France will look even more impressive, Germany will also look better, Canada will be there too with all of their guys in prime shape. US roster will now have one hole to fill. Current talent is not very convincing as none of of the up-and-coming look as impressive as the ones now. I cannot be mad that we lost. I expected it. All I wanted was for us to not be embarrassed in this tournament and after hitting rock bottom, we went beyond what any reasonable French fan could have expected.
We gave the US hell in this game. Kept it close for the most part, but never had the accuracy to take over. And then Steph killed us at the end. It was surreal to witness it, and as a Celtics fan, I had ptsd from 2022. We double teamed him, on a court with Durant, James, Davis and Booker... and he hit that. I turned to my father and said "What are you even supposed to do against that?"
I still had moments I will cherish for the rest of my life, like the Yabusele dunk on LeBron. That was insane. Batum coming out of his final game for the French National team after giving his blood, sweat and tears one last time. A real captain to the end. Nando, who was a liability the whole tournament, rolled back the years to remind people why he is one of the greatest names in Les Bleus' history.
Congrats USA, there's no shame in losing to the best after all. It was special to see the icons of the court one last time together.

The USA's main issue isn't really what talent they send. The NBA has rules that go against playing defense like bans on hand checking and the 3 second in the paint defense rule. The NBA wants more scoring but FIBA play actually favors real defense. This is why we were hesitant to attack the paint when there were bodies or zone defense.
We also need to get guys playing together more frequentlly. The redeem team and dream team at least had the FIBA Americas to build chemistry.

Also Holiday with 38, Davis and also maybe white with 34 are too old in 2028 and also Embiid will probably not play. Europe and Canada get stronger and stronger. And without Curry, Durant and James you would have lost vs Serbia and France. This was the last match for team USA for the three best player of the century (James, Durant, Curry). Can you show me the poll stating that according to the athletes it was the worst olympic village?
It's not because you've seen 5 stories on Instagram that it represents the majority...
As for the Seine, I don't think it was the best idea, but tbf Rio wasn't any better on that aspect and lots of tri athletes have said it themselves, all year long they swim in waters that are not great quality in different events... But same here, it's like the crazy echo chamber of social media nowadays...
From my experience on the ground here, the vast majority of people (mostly foreigners) that I talked too were super happy about their experience here.
Great atmosphere, amazing looking venues, tons of people (did you see the crowd on the bike race? it had never been seen in the Olympics).

In sport newspapers and magazines, in radio and television programmes,...
And íf i have to decide between swimming in the Athlantic Coast of Rio or in the river that cross one of the biggest Metropolis of this World... no doubt about it, sorry.
I guess that you're french and it's logical to defend your statements, even more if you have the opportunity to assist to some live disciplines. Without Steph, Team USA would have gotten blown out by Serbia. Without Steph, Team USA would've lost to France. Even on the best team in the world, it is STEPHEN CURRY that is the best player in the world. He isn't elite on defence? Sure, but he EASILY makes up for it by attracting defenders that give teammates open shots. He is the GOAT, period. There is not a single player you want more on a team than WARDELL STEPHEN CURRY. Funny, how the opponents of Team USA never congratulate them during interviews, press conferences nor on social media. Instead, they talk about hypothetical scenarios, render excuses, and celebrate moral victories instead of facing the reality they were outplayed. By the time the next world cup rolls around, all these countries will have the same core players along with other levels of improvement. Meanwhile, Tean USA will have an entirely new roster and coaches. I hope the US forms a hybrid team that features American stars from Europe, the NBA and G league. Great job Team USA and the big 3. Great point.
But remember Jokic, Doncic, Wembaya. Strait out of Europe and wreaking havoc in the NBA. Just as there are many Americans in the Euroleague that are big stars there but unknown or "where are they now?" stateside.

Well, it would obviously be more challenging for them, but... FIBA basketball is the original style of the game, similar to how the NBA was 30-40 years ago.
Nowadays, the NBA is more of a spectacle that showcases the best talent, many of whom are European

Dream Team 92 were ambassadors of basketball and were behaving like that, compliant with olympic spirit. You can say that for this USA team, especially LeBron James with his aggression. His is not a goat but a bull, champion of basketball wrestling and also a champion of travelling. Refs were from USA friendly states. USA media is spreading stories of heroic players....

USA basketball survives off of talent. USA basketball aren’t a good “team” though. I hope Team USA starts sending A teams to the World Cup and plays friendlies and has camps and stuff. It’s always so evident that these guys just start playing together a month before the game.

Its actually a detriment to the rest of the world that they can't beat a team assembled in a month.

Totally agree. They should start preparing in the summer of 2026 with a camp of 30 invited players to try out for the team. The main strength of USA basketball going forward will be their depth.

Some nice basketball along the way here and there and some nice moments if we put aside anything that has to do with the organisers and their meddling with the actual basketball outcomes. Unfortunately, as a whole this made the tournament a bit of a sh1tshow really. Not the players' fault of course.

  • @spasovs4

Therible what this game has turned into. A win depends on a player that is camping on a 3pt line... No flow, no chemistry... When you look at the highlights it's mostly one player going coast to coast. LeBron is forcing it like never before - him getting MVP is a farewall gift. This thing is over. Nobody wants to watch this sh*t anymore!
