All that new stuff, ya, NO. Old stuff for me.
Good Saturday, Scotty. 😊😏
@@GarrettYarbrough🤪🤡
😅
✌🏼
I'm not interested in any turbo vehicle, Toyota or any other brand.
I wonder why there’s not a supercharger option.
I bought a 2021 Nissan Frontier it’s the last year of the old body style and the second year of the 3.8 v6 and 9 speed automatic transmission. Saved almost $5000 buying a 2021 over the 2022. I love it..
Scotty never told us why we are screwed for buying one of the trucks in this video..
Love my 24 Frontier - no turbos, no cylinder deactivation, no hybrid, and "auto start/stop" was easy to bypass. 3.8L V6 that gets 22-25 MPG for me reliably.
Amen Brother!
It's honestly probably the only good vehicle Nissan makes
I would consider it because of everything you mentioned
And.... With TRUMP stripping the EPA and all those rules you can do much more to that simple excellent engine!
Yeah i want lee to remove all the emissions nonsense. @@TRONA-CA
Titan is good too.@Argedis
All these turbo 4s instead of a v6 or v8 is huge mistake.
Wish we got the Hilux.
I agree, 100%.
Let them sit on the dealer lots.
Everything in this video was a crew cab which suggests they're basically being used as cars not trucks anyways
They fit turbos in a name of fuel efficiency and better for the environment. But then can’t get much better mpg than a non-turbo. So where’s the saving the planet in that? No, they make smaller engines with a turbo/s, because it’s cheaper to make but they still cost the buyer more. Automotive corps aren’t in business to make their customers happy, they’re in business to make low, sell high and fill the pockets of the shareholders.
Have a 2022 and a 2023 Nissan Frontier, both SV, both V6...no problems so far...one is Crew Cab, one is Extended Cab.
Everyone I know wants the V-8 back and NO turbos.
In 2023 I bought a brand new Colorado Z71 and in the first week had gear and transmission issues...stuck in park...was a lemon. Then bought my fully loaded 2023 Frontier Pro 4X....LOVE it!!!! No regrets.
Barely mentioned the Frontier Yet it's the only bare bones real truck left in the Midsize market. Pullet proof reliable no turbo to worry about. Box frame nice riding TRUCK that can do work.
Frontier is a no-go for me due to direct injection only. No port fuel injectors to keep intake valves clean.
@@TXAG81Be curious to know what manufacturers are using port injection on their engines as the sole fuel delivery...none do, they're all gdi engines now. If the engine happens to have port injection, it's only as a secondary fuel delivery system that runs at idle or more likely, at high rpm on these turbo vehicles as gdi is inefficient at high RPM so port is used to allow maximum fuel delivery at high RPM while allowing them to run higher boost in the turbo. Seriously, how do you think they're getting 310+ HP and 400+ torque out of a four banger... boost it to the max!😂🎉😂
I think more people realize that paying the same price for a new truck, as you could buy a nice 3 br 2 bath house, not too many years ago… is a total rip off… than they anticipated…
IMHO Toyota really messed up. They should have stayed with a non-turbo V8 for the tundra and offered the V6 Turbo as an option. They should have left the Tacoma as it was, they messed up.
The government gave them no choice The greenies were in charge but now they're not so the V8 might come back.
@@maureencallahan1604 Really ??? Nissan frontier 3.8 L v6…
Toyota knows the same guys who drive the turbo 4.when ut breaks they will buy another turbo 4..look around at dudes these days. They wear lady pants and shoes and like shinny things.
Toyota should have kept The V8 Tundra!!!
More & more people will complain & they’ll bring it back.
There’s already chatter that it’s coming back
That’s a no brainer
I agree
and the v6 in the tacoma.
Want happened to the "Your screwed" part???
He just meant that generally speaking, I guess?
Me thinks it's. Turbo double turbo triple turbo 4 cylinder engines 🤔🤔🤔👋
He explained it for 18 minutes.
I consider pickup capabilities such as towing and cargo the same way I consider ammo -
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
Summarize what is more important: engine. Frontier V6 NA is solid.
Thanks for the Toyota Tacoma commercial. 😂. I was more interested in the Nissan Frontier Pro 4 X, which you said very little about.
Nissan Frontier is the way to go
I’d rather have a 1950’s, 60’s, maybee even a 70’s ford or Chevy anything. With points, and a carb. Manuel trans. 15”tires.
