Was fun, but It was a bit strange that there were 3 little minigames that really didn't mean anything in the end. I would think it would be nice to give an advantage to the winner of those games, but then again it would be hard to decide what that would even be. Anyways it was fun to watch. It was good seeing spiff and RT.
Maybe lowering the throttle a bit? Making their attacks a little weaker instead of using their full force. But I guess a few second head start would work too.
As someone who has been in the sport of robot combat for nearly a decade, THIS is exactly how a robot combat show should be presented! General presentation, transitioning, music choices and the severe lack of cinematography & lack of documentary style editing is how it should be. I genuinely hope TV executives (preferably from ITV) end up seeing this, it show that the sport still has a place & platform for TV! ✌🏻
@@ww-some9283 The lack of cinematography helps keep it real. The new Robot Wars tried doing this and it lost the authenticity of the atmosphere particular behind the pits. The cinematography didn't make it feel real, it made it feel forced, fabricated and fake.
from speaking to the engineers they estimate it takes anywhere from £8,000 - £40,000 to build one. However they are built to be destroyed and then rebuilt after a single fight. They describe it as a weird hobby where you are effectively creating something for months that is expected to be destroyed in seconds. Really lovely chaps who are just passionate about robots!

Manta's 2022 unreliability is what was used... That robot has not aged well. Meanwhile Thor is one of the most reliable robots out there. Up there with Norwalk Havoc's Crashfest in my book. Capable of taking tons of abuse.
Unfortunately team Gix was disqualified after their "mech" started crying and convulsing and vomiting black oil all over the arena. It was honestly kinda upsetting, especially when it started ripping off its own limbs in frenzied panic...

I feel like this is the sort of thing I'd've watched on the Discovery Channel as a kid, except it would be a full 45 min episode with 3 ad breaks, the first two acts being the build, the third act the "solo" challenges, and the final act the battle. Kinda wish this had been given that room to breathe, but I understand that that would have taken a lot more work too
Love the Concept. Hate the Excecution. What's the point of having RT, Kiwo, Mango and Spiff there if we don't get to hear them during the competition?! Is there an unedited version of this I can watch instead? Seems like you left the best part of it on the cutting room floor.
I don't want to see the engineers battle, I want to see Spiff and RT fight it out, without the narration. But oh well, at least there were robots. It's too bad more of the process wasn't shown considering all the filming that was done.
The robots were good, the talking that happened around was really hard to listen to and cringe. You do also wonder what the point of the challenges were when the last one was already decided to be winner takes all. I'm just here for the robots and Spiff, RT forgot how to stand like a normal human being to begin with which was also enjoyable
