my first steps into punk and having an itchy to start a band. Anyway from their documentary i keep on finding out the overall huge influence David Bowie had on all of us .
James NotBond true, and crass wouldnt want to be on radio because of how much they hate government and illuminati. They want to be there own band not singned on record deal like sex pistols

MAN oh man we need a band like Crass and a song like this now more than ever!! "Fuck 'em! Chosen to make my stand/ Against what I feel is wrong with this land/ Just sit there on their rather fit ass/ Feeding off the sweat of less fortunate class." This line more than ever reflects the pathetically greedy, capitalistic state that this country is in today. This kind of content is what should be motivating our songwriters today, and not subjects like money, sex, hot bodies, and cars. :p
I think these guys are way underrated as musicians. They have some weird ass chord progressions and time signatures. The drummer is excellent. The music is like some techincal King Crimson shit.
And like king crimson, their existence also shaped the entire genre they belong to. King Crimson shaped prog rock and almost any prog rock band has loads of influence from them. Crass shaped punk and grind as we know it and there would be no anarcho without crass
Seen them about 5 times at Trucks, a punk club in wigan with poison girls & Honey Bane had some great nights in that place getting covered in spit & beer 😅 but atmosphere was amazing still have a couple of album's, stations of the crass & feeding of the Five Thousand best memories ever 🙂
I think playing music that sounds weird is actually pretty hard. Regardless of what you are playing the difficult part is hearing the music in a way that you can push out and in this case I think it would be hard for a lot of bands no matter their technique to be able to hear this music, hence why they have a cool original sound.
This is one of those bands that no one I know has even heard of, but damned if they didn't rock out when I played a cover of it for the local punk shows.
@samthomasmusic Both styles of music have their own feelings, but hip hop and punk have a lot in common and they happen to be the two genres I listen to most, along with subgenres of both like crust.
0:26 "Fuck em"
I love that part
and the "good" gang vocals at the end is perfect. what a tune
"A fucked up reality based on fear..."

One of the greatest achievements of the modern power structure is keeping rap and punk artists apart in the 80's.

I've learned everything about rythm in music from this song, it's nothing but rtyhm til about 0:40 and it's great.
Crass was ahead of their time. We need another crass.
Screw D-beat... its all about that C-BEAT!!
Crass are due a revival. There must be some new bands out there using Crass as an influence - the politics, the sound, the imagery. There must be!!
When rap came out, it was categorized in the same way as punk -- "urban alternative." True story --- I was there.