Can be re-built with a 7/16”3/4” wrench set, two screwdrivers, and a pair of pliers. Last 30+ yrs. And no need for airbags.
Oh, and an ashtray. And Chrome bumpers. 8’ bed that you can reach into the toolbox of while standing on the ground. And a bench seat.
Sounds like you worked right out of the bed like I used to. Haul and cut lumber sure miss those days!!😳😳😳
Most people that buy trucks don't do anything with them that they couldn't have done in a Corolla.
That's why the Maverick is selling alot
That can be true. But if one already has a Corolla, why buy two?
I have a 2020 F150 5.0 Lariat. And also a 2020 4Runner. Good 👍 for years to come.
Ridgeline and Frontier here
I just wish the automakers went back to making smaller, more human-sized trucks like the good old Mazda B1300/1800 (Ford Courier, and the early Ford Ranger) series. They just keep growing and growing in size, it's ridiculous. Here in Chiang Mai, Thailand, I often see the older Toyota Hilux, occasionally even a first and second gen from the 1970s, they're still being used as the daily workhorse - they are much smaller in size than most current trucks. The older Mitsubishi L200 and Isuzu KBs are still here on the road as well, simple and practical, still going strong from the 1980s.
As an American, I wish we could get the Hilux. I don't need all this luxury crap that will just break.
They can now that Trump's in office and the green New deal is history.
As an American. If you need a truck, you work along with your truck. I need to tow over 10klbs regularly. A B2000 or a Maverick isn't a truck. I'm so sick of people buying trucks that don't need them. Do you tow daily? If not, don't buy a truck. I get it, you have money to waste. I get 10 MPG in my truck. My gals accord gets 40mpg. ......if you want to argue about safety in trucks I won't argue. Trucks are far safer to be in versus a sedan in an accident.
Those square body with extra cab for Rangers were excellent all around solid trucks! Would like to find one and rebuild it 4×4.
@@firefly9838we did...from 1979 to 1985...but people wanted stupid crap and Toyota delivered.
I'll take the naturally aspirated V6 Frontier over any of this junk and it will last at least 400 K miles.
😂
Same here, fordfrontier all daylong..
I'm on the exact same page as you
Facts my 04 frontier has 300k and it’s the supercharged 3.3
My 2011 Ridgeline still running strong with 235K miles. Sad that Honda can’t get a mention. I see more of them than others.
I used to like the Tundra, but I'll just get a 2020 Tundra
Love my 19’ Tundra. Gas hog, but reliable.
Nissan Frontier here. 2024 SV LOVE IT, traded my 2017 Ridgeline .
What didn’t you like about the Ridgeline
@@tomtripptree5079 its unibody and not a truck😂
My opinion is that the Nissan Frontier is the best midsized truck
Have a '17 Tundra...and NO plan to trade/sell for years. Might be tempted if they bring back a V8, Tundra, though....
Frontier all the way. Would go ridgeline if it could tow at least 6500 lb and had a longer bed
Right now, Nissan is the only reliable mid-size pickup manufacturer. Yep, that is how bad things have gotten, Nissan trucks and big SUVs are now considered more reliable than Toyota, and others. Honda still got the best mid-size SUVs, but they don't make a full size SUV (Pilot is mid-size, not full size).
Hate all the interiors with the tablet stuck on dash look. Much prefer the linear styles
There is nothing wrong with the twin turbo v6 in the 2025 Tundras. If you change your oil with full synthetic (and filter too every time) every 5000 miles it should last 250000 miles before turbo issues. The ten speed auto in it is smooth and bulletproof.
👎 4 cylinder turbo engines
I PURCHASED A 2011 FORD F 150 LARIAT 4X4 WITH 151000 MILES. IT WAS CLEAN HAD THE 5.0 ENGINE. NOW, IT HAS OVER 15000 AND STILL PERFORMS AS NEW WITHOUT ANY PROLEMS AND GOOD GAS MILEAGE. I LOVE IT...
I miss my 87 F-150, 300 cui I6 with a 4 speed manual. 4x4 with manual locking hubs...yeah, it was great.
I love my 2023 Maverick Hybrid. Perfect for my needs and bigger items fit into my 4X8 trailer that I tow with the Maverick. Very Happy for only $24,000!!
I just want a 3/4 truck with an 8' bed and extended cab.
