As with most players in your audience, I have several guitars including my Martin HD 28. When I wanted something for casual use on the acoustic side I purchased an Eastman E1 OM. What a pleasant surprise. The guitar quality (for the money) and setup were wonderful and the tone (sustain, etc.) is great.
When I was looking for a smaller guitar (I already had a Martin Dread and 000, both with spruce tops), I *almost* bought one of these, and would heartily recommend one to anybody looking for a smaller guitar. The scale length and nut size are those of a full-size guitar and not those of a scaled-down guitar like a Taylor GS Mini (although I did quite like how the mahogany GS Mini sounded, even if playing it was a bit cramped). So why didn’t I get one? It sounded too much like the guitars I already had. In the end I went with the all-mahogany Guild M120 and couldn’t be happier.
Thank you Martin for this excellent guitar. Shame on you Martin for the absolutely worst gig bag imaginable. Charge a few extra bucks and include a half-decent gig bag. Okay?
I really enjoy your channel and the videos you provide. I laughed at the "rudeness" of strumming while someone is talking. It drives my wife mad but I totally get where Quentin is coming from. I am a drummer and guitar player and my hands ALWAYS have to be tapping, doing doubles or rudiments, or if I have something to strum, I have to strum it.! Keep it up guys.
I'm not necessarily a "small person" but have back issues. My Martin x Series Custom was becoming uncomfortable to play. The narrower OM-28 I subsequently purchased is much easier to play but I don't like to travel with it. The X-Series dread sat in its case so I bought the new Martin Djr-10 (Sitka spruce top, Sapele sides and back), especially to travel with. I've found that it's a very comfortable "couch" guitar and as Paul said, it's my go to guitar to have out and grab to play. Very satisfied.
all sound good for the size. sapele is way underrated, nice job martin on this one - especially doing a sunburst in a MIM model. looking foward to seeing the small comparison vids too.
Great vid! Could you please compare 000Jr-10 with Taylor Academy 12 (A12)? They have exactly the same price and I can't decide which one to get. Thanks!
I have a same model DJr10e , and may I ask if you have loose wiring inside the body as well Im wondering if its like that for all? Its just kinda bothering me when shaking the guitar and i hear it dangling😀
@Elyon Alone I'm a bluegrass fan, and a big fan of Johnny Cash... I already own a spruce top guitar and im looking for a more "woody" sound... Would the all sapele be good?
Honestly, I think the D10E is essentially just a rename of the DRS1. I have a DRS1 I leave at my church for playing in worship. It does great. Love it. Great sound in or out of the PA. It's definitely a little more docile than my DCPA4, but is excellent for background acoustic strumming in the band. The only difference I've seen in the DRS1 and the D10E is that the DRS1 came with a hard case and the D10E comes with a gig bag.
Hi Sir nice review! Do you think that the bridge pin holes of this Djr10e is standard size like from all Martin? Because i plan to buy Graptech bridge pins, and not sure if traditonal or presentation style will fit the pin holes... 🤔
martin d2xe or this one... wich one would you recommend to be or sound better?? any detail that could make one better than the other. considering it to be the only guitar ill have because i sold the others.
They're both great guitars. If you're only going to have one I'd get the dx2e..only because it's a full size. I've played both and I have the jr. Great guitar, I love it! But I have a J200 as my full size. This is more of a secondary guitar that makes an amazing practice/take along/companion/couch/porch/campfire guitar.
@@soofitnsexy I haven't played the sheeran line or the wee lowden. However, to my ear the lowden f50 is in my top 5 for acoustics. Has a very unique, reverb sound. I'm not a fan of taylor. They're very loud, but to my ear they lack tone. Volume isn't everything.
@@garrisdom of course! I played several Lowdens here in nyc and was not impressed at all at the sometimes 7 to 12 thousand dollar price point...I played some smaller Lowdens and santa Cruz...also very expensive and believe it or not the little gs mini taylor was a better guitar for about 700 bucks
@@soofitnsexy I just picked up a breedlove organic series with european spruce and granadillo for 700. I dont even feel the need to buy a super expensive guitar at this point Haha

it would be nice to see a comparison with the new DJR compared to the old ones side to side to see the sound difference
There is at least one comparison online and everybody agrees that the older model blows this one away.

I love my Dreadnaught Jr but mine doesn't sound that good. Maybe it's defective. Wait . . . what's different, oh, the player. Damnit.
Player mod!
I am still finding some of these older videos. Great stuff. Great truth in advertising! I enjoy what you share with us.

I bought the Martin baby first and then bought a new 2016 Martin d-28 and it’s a Cannon..but I play the dread jr the most by far...🙏🙏

I need the snap of spruce for what I do but that Sapele sure sounded nice for a couch only situation.

Nice sound;
1 Sapele
2 Sunburst
3 Natural.
However anyone listening go back and remember he doesn't do a nice slower starting strum like he does on the other two guitars...
@@josephlaming8209 which other 2?

Really tempted by this... is it "giggable" sound wise?
keep on winging it... wing on!
I was looking to get my first guitar and I was wondering if I should get a smaller one or a full size?
I think if I were to take my Martin jr to bozeman after living in humid Hammond Louisiana it may Explode...😂
I would like to see you play a Taylor gs mini

I got the first and the second edition. Love them. :-)
Can you describe the sound difference between the 1st and 2nd editions?
@@Oats57 1st More Bass. 2nd brighter. A little bit.
Is the rosette real pearl or a decal or plastic?
Which one is the best for country music (Jr-10 Spruce top or Sapele top)?

Does the natural top have a gloss finish or no? Cant tell
The Martin d10e looks like a nice new road series dred I'd really like to see a video on that model.

@@TheAcousticLetter thanks!
Hello sir, would u recommend Lifespan gauge 12 or gauge 11 on this DJr10 guitar?
Martin ships with 12-54 gauge strings.
Lovely tones. A cedar top might've been ever better!
Hello sir, do you think the action is a lil bit high out of the box?
You are truly an annoying little man
Interestingly the natural guitar sounded brighter and better than the sunburst one...
The sunburst is purely cosmetic. It has nothing to do with tone.
Could you make a review of the new acoustic serie from Godin guitar such as the new Metropolis ltd?

Does it come in black?
Get a slow strum in there on that natural too
Chord 7:26 ?
Hey man ! Just do a C chord shape 3 frets upper the neck
it almost feels as they tuned the sound to match the colors.. sapele very scooped V sunburst country natural.. well natural. haha
Nice guitar! I hate bags!
I thought ed Sheeran played a wee lowden
@Kyle Smith lowden makes a "wee lowden" that is around 4000 dollars. The sheeran series is based on it but uses lower quality woods etc.