I'm getting ready to retire my 2001F-150. I didn't know what to replace my truck with and this is a wealth of knowledge. Thank you so much. I had a Ranger before that but I wasn't that happy with it.
Might want to reconsider that
.. keeping the old guy on the road may be a better move🤔🤔🤔
Keep it.
V6 and no evil cylinder deactivation? I'm all in.
The pickup truck in US is the "new Family Car" replacing the family sedan or wagon of the 1950-1970.
In the 60's and 70's and 80's I drove "full size" cars that rode smooth, was quiet and reliable. Then the government said no more wagons and everything had to be smaller due to CAFE requirements. Now we can buy trucks that give you what you want. If you still want a station wagon to haul your family you can buy an SUV.
Hey government stop telling the companies what to build!!!!
My son bought a new Tacoma 4 cylinder turbo but manual 6 speed it’s pretty peppy his only complaint is the gas tank isn’t big enough to run him all week back forth to work
I just picked up a 2022 SR5 premium "XP Package" 4Runner with 37k miles, it was purchased from the same dealer it was traded in. all service records and maintenance done at the original dealership. God answered my prayers with this one!
Scotty, you need to mention the Frontier, affectionately called the Fronty.
Love my 24 Denali 3.0 Duramax.
Still driving a 2007 Tundra with the v8 in it and a 2006 scion Xb toaster with a 5 spd manual and the indestructible 2FE engine series.. no need for a new car with new problems. Putting a turbo on a 4cycl isn't a wild idea, but slapping it into a truck is bonkers.
I am keeping my 2014 pro 4x 123k and parts are the cheapest of any vehiclhe out there today and the fausgate system is the best car audio in any vehichle.
How about Nissan Frontier? You forgot to mention THE BEST OPTION! Lol...
Shhhhh
what do you mean? 6:28
Loving my 2024 tundra..
Absolutely no issues so far..build quality is great..gas milage not as great as expected..but that might be because I love to put my foot down in it
I knew Scotty would spend most of the vid on the Toyotas. I think I'll just keep my 2011 Nissan Frontier with 157k miles.
2025 Maverick now offer AWD & 4K towing for the hybrid model. I received my Lariat trim with these options a few weeks ago. Couldn’t be happier; I traded in my loaded 22 XLT 2.0 turbo that I loved too!
You could say that about most makes after 2018 or so .... Overpriced, over teched impossible to work on garbage.
Also, underbuilt.
Turbos are mechanical nightmares.
I had to look up the Maverick MPG. That's a first for me hearing the MPG in the city being higher than highway MPG. That's awesome.
Hybrid MPG is almost always higher in the city, that's where hybrids work best
In the highway the gas engines take over
@@Argedis That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation on this one. Appreciate it!
Glad you looked that up. I thought Scotty had misspoken. Thanks
The Honda Ridgeline is barely mentioned but is better than the maverick and santa cruz copies.
Ford still offers a V-8 option for the F-150. It's the 5.0 Coyote with 400 hp and 410 lb. ft. of torque.
"City truck". Russians have a term for this -- "parquetter" (паркетник): an off-roader suitable for driving over the parquet. And only over the parquet.
My favorite truck is 99-07 gm 3/4 ton trucks with the 6.0
I have a 2012 Tacoma for going to work and whatever. Also have 2000 GMC 2500 4x4 long bed for everything else like surviving dooms day or dragging Godzilla back into the ocean.
When the car has manual transmission, you must rebuild the original engine. And enjoy it forever.
They go through all that time and trouble getting a engine to be reliable and then change it and start all over again
Wow Scotty, this video is intense. Thanks for watching out for us. 👍🏽
I gotta say Toyota's customization options are pretty cool.
Thank you Sir Scotty for being role model and American hero
bold of you to assume i can afford a new truck scotty
Tundras don't get anywhere near the MPG they claim. I get 15.2 combined on my 2025. I reset it this weekend for a long highway trip of 800 miles and I got it up to 16.6 mpg. It'll be back down to the 15 range in no time. I wish I had an unstressed, naturally aspirated V8 powerplant in this truck
Toyota made a HUGE mistake getting rid of 4.6 and 5.7 engines in the Tundra. With routine maintenance, both easily gave you 500,000+ miles! To make matters worse, Lexus and Toyota dumped very reliable v6 engines for 4 cyl and 6 cyl TURBOS! We DON'T like or Want Turbo's! Look at all the low mileage used turbos for sale now!
The maverick is dope. Perfect for a guy on somewhat of a budget that wants but doesn’t need a pickup truck. But it seems to only come in hybrid. Do they make a gas model?
Titan is my favorite
I’d love for the Mitsubishi L200 Triton and the Volkswagen Amorak and the Mazda BT-50 and Toyota Hilux to be sold in the US.
So, which trucks are the ones that if we bought, we are screwed?
Toyotas have a lot of experience with the hybrid systems, so I'd be fine with one but why eliminate the v-6 option entirely?
What is engineered fuel gasoline?
Motorcycle oil ?
Carsales Australia, killed the new Landcruiser Prado 48v diesel hybrid on a test ,it was driven through a puddle,
One thing I hate with internet culture is everything is either the best ever or the worse ever..
Theres very little nuanced takes..
Or its good but here's some downsides..
I drive 2004 Colorado Z71 4x4 I use it farming best all around truck Ive owned it has 351,000 miles on it
I would love a truck that can tow a jetski, or uhaul trailer, with awesome audio, spacious crew cab, and smooth ride (air bag aftermarket install if needed) and great MPG for a great price. What would you recommend? I currently have a 2006 Honda Ridgeline with 230k miles.
Soooo which truck leaves us "Screwed!!" ?????
Nissan titan Love that v8
Which vehicle helps me "win" and keeps me alive in a collision? I looked over the statistics and nearly got killed by a jeep Wagoneer the other day (texting while driving while making a left turn without the signal light turned on by a middle aged women). I tried public transit got stuck for 8 hours the 2 weeks ago 5 of those hours freezing in sub zero waiting for transit and another walking (all in one day). I don't need apple play, fuel economy or need it to look good but i need structural integrity, weight and reliability. I have a S-corp and work in fintech which truck would you recommend? edit: I put 6k miles in the last 9 years of driving since i work partly remote and distance wise not that far from hudson river.
My 2025 Nissan Frontier V6 Pro4X love it
Thanks for the video
Just another Toyota commercial. Scotty obviously doesn't like the Nissan Frontier.
I had a rugged little Toyota pick-up for 20 years. I won't buy the craps they sell here now. I hate the new pansy trucks. No front wheel drive only either. Don't like the nanny controls and giant monitor in the dash. Trucks need to be built to take deep water. Mounting the electronics on the frame is stupid.
Saw someone with a Maverick Lariat with the Tremor package I'll admit it looked cool as hell but for 50k Ill just get a Tacoma instead
What about my 82 Dodge Rampage that blew a head gasket at 50 thousand miles?
It was a nice size and convenient but needed a better slant 4 engine.
I miss having a small van or Camaro type vehicle.
I’ll keep my 2002 Toyota Tacoma 3.4L V6 PreRunner 4 door TRD OFF ROAD, Thank you. 170K miles.
Failed to mention that the hybrid maverick now also comes in AWD
These are being discontinued this year correct?
Gen 2 Tundra Limited
Freaking work horse
2 turbos aint enough. Or, just buy a descent engine.
Why mention the MSRP when at the dealers they are 20 to40 thousand more .
That was true 2-3 years ago. Lots of 10-15k off MSRP now. Still too high but they are coming down.
Just so as you’ll know, just how much, MORE $$$$$$$$$$ you’re getting RIPPED OFF, at the STEALERSHIPS….! Duhh.
Not much said about the Ridgeline even though I have a feeling may be one of the best ones out there or just basic and get around town hall a few things kind of truck.
They’re all junk now: stop/start, cylinder deactivation, too many transmission gears…digital gauges & HVAC controls won’t last long term…
CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THE 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE IS A SOLID LITTLE CAR? IT IS IDENTICAL TO THE FORD ESCAPE DURING THOSE YEARS. IT HAS A 3.0L V6 DOHC . WILL THIS CAR LAST 300-500K MILES WITH RELIGIOUS MAINTENANCE?
Why are you YELLING...???
@dennisdmenace6249 haha. Not yelling. Do you have a answer to the question? Are you a menace?
Barely even mentioned the Ridgeline or Frontier. It was starting to sound like a Taco commercial to me. No thanks.
S I have a Frontier pro 4x4.
I cared about some features and didn't care about a whole mess of others..
One of the features I didn't give two (bleeps) about was the fuel efficiency.
Do most truck owners care about fuel efficiency?
